OK,
about 9 months ago on a popular UK forum there was a discussion about re naming e-cigs to personal nicotine inhelators or some such other thing. A few of us were none to impressed. a marithon is a marithon jif not cif.

Any way after the US judge that ruled that e-cigs are not drug delivery systems just electronic cigarettes, have the UK suppliers scored an own goal?

As far as I can see most people are OK with the sale cigaretts. However they are very suspicious of these strange drug delivery systems.

Do you think we in the UK sould rebrand these ENIs, PVs to simple e-cigs?

thoughts?

I think the whole ENI thing was a mistake - but the company who came up with that bright idea are not keen on criticism of any sort; so,,,,,,,,good on 'em

PV is a good catch all as many newer models do not look like cigarettes at all.

I do not think it really matters what they are called - what they are used for is more important!

I use mine as a smoking replacement NOT a nicotine replacement. I may stop using nicotine at some point but I will not stop vaping as I enjoy the whole process.

In my opinion, smokers are more addicted to the process and habitual ritual of smoking rather than the drug nicotine so all the MRSA (sic) nonesense and the strange manoeuvrings of certain UK suppliers seem daft.

I'll be more concerned when the 'dangers of 2nd hand vapour' are brought to the fore - let's just hope some REAL testing has been done before those sorts of allegations arise :p

Pillbox has removed the video he posted in January where he is talking about wanting the screwdriver and the liquid accepted as prescription only drug devices and in effect remove all unlicenced products from the market. He put some background work into it and had big plans.

They do say be careful what you wish for.

There'll always be a problem when an enterprising businessman spots a plan that will give him an effective monopoly for a while, and possibly allow him to enjoy the "hoover effect" (what do you call your vaccum cleaner??).

Thankfully, Jason's seen the light - shame the same can't be said for a certain other company that seems hell bent on going down that road just to corner the market all for themselves.

:)
funny enough I just got an e-mail from them.
So what exactly are they up to that could be detremental?

Dont get me wrong, I tend not to buy direct from them, but have been known to get the occasional batch of ecopure and 401 atties now and again from one of their subies.

Was Jason seriously mooting the idea of liquid being prescription only!!!???

Ok the up side would be free juice (I live in Glasgow)
but that realy is a bit naughty.

Hmmm... Y'see, there are two strands to the business of e-cigs. On one hand, you've got the "I'm a user and I can get kit in to move on to others because I'm a believer, and it may fund my usage and maybe make me a few bob as well" and on the other hand you've got the serious entrepreneurs with some money behind them who see a ground-floor opportunity to make barrowloads of cash, and will take the most expedient route to as close to a monopoly as they can get.

So, Intellicig is almost certainly in the latter group, and there are one or two others - Nucig, Janty, TECC/TW and others.

In the former group, you have the likes of Cloud 9, Liberty Flights, Ivapour and others. They all started out with very little money, and mostly plough all their profits back in to their businesses, and, actually, have the most to lose when it all goes .... up.

The likes of Janty, Intellicig, TECC/TW and so on will invest in the testing and paperwork necessary to continue to trade, and will use whatever leverage they can to gain the largest market share they can. To them, it's strictly business (although I do believe that Jason's heart is in the right place, but his head rules it). And, if that means shafting all the little guys, then shaft they will...

It's a shame, but that's business.
