safe distance from a black hole
pics?
You most probably have had a subconjunctival hemorrhage. This a small bleed in the conjunctiva. This can happen after a trivial trauma, like rubbing of eyes, in high blood pressure etc. The blood vessels of the conjunctiva (white portion of eye) are very fragile and can bleed easily. As long as there are no other symptoms like pain, watering, photophobia, blurring of vision in the affected eye, there is no need to worry. The bleed will resolve slowly in the next 15 days or so. If there is some irritation, then you can use lubricating eye drops like refresh tears/optive etc (available OTC)
Regards

Seriously, I dont know. I just copied and pasted that from an online self diagnosis site. Your question was framed the same way someone framed a question in 2009
"I woke up this morning with a purple spot below the inner corner of my left eye....."
Maybe just go to a doctor and have it checked out.

I wouldn't hazard a guess. But if you are concerned about it, I'd love to hear that you have a doctors appointment. :)
I'm not really concerned, I'm just curious what happened.
Maybe you smacked yourself in your sleep. I get the occasional purple spot on my skin for a simple reason. I’m old.
Maybe something like that, I ussualy fall asleep with headphones in my ears. Maybe it was a button from my pillow or headphones pressing under my eye. It doesn't hurt at all though.

Thanks for the info. There's no pain or any other symptoms so I hope it'll disappear soon.

The reason I posted this was because one of my fist thoughts was that nicotine had something to do with this and other vapers experienced something similar. If that spot starts bothering me somehow I'll be sure to make a visit to the doc.

where have you read that other vapers experienced something similar?
Well, I know that nicotine constricts the blood vessels. Based on the fact the purple spot under my eye doesn't hurt I thought that it can't be a bruise, because bruises hurt, right? So the next thought was some blood capilaries bursting or something like that. (I don't really know the english terms really well) That supposition combined with the fact that nicotine constricts the blood vessels made me think that there was some kind of connection or a more widespread thing.

Bruises don't necessarily hurt. When a bruise occurs with tissue damage, it's the tissue that hurts. I know on many occasions I have found a bruise and never knew it was there or how I got it. I'm sure I bumped something hard enough to bruise, but not hard enough for enduring pain, so I forget about the bump. ;)

As for the nicotine....did you smoke before you vaped? Yes nicotine constricts blood vessels, but I'm not aware of an instance where it caused a rupture around the eye. I'm not sure to what degree it constricts either. I have always been on the low side of normal with my blood pressure, so I'm leaning towards it not constricting to any major degree. I can see it possibly being a bit of an issue for someone who already has very high blood pressure. But as with everything else we subject our bodies to....we all react differently.

I've never had a dark spot around my eye, but I do remember years ago my mom poked herself in the eye with the earpiece of her glasses. She was so worried that someone was going to accuse my dad of abuse....she had a nice shiner from that little poke right in the eye.
