Oh man, I'm sorry to hear about those racoon eyes. Did you see a doctor? What treatment did you use? Just curious about remedies. I'm really sorry to hear about your setback to cigarettes... maybe after a break you might try 100% vg?

will have to look it up later

sorry for the delay, got sidetracked as usual

aclovate 0.05mg was the name of the cream prescribed

my rashes were not spotty or zit like, they were a fairly even, maybe blotchy, patches of red on my skin. failry smooth, maybe a tad raised, but smooth though, and red, i also got headaches, since switching to at least 70vg/30pg to 100vg juice i am fine.

the rashes were mostly on my face/cheek and upper arms. only other time that has happened when not vaping is if i drink certain kinds of liquor/beer....really strange.

Hello Everyone,

I'm back to provide an update as stated in my previous post (#168) and post new pictures of my rash after treatment. My treatment consisted of about a week and a half on antibiotics and applying hydrocortizone on the rash 4x a day. It is much improved - and you can see that the red has given way to pale pink/brown color on my right arm. I am hoping it will clear up completely in about another two weeks (!) I took the shots by the window for better lighting and definition:

The hydrocortizone was great for relieving the itchiness --

I hope everyone else is doing better -- and remember, if your rash has persisted for more than a week, you should probably see a doctor.

Take care, be well, and I hope you find your happy vaping spot soon

Ah, that rash! I have had this on on off since October. Thought it was from bug bites as that is how it started. Nope, it is my normal seasonal allergies increasing. Not PG or VG, I didn't even know about e-cigs, much less ingredients in October. It was so bad that Patient First was giving me double antibiotics and antibiotic shots. They were afraid it could be MRSA! However, I asked them to test for that and they would not. 3 weeks ago they suggested I go to a dermatologist as they had no answers and antibiotics were not working. (This rash got bad, itchy, oozing, I will not go into it, but it was on my leg from a bug bite, next my face, then my arm.) Dermatologist immediately says it is an allergy. Are you allergic to poison ivy, I said I guess, but have not been around any. Do you have "hayfever", yes is the answer. Steroid cream is clearing just as your hydrocortizone is. I now need to see an allergy specialist, since this is just from pollen, but don't want to go through the process. (And, yes, every time I go outside for more than 1 block, there is a new tiny patch of the beginning of it again. Danged pollen!)

Take the advise above and go to a doctor when you get a rash for more than a week. I looked like a Klingon for a few weeks before my bosses told me to get to the doctor, sad but true. Don't let it get that bad, it can leave deep scars. (Money worries can blow, just go get some medical help. Deep scar on leg and on face, right in between my eyes b/c I did not get started with a doctor earlier.)

I have identical circular scabs that itch and do not heal
Hydrocortizone does nothing.

Hi Quovadis,

Replied to your PM... I'm sorry the hydrocortizone is not helping.... but I believe that application of hydrocortizone is only for relief of itchiness.... do you mean it does not relieve the itch?

I wonder why your doctor didn't prescribe some antibiotics as was done in my case... anyways, perhaps it would be better to visit a dermatologist?

Please post an update and I hope you feel better real soon.

EDIT: I believe I was reacting to PG as I had been using PG juices since I started vaping in December 2010. I guess at about a month in I started feeling unusually itchy in various parts of my body... my hand, my legs, my back... just weird where I would feel a stingy itchy feeling.

About two months later, BAM, this awful rash. I guess the rash starts with that random itch in several areas of the body before it surfaces on the skin.

Now - when I went to the doctor, I just addressed the rash -- not my suspicions that it was due to PG -- BUT -- I stopped using PG and went to VG in ratios of 70vg30pg or 80vg/20pg, and I had no further itch or reaction.

However, a couple of weeks ago I ordered a juice that I thought was vg but it wasn't and guess what -- I started feeling that random irritating stinging feeling in random parts of my body! So, I feel pretty confident that I am reacting to PG again. Now, I am making sure my juice is VG!

I would suggest you try to stick with VG juices or ratios with higher VG than PG.

PS: My rash is gone and my skin has returned to normal, thank goodness!

Ok this is so bumming me out. This morning I decided it was time to search the forum and see if anyone else was having a problem similar to mine and I'm finding it here.

I started vaping 24 days ago and have been LOVING IT! Haven't had a cigarette yet! But.... after about 2 weeks I started noticing a stinging to my skin in areas. First my lips, then my neck and jaw, then on my chest, stomach, arms and legs. Pretty much all over. It's not a rash, yet, like most have described, but more of what feels like a sunburn. You know that prickly, sore skin feeling where you don't want your cloths touching it at all! Skin feels tight and burning in areas. Today I decided to take some benadryl and see if that helps, we'll see.

I had put off looking at the forum for this as I surely didn't want to find any reason I had to go back to cigarettes, man I can't do that! I have to find a fix for this. I'm not sure if my juice is pg or vg but from what I've been told it's likely VG already?? It's pretty thick and has lot's of smoke? I bought it from Eastmall so I did email them to ask about it and what it was made from. If anyone already knows for sure what eastmall juice is made from please let me know so I can try the opposite.

I also wondered if it had something to do with nicotine levels?? Right now I am smoking the 18mg which I wouldn't think of as much since I was smoking 2 1/2 pack a day of home rolled smokes.
Man this is so depressing......

Hi Dawn -- please don't despair -- in my case it was PG -- so I switched to VG -- which is more natural so I am surprised that you think it's VG juice you might be reacting to. If possible, see a doctor, maybe get an allergy test to help you rule stuff out. You know, allergies is something that can start at any age -- things you weren't allergic to before you might suddenly begin reacting to.

Have you recently switched laundry detergents or anything? I think it will help if you examine any changes you may have made recently.

ARe you sure it's VG juice you are using? Double check -- I am with you about not going back to cigarettes so I hope there is a way that vaping will work out for you.

Guys I'm quite sure something is causing itchy, scab- like skin that does not heal.
Been twice for a Biopsy, and they do not know what it is.

Starts as blisters on legs, arms etc...then turns into a flaky scab that does not heal.
Don't know if its PG or VG ..

Those look like bites to me (mosquitoes, spiders, bed bugs?). I'm not a dermatologist but have worked in medical for many years and they look like bites, unless you are scratching them until they bleed. Anyway, you could have a dermatologist do an allergy test first off. Probably save you some money in the long run if you find out you are allergic to PG.

Yah I think it's a mostly pg base too. I researched Dekang and I see they do a lot of mixes of vg/pg. Seems to me that pg causes all the trouble. As soon as eastmall replies to one of my 3 emails and confirms this to me I will order some straight vg from somewhere.

Oh and nope nothing else new that I can think of, no soaps etc. Just my ecig. :( I will find a fix for this, I'm not going to keep smoking these nasty cigs, lol.
