Hey Guys,

I've been having ongoing problems with the Smoktech branded Dual Coil 1.5 ohm Cartomizers. I vape high voltage, both with the new Vamo and the 2nd Gen YJ Lavatube. The weird part is I have absolutely no issues with the generic 1.5 DCC's that I order from Volcano. Here's the issue(s) with the Smoktech. I fill and prime my tank as always, and have never had a problem with the first tank-full of juice. However, after about 3-4 mL of juice, I begin to get that nasty burnt taste, even when the polyfill is completely saturated. Once I first notice that burnt taste there's almost nothing I can do to get rid of it (as I can with the generic branded carts). I basically have to prime every hit by sucking in without firing, which then leads to the cart becoming so flooded that it starts gurgling. For example, I'm getting that horrible burnt taste now, yet when I take off the drip tip and push down on the top of the polyfill it's full of juice all the way to the top. When I first started using these I figured it was just me doing something wrong and went through about 10 all with the same result. I then switched back to the Volcano generic ones and hadn't had an issue for months. Last week I decided to give the Smoktech a try again, and immediately got the same results as I described above. I vape Johnson Creek Original which is at least a 90/10 PG blend so juice thickness isn't an issue. I'm usually vaping at around 5-6 volts.

I can't figure out why I'm having these nasty results with the "name brand" Smoktech carts, while having no issues with the generic ones from Volcano. It makes even less sense considering that for the first 3-4 mL of juice it hits perfect, and then becomes burnt. It's to the point that I've pretty much given up trying to "fix" the cart once it starts tasting burnt...I'll just throw it out and start a new one. The polyfill is fully saturated throughout, so it's not that the initial priming is just burning off. I'm sure of this because I've tried dripping on top of the polyfill at the very first sign of "burnt" and can only drip 2-3 drops before it's completely flooded (vs 20+ for a new cart)

Any input would be appreciated. I'd prefer to use the Smoktech since they're significantly cheaper than the generic ones from Volcano, and because I purchased 20 of them thinking I'd be able to figure it out.

Thanks

Evan

You are defenitely pushing the watts too high. 5V on 1.5DC is 16.66 Watts! 6V on 1.5Dc is 24 Watts!! No cartos or atty should be able to give you a satisfactory burn free vape at these wattages.

Having said that, why don't you just use single coils. There really is no need for dual coils. Smoketech's 1.7ohm single coils (also called resurrectors) are amazing. So is their 2.5 and 3ohm cartos (which I prefer).

The dual coils are no better than the 1.7 ohm single coils. There is a believe that one of the dual coils can become dry, and give the metallic or burnt taste, if the carto is running under half full, due to the fact that they are stacked vertically above each other. This might be your problem!

I LOVE smoketech cartos, after going through about 30 (each lasting about 10 days in a DCT at 4ml per day) I'm yet to receive a dud. I buy from Madvapes LLC - E Cigarettes, Electronic Cigarettes, Vaping Supplies

Good luck!
Vape on!
