Hey Guys,
I've been having ongoing problems with the Smoktech branded Dual Coil 1.5 ohm Cartomizers. I vape high voltage, both with the new Vamo and the 2nd Gen YJ Lavatube. The weird part is I have absolutely no issues with the generic 1.5 DCC's that I order from Volcano. Here's the issue(s) with the Smoktech. I fill and prime my tank as always, and have never had a problem with the first tank-full of juice. However, after about 3-4 mL of juice, I begin to get that nasty burnt taste, even when the polyfill is completely saturated. Once I first notice that burnt taste there's almost nothing I can do to get rid of it (as I can with the generic branded carts). I basically have to prime every hit by sucking in without firing, which then leads to the cart becoming so flooded that it starts gurgling. For example, I'm getting that horrible burnt taste now, yet when I take off the drip tip and push down on the top of the polyfill it's full of juice all the way to the top. When I first started using these I figured it was just me doing something wrong and went through about 10 all with the same result. I then switched back to the Volcano generic ones and hadn't had an issue for months. Last week I decided to give the Smoktech a try again, and immediately got the same results as I described above. I vape Johnson Creek Original which is at least a 90/10 PG blend so juice thickness isn't an issue. I'm usually vaping at around 5-6 volts.
I can't figure out why I'm having these nasty results with the "name brand" Smoktech carts, while having no issues with the generic ones from Volcano. It makes even less sense considering that for the first 3-4 mL of juice it hits perfect, and then becomes burnt. It's to the point that I've pretty much given up trying to "fix" the cart once it starts tasting burnt...I'll just throw it out and start a new one. The polyfill is fully saturated throughout, so it's not that the initial priming is just burning off. I'm sure of this because I've tried dripping on top of the polyfill at the very first sign of "burnt" and can only drip 2-3 drops before it's completely flooded (vs 20+ for a new cart)
Any input would be appreciated. I'd prefer to use the Smoktech since they're significantly cheaper than the generic ones from Volcano, and because I purchased 20 of them thinking I'd be able to figure it out.
Thanks
Evan
