I've tried building with nickel on a range of different atties (orchid v4 and v6, lemo 2 & billow v2) and I just can't seem to have any luck so I'm posting here to see if someone can help me out.
The one time I did it successfully was on an orchid v6 clone (dual coil) and the flavour and vapor was awesome. But since then, every attempt results in a serious shortage in the flavour department lol. I've tried spaced coils, micro coils, higher resistance, lower resistance, twisted wire and triple twisted wire BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK!!! I've been trying to get a decent temp control build for at least 2 months now but for some reason the flavour is ALWAYS extremely muted.

Someone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. The device I'm using is the ipv4, now with the updated firmware. :(

At the moment I just want to get it working in my billow v2. I had the pleasure of using someone elses a month back with a nickel build in it and it was amazing! The flavour and vapour were great and its the only reason I went and bought one.. only to be disappointed by my own hands lol

I don't have an IPV4. So I don't really know all the In's and Out's of that MOD.

But...

Do things work OK with a Regular Build (Kanthal or NiChrome) in Non-TC Mode?

What Ohms are you Building for TC

What Wire Alloy are you Using?

If you are Using Ni200, have you tried Titanium Grade 1 wire?

What Temp are you Setting the TC at?

Do you know anyone who uses a TC Mod that you could take you Set-Up to for Advise?

Yep, the flavour and vapor i get off a standard 28g kanthal twisted coil is brilliant every time.

I am building between .05-.15 ohms, such are the lower and upper limits for temp control with my mod

I am using ni200 and currently have 32 and 28 AWG. The update was just released for titanium wire support and I am hunting the aussie market right now for titanium wire. I have heard the flavour is excellent. (But then again I keep hearing the same about ni200)

I set the temperature between 250-280C, I prefer a warmer vape. Unfortunately I always end up with a cottony taste when I set the Joules to 40+ so I can't get the warm vape I want from temp control

I am going to a vape meet tomorrow in melbourne, there is one guy in our group who is very knowledgeable when it comes to temp control.. perhaps I should try hunt him down too haha

Well it sounds like your IPV4 is doing Fine in Non-TC Mode. That is a Good Sign.

The Reason I asked about Titanium Grade 1 wire is I had Very Bad Luck with Ni200 when I got a TC Mod. Sometimes it Seemed to work. Many time it Didn't work well. Very Inconsistent.

Even though My Mod Doesn't have a setting for Titanium, members who I think are Knowledgeable told me that I could run Titanium in TC Mode as long as I Lowered the Temperature by about 100 Degrees F.

I tried it and Everything seemed to Stabilize.

If you are going to a Vape Meet tomorrow, I would throw all your TC Stuff into a bag (IPV4, RTA/RDA, Ni200, build tools, etc.) and take it with you. I'm sure you will meet people that Either have an IPV4, or know about TC that can help you.

And you might even be Able to Trade a Few Beers for a Piece of Titanium Grade 1 wire. Just so you can try it without having to buy a Spool and pay for the Shipping.
