Super super new to rebuilding, I've got my first spool of Kanthol & a 20 gauge syringe needle on the way, going to practice building some coils to use on the ProTank 2s I have currently.

If it helps at all my current setup is the innokin iTaste MVP v2 -- so I'm limited to 11 watts / 5 volts.

$ isn't really an issue, that being said I don't want to spend $200 on an rda, but $100-150 is alright if it's top 5 quality.

Any advice would definitely help. Thanks everyone. :)

I got an Origen V1 clone last week and it is excellent and I highly recommend it. If you're looking for an authentic RDA over a clone I think it is definitely worth the ~$110. For $45 I do not find the clone lacking in quality though.

The Zenith, as mentioned above, also looks interesting. Also, the Cyclone looks really nice as well and is pretty cheap compared to other authentic RDAs.

Can't go wrong with an IGO W for ~$10 on the cheap, it's fairly nice quality and very easy to build, it's what I learned on and I had no complaints.

I'm absolutely in love with the Quasar & I don't feel it wearing off. The AFC, flavor & build quality are top-notch. However, I use it on a nemesis & it doesn't make contact with the extra deep 510/EGO type connection of my MVP 2. In fact, several of my atty's won't make contact with the MVP 2. I do own an IGO-W that does make contact with the MVP 2. The IGO-W is so affordable & a great place to start with RDA's. If you're gonna use a higher end RDA, I'd get a mech mod or DNA30 etc. to go with it.

So it's looking like a general consensus is that an IGO-W is a great starting RDA, and for $10-20 I really don't have much to lose.

As for the higher end RDAs I've been looking at the Zenith v2, Patriot, etc.

That being said, does anyone know of a good place to get an IGO-W on the cheaper end? I've found one for $20, but if I can scoop one for half that, why pay the extra $10? :p

Thanks for all the help everyone, hope to have a nice RDA setup in asap and to start making my own coils. Currently using a couple ProTanks with stock coils that are starting to taste not so great. Just waiting on my kanthal to arrive so I can improve the taste on these guys.

IGO-W with the Cap it All Vapes halo top cap is a good option. Has a reduced chamber, air flow control, and it's cheap.
While the patriot is a good atomizer, you can get the tobh which has more features for about $20 more.

Here's the igo w cap

You'll have a blast rebuilding your own coils and dripping in general! I started out just like you (protanks, etc), but these days all I do is drip....it's nice to be able to switch up your flavors so easily; just plop some new cotton in the dripper and you're good to go! Plus the flavor is WAAAAY better in a dripper than anything else I've tried...

These days my favorite drippers are the Origen V1 and the Trident V2...I also love my Patriot too though....I am currently waiting for a Crown RDA and an Atomic to be delivered...it'll be fun to compare those to what I already have!!

I'm getting an Igo-W shortly as it just seems too good to pass up. Hopefully the Cyclone AFC will be turning up next week too. Very reasonable price for a high quality RDA.

Got it from b&m, but they're sold out. Saw you ordered from them direct, think that's the best option right now

Yeah I agree with that, thought it was really my only option right now lol. Thanks for getting back to me though.

My favorite right now is the origen v1 clone from vapingtech. I just got the tobh and used the same build but I think the origen has a little more flavor.

With the origen and unicorn milk I can clearly make out the strawberry taste. Same setup in the tobh with airholes either fully open or blocked, the cream comes out more and I lose some of the strawberries.

From what I've read the origen clone is very close to the original. So I'd suggest the v1 or v2 - whichever you can get your hands on.

For your first rda I'd recommend something with a large deck and lots of options for where to mount your coils. Check out the helios. It has two post holes in the center post which gives you 4 possible positions to mount your coil. Dual coils are really easy on it too because every wire has its own mounting point. I'd recommend the real thing over the clone for the helios.

Be careful with ebay. I know it's only an Igo-W for 12 bucks and change, but I bought an Igo-L on ebay and received what was clearly a fake with a box and all. Compared to the Igo-L I had purchased from a reputable seller for a few bucks more, the thing was obviously a fake. I even weighed the cap on a digital scale and compared to my real Igo cap it was much lighter.

Funniest part was that the ebay listing for the one I bought had the following warning:

"If you see people selling this item with a white box those are clones they are not the original."

Which is true, but they were selling fakes with genuine looking boxes.

My advice would be to spend a few bucks more and get one from a forum sponsor. Or not. It's up to you.
