So my troubles all started when I ventured into 5V and 6V vaping, it was love at first puff, then I started having problems with getting a good, consistent hit. I wasn't aware then, but I guess this is a common problem with 6V vaping. Well, now it is a problem with every battery that I use. The hits are just barely there, it is almost as though the batteries aren't charged. Unfortunately I don't have a multimeter to see what is going on, and I have read through the troubleshooting thread and tried a few things (cleaning, noalax, etc) but I keep running into the same problems. I have used the same atty (Joye 510 LR) on my reo with 2 different fully charged aw imr 18650's (about 2 months old) and 1 AW 18650 (about a week old) and it just doesn't hit like it used to, so I was thinking it was because I was too used to the 6V, but then I put the atty on an eGo battery (about 5 months old) and it vapes like a champ.

When I am tinkering with the reo, it sometimes helps to unscrew the atty and clean the juice off the connectors but this has never been a problem before. Also with 6V it somtetimes helps to spin the batteries around. I am worried that there is dirt/dust/sand on the inside part but I am not mechanically inclined and I am scared to open it up and look. I am really hoping that I don't have to part with it for a few weeks to send it back but I am not really sure what else to do.

Okay, so my first question is how are your batteries fitting? Are they still fitting tightly, or are they rattling around?

Then, have you run your mod through some hot water...like from the tap? As hot as you can stand it....or boil water on the stove and use that too. Give it a good flushing and then let dry or used compressed air to blow the excess water out.

Have you tried a new atty to see how it performs?

Keep us posted. :)

Yes, all of the batteries fit well. So I run the whole thing under water?? Like get into under that black plate and everything? I have tried a few different atties, SR and HR on 5V and 6V and 2 different LR on all 3 3.7 batteries. They are all inconsistant and occasionally don't fire at all. This had been happening a bit a couple weeks ago and just got progressively worse. I think what made me notice it most was when I used the same atty on my eGo compared to my reo, for awhile I thought I just wasn't satisfied with the vape, I hadn't realized it had changed.

The atties are between 1 week and 1 month old. She's all washed out and good to go. So far the 6V is a huge improvement, the rest of the batteries are charging and I will have to wait until tomorrow to test them out. Unfortunately I have misplaced my current favorite juice so its hard to say if I am back in my sweet spot. I am off to work soon so hopefully it will turn up and I can return to vape heaven. Thanks for the help :)

gotta love an all mechanical device for the ease of cleaning, I would also tell you to check the position of your battery when you get a bad hit, ive noticed once in a while that my batts will shift forward a millimeter or so and cause issues with the vapor production, electrical tape/ribbon would probably fix the issue but I haven't gotten around to trying that yet.

Shifting the battery sometimes resolves the issue, especially for the 6V. I cleaned the pin with alcohol and then gave the whole thing a good rinse, dried it and applied noalox. The screw is tight on the spring, but I have noticed that the metal plate that it holds on is crooked, always has been since I got it brand new (a couple months ago). I always just assumed that this is how it is supposed to be. Is that the norm?

It's probably NOT a problem with the spring, more likely the stacked batteries are slipping out of position at the firing pin and it is getting an intermitant connection.

If a problem is occuring with the metal REO, it almost HAS to be at the connections where the current is conducted. So the places to look are at the battery connections (spring and firing pin) and the atomizer well. If those places are clean, non-oxidized, and making a good connection, then it almost HAS to be the atty or batt.

loooool. Your mod is hitting fine - YOU have become accustomed to a 6V TH, 3.7v ain't gonna cut it. Spinning the 3v batts helps make contact, common issue with stacking flat top batts.

If you find your eGo hitting harder than a 18650, try unscrewing the spring screw and putting a dab of noalox in the hole, then screw back in. It's also possible that your batts are weak and/or old stock.

GET A MULTIMETER. It's like $8, and you'll never wonder about a batt or atty ever again.

I agree...a multi-meter is a must. If ALL the batteries seem to be working well, but you don't know for sure and your atties work well on another device but not this one, I'm inclined to think the charger may be suspect. There are a multitude of little things that can affect your vaping experience...and having a multi-meter can really help you determine what is not working at its best. Keep us posted! :)
