Mine arrived this afternoon. Everything appears to be in order. There's a slight scratch on the silver-coloured 510 pin (is that actually SS or just silver coloured brass? Seems odd to have the pin be SS when the threads are brass!) but nothing that looks worrisome. It's not showing up on the photo due to glare.

The inside of the 510 was very clean - no dirt/oil coming off on the head of a cotton bud/Q tip. That's unusual compared to the Chinese mods I've recently checked on arrival.

The top screws have little bits of paint in them, but a visual inspection seems to indicate they are not stripped. I haven't actually tried loosening them yet.

Battery bar was at half when I first turned it on. FW was at latest version. Battery levels were around 3.7V on all three cells, I seem to recall.

Resistance readings are coming out 0.01Ω high based on the on-screen reading. I haven't run atomizer analyser properly yet, nor adjusted the mod Resistance.

vaping is fine, as would be expected.

Well I knew what I was getting into when I ordered a mod with Brass 510, I will polish it. I always intended to change it later on for a VT SS 510. The Brass 510 is neither high quality nor offers any measurable resistance benefit.
I will find a way to remove the stripped hex screw so no problem there as well.
The trouble of sending it back to receive it in worse condition is not worth it.
So far I like the mod even with its issues. Biggest negative is that it is very slippery in the hand. I am amazed I did not drop it yet.

HELP!!

When ever I set I profile within the escribe software and upload to my device this profile does not appear.

For instance, I set up 2 profiles, one in the first tab and a another in the second tab.
I then upload the settings to my device, but then the device will only show profiles 3 to 8, the other two do not appear

Most obviously I am doing something wrong, but I have yet to figure this one out.

Hope you can help me out here, and stop me feeling just a fool :D

After much consideration and obsessing about several temp control mods, I opted to order the Hcigar VT200 today. Should be here early next week. I've never used the DNA chip before, my previous mod experience was with an IPV4 and Sigelei 150. What should I expect out of this mod? I just started looking at Escribe tonight, seems like ALOT to learn. Looking forward to sharing experiences with you all.

My vt40 510female threads came apart after 1st week. I sent an email to MVS and asked if it was supposedly brass. Recieved no feedback and was given store credit. Which I intern, with extra cash purchased an sx mini. I remember I just recieved an Atlantis 2 and could not get it to vape at lower watts .So I bumped it up to 25watts and the glass tank became very hot.Shut it off and after some time removed the atty. Chunks of aluminum came out of the 510. Tried rethreading to no avail. Couldnt believe it. Never heard if anyone else had this issue. Sent an email to pbusardo after his utube review. He had questioned the 510 threading on his show. It had seemed to me it was a coating of some sort. However liked the build of the vt40 and may well buy the VT200. It looks as if they heard the complaints and fixed what was needed. Great device for using while driving. Fits in the hand very well and lower profile than an sx mini.

Going from an IPV4 to an Opus (I know, different mod but it's the same chip and experience at least), you can expect a big improvement.

You can make things as complex or simple as wanted with Escribe. When I first got the Opus I just quickly set up a profile for each of my tanks turning down the pre-heat from 200 watts, made it so it didn't say "temperature protected" or whatever every time it reached the set temp, and off I went. I set my watt hours for my battery about a week later (was early in the DNA200 cycle at that point and wasn't alluded to widely yet). That is all you really need to do (although I'm not sure if the case and battery analyzer needs to be run with the Hcigar) and then you can slowly learn everything else (or not).

Awesome! Thank you for the info. You mention a few things I was wondering about. That 200 watt pre-heat. The mod will automatically throw 200 at first unless I go into escribe and turn that down? What's up with setting the watt hours on the battery, how does that work? And call me an idiot, but this brass 510 thing, is that gonna be an issue?

1. It doesn't apply the full 200 watts unless it needs to. You would have to be in Alaska at -30f to require the full 200 watts. The chip makes an intelligent decision about how much boost to use. Mine is at 200f just like it came from the factory and it works fine.

2. Setting the battery capacity is because you can use any size battery you want. 3600 mAh or 900 mAh the chip needs to know what size the battery is so it can calculate how much battery you have left. It should be set by the Mod Builder for whatever battery they used. So I would suggest checking it but the unit will work regardless of the battery capacity is currently set to.

3. The brass 510 is not a problem until it wears out. Brass being much softer than SS just won't last as long but if you are careful and don't abuse it everything should be fine. If you do treat it gently I am sure you will be on to your next mode long before it wears out. Also if you use one of the new top filling tanks you won't be taking it on and off all that much which will give the Brass a much easier go and longer life span.

Regards,
George

George, thank you very much for the info. There's so much with this chip. I actually plan on pairing it with my Crown tank (top filling) most often so hopefully that's not a problem. I am working through the escribe software tutorial now. Thank you for setting my mind at ease and everyone for the info in this thread.

Is the profile blank, or does it go right to profile 3-8?

If it's just blank, are you using a custom image for the profile?

If so, might want to redo the image, keeping in mind that colors close to the red spectrum are translated to black on the DNA200 screen.

As soon as I woke up this morning I realised what I had done, while in the profile screen I took a screen shot of the present screen, so of course that was showing and not the profile number.

Having too many late nights and working too hard through the day, is my excuse :D

One other thing to keep in mind, the dna200 board is more accurate than the sx330 based mods you've had in the past. So if you were vaping at 100w on the sigelei, or ipv4, you may find that is more comparable to 80-90w on the dna200 depending on your build. Low ohm builds were particularly inaccurate with sx330 based mods.
