Posted on UKV..."His reply was that the quality of the brass used is of high quality and it won't ruin the threads so easy. He also mentioned that it's the same material used on the VT40 as well."

Looks like stainless steel to me.

@Shekinahsgroom

It is not.

Thats VT40 full specification.

Material:
- C frame - pearl chromium plated brass
- body - aluminum
- battery cap - silver plated brass
- 510 center pin - silver plated brass
- Hcigar coin - zinc alloy

And thats my old frame and weebly-woobly 510 (after few weeks).
You can clearly see ''redness'' on 510.

That's awesome, thanks for posting that cimon.

Plated brass?

That's sucks, that's not even an insert...it's part of the body itself.

You strip those threads and you're seriously :censored:

Not an easy repair....

Somebody is gonna have to disassemble the 200 and check to see if the 510 is an insert and take images of it.

If it's part of the body, that's a HUGE fail.

Better check the warranty and see if a stripped 510 is covered?

Cuz if your VT40 510 is toast after a couple of weeks and Richard's contact is telling him that it's the "same brass"....then the VT200 just became a $170 POS.

Probably its NOT (in VT200). It will be more like HB50 i think.
Biggest VT40 issue was fact that it has REALLY shollow 510. In VT200 it looks like separate element and much deeper than it was in VT40.

BTW. I swap C-Frame (silver to black) in 2 mins? It cost me $10. ;)

Any device that you have to repair either out of the box or a month after use....is a fail.

Chrome-plated brass 510's fail quickly.

iSmoka learned that hard lesson with the iStick 20W and hence revised all future releases of the iStick with SS thread inserts.

That ain't good.

Having to replace a 510 connector once per month or having to return it for repairs every month is nothing less than ....losing your marbles and wanting to chuck it out the window!

Forget the 1 year warranty, peeps are gonna be PISST.

Right behind you...
I see a lot of folks looking at older products and assuming HCigar didn't step up their game, which they have, in a big way. The VT40 was a huge leap in quality of materials and workmanship compared to the HB40, and the HB series is a big leap over their old clone boxes.

I dont believe that they got the dna40 from a 3rd party vendor. Wink and a nod and thats the story the went with. Im not sure why, it was perfectly fine for Evolve to sell it to them.
