VAPING POLITICS: In a rare turn of events, a politician seems to have come to their senses about vaping!

After voting in favor of a flavor ban, Green MLA Steve Howard (Prince Edward Island) apparently did a little more research into the topic and decided that flavor bans could be detrimental to public health.

"As far as a harm reduction tool goes, vaping is a powerful tool that we should not be discouraging people from using. And the flavours are a key component to uptake." Howard now says.

We hope more politicians will finally come to the same conclusion before it's too late!

PUBLIC HEALTH POLICY: New Zealand adult smoking drops to <13%, lawmakers see value of #vaping for smoking cessation and studies show very low NZ youth uptake. However, that's not stopping them from trying to pass regulations that will reduce adult appeal.

CONNECTICUT: (UPDATE) A FLAVOR BAN was passed by the Public Health Committee and will next move to the full House. An American Cancer Society rep claims “These products are not safe, and I think they are being directly marketed to kids through these flavors. Flavors are a marketing weapon that’s used by tobacco manufacturers to target youth to a lifetime of addiction,” despite the fact that most flavors are NOT made by tobacco companies, youth surveys show that the vast majority of youth who "try" vaping do not become "addicted" and it's been shown that adults need flavors QUIT SMOKING!

CASAA will follow and update you as this bill moves on to the full House!
