E-Cigarettes: Safe Enough to Help You Quit? - How to Quit Smoking - Health.com

I am the anecdotal person at the beginning.

I think it's an excellent article with opinions from a lot of experts on both sides of the field.

EDIT: I typo'd the thread title, of all things I've ever mistyped... could a moderator fix it?

Good article. Unfortunately, however, some of the "experts" don't seem to know anything about e-cigs and are only parroting what they've heard from the FDA. Seriously, how can a health/medical expert claim e-cigs are bad for the heart and with the next breath say the risks are unknown? I believe if these "experts" did some basic research, they would be in the same camp as Dr. Seigel. They are probably too afraid of upsetting the apple cart and risk losing their funding.

I see the forum has jaded you Jersey Girl, you were so sweet and innocent, alas! The concerns of some of the experts are not unreasonable, but Schachter and Prokorov's statements at the end are really absurd. You are pretty much correct about being cynical, though. :(

Can't really blame being jaded on the forum. I try not to let it out too often tho ;)

I agree and you would think that MDs would be a little more careful about making sweeping, or unsubstantiated, claims.

BTW, I teach at UofL. It's nice to see you representing the school.
