If you don't like anything, don't buy it. But we're talking ADDICTION here, an addiction said to be as great as that experienced by ...... and ....... addicts. It's not a simple matter of "oh, I just won't smoke." Hardly.

Feeding the addiction is at the top of every smoker's grocery list. It comes before food, before medicine, before an oil change the family car needs. And the price keeps rising out of reach. That will create a kind of craziness, already seen in a murder in Turkey over "no smoking" rules (Turkey, by the way, banned e-cigs long ago).

As a long-time cigarette smoker, I can say "just not buying" is not an option for very many. Not for me. I needed options for essential nicotine, of which the e-cig is one. The pity is that the rabid anti-tobacco types can't deal with addiction's reality. Society will pay for that failure.

Perhaps, but the key is if you truly hate something like cigarettes, then your will to quit will overcome your addiction, and you will be successful. I noticed last night that a friend of mine was not smoking, so I asked if she had quit. She said that she had quit in April as soon as the new taxes hit. My father-in-law did the same after over 50 years of smoking, just put them away and that was that. My grandmother quit at age 79 after 65 years of smoking...said she was just tired of it. People do that all the time, so while I believe that some are very addicted to both the habit and the nicotine, I also believe that if the hatred for the habit or the reason for quitting is strong enough, it is truly as easy as simply not doing it anymore. I despise it when people play victim, blaming the tobacco companies or anyone other than themselves for smoking. I believe that we are all responsible for our choices. I wouldn't have it any other way. I agree that you seem to be one who is truly addicted to nicotine, so you do what you need to do to avoid cigarettes. I admire your resolve. Many smokers are not that addicted. They just need something to replace the habit, thus so many here who use no nicotine liquids.

maybe we could take up a familiar slogan for a different political argument of, "Keep your Laws Off my Body!"

sherid your argument may make some sense, and in a perfect world youre right. but if this government wants to limit my choices, it is at fault. not me. when my government no longer represents me the way they were designed to do, and only looks out for its own interests, is it still my government? do i still recognize its authority over me?

I don't get this at all, why don't the manufacturers, distributors etc etc... club together and commission a proper scientific study - they did it in New Zealand last year see healthnz.co.nz/RuyanCartridgeReport30-Oct-08.pdf
And the result, the e.cig is totally healthy but it's best not to share them or you might get hickys also don't drink the e.liquid, swallow the cartridges or stick em up your nose - or any other orifice for that matter!!
So why can't they use this in other countries too?
Out of interest where does the nicotine used in the e.liquids come from? It has to be tobacco right? So the farmers are still getting their cut yeah? It's just the ... makers and the governments who are losing out - hmm conspiracy theories all round I'd say

I totally agree with what you said. I know that I made a choice to smoke and to keep smoking. It is my problem if I get sick, not the government's or BT. They had a product I liked. I bought it and used it. I was not forced to keep doing that. Under no circumstances do I ever want to be forced to stop smoking. If I choose to do that, I will do so only because it is what I want or need to do.

Isreali originally gave them the green light. But quickly banned them because of what pappa FDA had to say. I'm waiting for the UK to follow suit.

The world... Several Countries, One Mind

It shudders the imagination.

And since I supposedly insulted Australia, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Hong Kong, maybe we can all hang out in the White House over a beer.

ROFLMAO!

Can I come? I'll vape a Samual Adams.

We had intended to use Merida, Mexico as a Free Trade Zone (been using it for other products for years) until the world started viewing e-cigs with a "I don't understand them and I'm too busy to look into them - so you can't have them. Now go out and play with your analogs"

Reminds me of the SNL skit where they passed out bags of broken glass and bandaids and told the kids to share.

Well, another Country bits the dust and expect more to follow suit. Many Countries look to the United States FDA to set the standard of the saftey of many products wheather or not the FDA is right or even conclusive.

The fallout of the FDA's recent actions will be far reaching indeed.

Sun

This is why all the attempts to reinvent e-cigs as anything other than drug delivery devices will assuradly fall on deaf ears. The whole industry (all of us included) took a holier-than-thou approach to these when they came out. With the Second Ammendment in the government's batter's box next what chance do untested products have that feel they aren't subject to regulation?

I'm not saying that being forthcoming from the start would have allowed manufacturers to compete with Big Tobacco in the propaganda/lobbyist ring, but SE and Njoys reluctance to make the slightest appearance of playing ball may have already done irreputable damage.

I hope I am very very wrong, but I don't think this will "blow over" and writing letters and emails isn't going to cut it at this point. The FDA report - while not an outright ban - will certinly have a bigger ripple effect as this thread proves.

I just read an article that refers to the Saudi Arabia ban and FDA warnings and later says ...
"Upon testing it was found that the “e-cigarette” harms human health far more than the normal cigarette and it contains 40 times as much nicotine as a regular cigarette."

That is some statement!! Have any tests come up with that result?

Forum rules won't allow me to post a link to the article.
