So I got my buzz original in yesterdays mail (I know about a year late =P), I popped on my SR carto and jacked the voltage as high as it would go. To sum up my experience, I have fallen in love; The heat of the vapor kicking me in the back of the throat is amazing and is really what captures me, does this have any known drawbacks to ones health?

Not an easy question to answer - but what is the vapor difference, if any, on a chemical level between higher and lower voltages?

My thinking is that, quantitatively, there is no difference. The vapor will be at a higher temperature, but that's all.

This is just speculation in the absence of research though.

Not only is it hard to answer, it's impossible. We'd at least have to know the atty/carto ohms to see if it equivalent watts. Even then, who knows. You'd have to test a particular configuration. There is reference in the vaping community to substances produced at higher temps (acrolein for example) .... but individual configurations vary so much... who knows. If memory serves, some studies have suggested that the amounts are lower than with cigs, or minimally present (if at all). Don't quote me on any of this, all disclaimer apply. However, I'd suggest that you see the health section for more discussion on these matters.

I'd argue a bit with the belief that higher voltage directly translates into more heat. As you add more voltage with the same resistance, the current will increase, but in practice, most people use lower res with lower voltage. What this is doing is regulating the wattage. 6v @3Ω, 5v @2Ω, & 4.2v @1.5Ω should all be roughly the same wattage, but more and more current. Current, not voltage, produces heat.

I would guess that a lot of people try LR cartos/atties on some small battery like an ego which is incapable of outputting as much current as is required. The current caps at ~1amp, which drops the voltage down into the 2's. Then, switching to 6v with decent batteries, it runs hotter. A VV mod with a good battery that can handle the current draw of either setup should run cooler at higher voltage with higher res.
