Yep, rapid heart rate and increased blood pressure are side effects of nicotine. It's likely that you are getting higher levels in your blood than you ever got with cigarettes. If you want to vape more, you need to reduce the concentration of nicotine in your liquid like wrenwen said. For the time being, if you feel your heart racing, put down the PV and do something else for a while. Don't smoke an analog while your heart is racing, that will only make it worse. Remember: nicotine is a drug and you don't want to OD.

Good luck!

Yeah me too. It's easy to over-nic yourself. At my starting level I was pretty strict about not letting myself vape all the time. When I'm at home I keep the ecigs in another room so I have to go there to vape and I don't vape constantly. Since I started I have dropped my nicotine level a few times and now I am on 4-6mg (for the bit of TH) and 0mg which I can vape as much as I want. I think my goal is to vape as much as I want or need without getting over-nicced symptoms.

I'm guessing that you're using the 'store bought' e-cigs which come with preloaded cartridges. I also started with those. Way too much nicotine for me and I was a chain smoker!

I ordered a Riva 510 and, while it has its problems, it was very easy to add any strength juice I wanted. I use 6mg in the morning with my coffee and then switch to 3mg when I hop in the car becauses I now chain vape in the car as I used to chain smoke.

The required level of nicotine seems to vary startlingly from person to person. My roommate vapes nic in the low teens and I would say that I smoked more than him before switching over...

This is a very interesting discussion. I have never noticed any problems and I haven't been checking my heart rate as a result. Now I'm very curious to see if anything is happening to me. I use the strong 24mg nicotine juice because I was at least a pack a day smoker and I like the effects. I find that I vape a bit more than I would have normally just lit up but I take fewer hits. I take between 2 and 5 puffs of vapor each time where a cigarette usually gives between 7 and 9 puffs. So I think I'm getting a higher dose of nicotine with each vape and this is good! Nicotine is just too good a drug to lay down! Analogues be gone!

I found that my heart rate stabalized once I began e-cigs. I no longer have those scary moments when the heart races out of control, or when it decides it is going to skip a beat or 3. I know that nicotine can cause an increase in heart rate, so I must be getting less nicotine from the e-cig than from the regular cigarettes.

I forgot to mention though, my heart rate tends to increase when I see the avatars and photos of the lovely women who post on this forum. But I look at that as a perk and not a problem.

You don't need to check your heart rate. If your heart starts racing, you will not be able to ignore it! It sounds like you have good control over your dose anyway. It would be a good idea for anyone consuming nicotine in any form to check their blood pressure occasionally. Once a month or so, later in the day when your nicotine levels are highest. My BP is getting a bit up there (still below hypertension, though) from analogs and I'm pretty young. You don't need to track your heart rate though.
