I never got heartburn until I turned 40. Smoking or drinking too much coffee would do it too, but over vaping and certain flavors (usually favorites) guarantees heartburn for me. Country Life Chewable Cal-Snack Vanilla Orange tablets nip it in the bud instantly for me and I get the Vitamin D and calcium bonus without all the ugly chemicals in Tums. Whole Foods sells them for a high premium if you are desperate, but plenty of internet companies sell them for 1/3 the price.

Heartburn scares me into thinking I may be having a heart attack, especially if it wakes me up. I like having instant relief so I know it's only heartburn and go right back to sleep.

Oh i like this thread - my story.
My father i recall hen i was a child always had rolls of rolaids in his pocket.
My brother who was older as time went on did the same.
I used to laugh and say look i eat anything i want and no problem i have a cast iron stomach also use to laugh at them loseing the hair also.

Well as time went i stopped laughing !
All that came and bit me in the backside heartburn and hairloss.
Took rolaids and they worked then it got worse and finally prilosec came out and that did wonders for me i had a cast iron stomach again.
Now i take over the counter walgreens stuff and its much cheaper.

Since i stopped smoking its gotten a little better and depending on what i eat i can skip a day of the pill and im ok, certain things still set if off though and vaping is not one of them.
Spicy foods and my own homemade spaghetti sauce on Sundays !

For those with mild heartburn and this works well .
When you start to feel it coming on eat a granny smith apple and it takes it away dont ask why but i heard it in past and tried it it does work for a mild case that day but it has to be the granny smith type apple.

It hit me pretty quickly when I started vaping. I've always had some issue, but vaping definitely brought it on pretty strong. The last couple of days haven't been nearly as bad. I'm in my fourth week vaping and from everything I've read, I should be on my way back to "normal".

The majority of advice I've found on the forum is to watch what you eat until you start getting to the end of the smoking detox phase. Unfortunately, that varies greatly from person to person it seems.

Best wishes! And keep that antacid handy!

I go to Wally World and get their Equate acid reducer. I take one every morning. It nips it in the bud and then you pretty much don't need antacid. I have a smoker and I like BBQ sauce along with some hot pepper so when I am eating those foods I watch. When drinking beer with the BBQ sauce it feels like it grabs all the burny stuff and brings it up to my throat. Those are the times I take another acid reducer to make sure I can lay down and sleep at night because it sucks waking up with that feeling and after you think it is ok and lay back down it starts again. Sleeping with a bunch of pillows isn't the most comfortable way to sleep either or you may as well sit up.
Chewing gum promotes saliva and this changes the chemistry and helps calm it down as well.

thanks all. At the time I posted, I was trying out different flavors so I've switched back to my regular vape and it's not as bad. I've also laid off chocolate (ugh!) because I think that wasn't helping it either!!

And beezer, I've also had to deal with those nights of sleeping on a bunch of pillows...NOT FUN! I did nibble on an apple and that helped calm it too.
