I have never experience heartburn to this extremity. Actually, I have. I lied. But anyhow, it's been pretty consistent and hardcore. Anyone know how to combat this besides Prilosec OTC? I was heartburn free for quite some time and not as reoccurring as it is now after I started vaping.

I'm guessing we are all getting heartburn from the nicotine's acidity? What do you guys do?

I hear ya. My Italian gut crushes me with heartburn. I've been on Prilosec since Prilosec came out, way before it was OTC. Without it, orange juice was like drinking battery acid. With it, I can eat anything and not feel it.

When I started vaping, I felt it again, even with the Prilosec. I have noticed that its subsided a bit. Not sure why. I'm trying to figure out if it's a particular juice or just getting used to it.

If my lungs are clearing themselves out, which I hope they are as I've been analog free for about a month now, I'll deal with the little bit of heartburn.

I exzperienced the same even though never had heartburn before vaping..so I looked for ways to balance the acidity of PG and nicotine with anything alkaline.
I drink a few glasses of mineral water San Pellegrino "contains high level of sulphates in particular and this makes it one of the few true alkaline water types".
Another drink ,although less appetizing, is a small 4 oz glass of warm water mixed with a tsp of baking soda..
Hope you feel better soon!

I found the thing that worked for me was the Prilosec. Never had a heartburn issue prior to vaping, but boy was pretty bad at the begining. Have been vaping about 6 months now and have not had an episode in quite a while, months in fact. Think it may be just a matter of getting used to it? I also found that vaping 36mg liquids would likely bring it on. Cutting back to 18 and 24mg liquid has also made a big difference. I save the 36 for especially stressful times now and have not had a problem with heartburn for some time now. Good luck!

Good point. I was trying to figure out if it may have been a juice. When I started I was using 24mg and 36mg. That's when I had it the worst. I'm on 18mg now and it's much better. I have 11mg and 6mg on order so I'm hoping for the best.

It tastes horrible, but fresh juiced cabbage not only seetles the heartburn, but is also a homeopathic remedy that is said to heal ulcers. I have yet to be able to stomach the stuff, but 2 prior generations of my family have done it with great results. 6 ounces a day for approximately 4-6 weeks.

I agree Fredrick..I have a family member who has ulcerative colitus and one who had always dealt with heartburn...I've read up on the positivie studies they have done regarding fresh juiced cabbage for ulcers etc..

By the way, I add a little apple or carrot to make it more palatble for them Fredrick..Just enough to add a little natual sweetness.

Yes, the apple and carrot are devilishly good, but that almost slimey cabbage juice takes some nerve to get down some times. Sometimes I go to a more earthy sweetness with fresh beets too. I used to be really big into juicing, but lifstyle changes got me away from it. The juicers are such a pain to clean too, but it's a major trade-off for the health benefits. I'll most likely re-invent that aspect of my life, now that I'm altering it for the better again.

I have had recurring troubles with heartburn/acid reflux for years. Used to go through a big bottle of Tums every week. Finally it got so bad that I couldn't sleep lying down, and my doctor prescribed 20mg Prilosec/day. This gave me a great deal of relief once I had taken it for about a week.

I haven't had a hint of heartburn related to vaping that I can tell.

Prototype Hi I was getting heartburn and dizziness, lightheadness etc I just start out with a high nic and cut it with vg and if it is flavorless I also use loraines oils. I think some of us are more sensitive to nicotine then others plus I am sure that the tobacco industeries put so much other things in the analongs that we dont seem to get a straight hit of nic. I dont know if you tried this or not just putting my 2 cents in.

Just as "WildJC" said, It's from swallowing toooo much air. I wrap my forefinger across my lips to block the air when I draw (This also helps draw in & hold more vapor-I used to see my Dad do this when he smoked a pipe, know I know why, you get more out of it)

Just make sure your lips aren't open around the mouth piece.

Might sound weird, but also, if you get heartburn really bad, from sucking in air, it helps if you can make yourself "belch", to try and get the trapped air out, Keep doing this until you feel it release. You can also combine this with patting yourself on the back or chest can help release it if you have trouble.

I know it may sound weird, but it really does relieve the air pressure that's built up in your wind pipe and esophagus/chest area. Sometimes just simply opening your mouth real wide like your gonna yawn will do it.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, eh.

There's really much more to this, than merely swallowing too much air while drawing, or acid content in PG. Scientists believe that nicotine (regardless of it's source) causes the LES (Lower Esophageal Sphincter), the muscle between the bottom of the esophagus and the top of the stomach, to relax more than it typically would. This relaxation allows a backwash of stomach acids and enzymes back up into the esophagus. Think of this muscle as sort of a one-way valve, designed too allow food IN to the stomach, but not to allow anything OUT, and thereby preventing anything (including stomach acid, enzymes, etc.) to back up into the esophagus. The esophagus is also biologically designed somewhat different than the stomach, in that it cannot tolerate those stomach acids and enzymes.

And I quote from the WebMD website: Impairing the function of the LES. "The nicotine in tobacco seems to lower the pressure in the lower esophageal sphincter," says Cheskin. The reduced pressure could allow stomach acids and enzymes to back into the esophagus." per the following website.

Heartburn & Tobacco: Effects of Smoking, Chewing, and More

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of websites where this information is addressed. You can merely type "nicotine" and "GERD" or "Acid Reflux" into Google or any search engine, and look for more.

My own personal experience can attest to this. I am diagnosed with GERD, as well as Hiatal Hernia, which further complicates issues derived from the use of nicotine. For those unfamiliar, a Hiatal Hernia is when a small portion of one's stomach, protrudes up through the diaphragm (the muscles separating the stomach (and organs below), from the chest cavity above. This further distorts the region surrounding or adjacent to the LES causing additional acid backwash problems.

In spite of taking medicine on a regular basis to combat GERD, if I attempt to use nicotine levels much above 11mg, I will get into trouble with severe heartburn, and worse. Even 11 can affect this condition at times, and I need to be lower. I tend to try to use nicotine levels of 6mg or 0mg, to try to avoid this problem.
