VG is cheaper idk...it's all about $ here why? We pretend we care about others' health but it's simply not true, if u can't pay ur hospital bills ur out on the street...we're the only 1st world country w/o free healthcare so I can tell u w/ absolute certainty that us liquids do not have more vg because it's healthier.... besides idk what you're even talking about, where'd u acquire this information cuz most vendors let u pick ur pg/vg ratio....

My question is because I recently started to create my own liquids, I was able to get some flavorings from Europe, very strong IMO, when creating a PG based liquid (85-15), I just need to add .7 Ml /10 Ml of flavoring to get good flavor, on the other hand, when creating a VG based liquid I need to add almost 2 Ml!! to "pair" the flavor that I'm getting on the PG liquid.

Clarifying that this is not a DIY question, Is it not less healthier in general perspective to add more flavorings to liquids? I understand that some people may have PG allergy and cannot tolerate PG liquids but other than that I cannot understand why there is this crush for VG liquids.

This is not to scare anyone but I recently found this study:

Formaldehyde in Vapor

It mentions that Formaldehyde was found on some e cigarettes vapor and concludes that this came from VG liquids..... I am not going into the discussion of how much harmful is Formaldehyde but maybe were driving our demands on perceptions.

It's a good question and I think your insights into it with regards flavoring are onto something.

I also think that there is a lot to be discussed on this topic from a historical perspective as well. My experience years ago was that ALL juice was PG and from China. Some companies would sell special gimmick products to add extra vapor to your juice like flavorless VG, and there was another one I can't remember that didn't catch on. The Chinese didn't change the way they produced atomizer, clearomizers, and cartomizers to wick properly with thicker juice though and now there is a huge mess with folks getting a burnt taste with heavy juices and they don't know why.

Darkhood, so eloquently stated that we are a first world nation without universal health care, but he failed to mention that we are also the oldest cigarette smoking nation. We exported the habit. Other nations tax smoking higher than we do to pay for the health cost and acted quicker to embrace vaping. As a result of us acting slower we were able to take advantage of VG being a superior vape than PG.

The correlation between Chinese vaping devices to incompatible American e liquid is dramatic. For example, try 100% VG in a vivi nova, kanger t3, CE 2,3,4,5, or a cartomizer and you see an obvious disconnect.

If these products actually worked NOBODY would bother with a hybrid mod.

I am not sure US juices are actually VG heavy. I think it's the fact there is a lot more options when you get into the US specialty market. The overseas juices seem to be more mass produced flavors (at least the ones we see here in the States), and I think PG helps with flavor so that tends to be the mass produced variety. With the US mass produced juices, they also seem to be mostly PG. Yet when you get into specialty shops, they not only include more options but also need to set themselves apart from the pack. VG does that along with the fact some people have an issue with PG. It meets a niche market.

I am trying to understand why US E Liquids have heavy VG concentration? is it because the general impression is that VG is healthier than PG?

It has to do with performance, not health. I don't know of any vendors who claim vg is healther than pg. In fact, effects of inhaling pg has been studied a lot more, so vg is more of an unknow, but widely accepted by most of us as "probably" safe.

Vg performs different than pg, and different ratios perform differently. That's the reason it's common for US vendors to offer choices for the ratio, where before it was pg only juices from China. Adding from a little to a lot of vg increases vapor, while pg allows more throat hit from the nic to be felt. People have preferences, and vendors responded by giving us these choices. Also, pg-free vendors came out to form their own niche by offering juices that people with pg allergies can use.

There is still a lot of "propriety" ratios and vendors who don't offer a choice in ratios, but in my experience they are in the minority. So I don't see it as US juices being vg heavy, but having the option of being vg heavy.
