Thank you all again.

*gracious bows to all sides*
OK, so I have to be a bit maudlin for a moment. Just bear with me...
All this feedback means more to me than y'all could know. I am putting everything I've got - whatever I've got left, anyway - into writing. In my situation, I see it as my only way to make a significant difference in the world. I've never succeeded in a pursuit of what I'd consider high nobility. Teacher of the young. Builder of homes. Healer of the sick or wounded. Protector of people, or of animals, or of the Earth. Making myself beneficial in any very significant way. Maybe I was just never built to be great at any such moral endeavor.
But I think I can write, and I'll do so more and more. At first, entertaining conversations or scenarios that might reach far enough to be considered (very) short stories. After that...who knows? Success in positively affecting people's lives would make my life complete in a way that I've never known before. And if I fail? Then I'll just work harder at it.
I've been posting things here and there over the past few years, sometimes to entertain, sometimes to teach or assist, but also to utilize the platforms available to me to serve as a gauge of reception and opinion. A measure of the (hopefully) increasing quality of my efforts. I can look at something I create before I share it with anyone and maybe be able to tell whether it has any value, at least in a general sense. But feedback from readers anonymous to me is the gauge that will mean the most. The ones who don't know me, or owe me loyalty, or have any particular incentive to praise or denounce. Those are the ones whose reactions, positive or otherwise, I will cherish the most.
I love writing because it's pure. And it's permanent. The written word, as well as other forms of art, is how we know our past. It's often how we teach or help each other. It's how most of our distant communication takes place. And as we proceed through the age of the internet, I see the written word only becoming more important.
So, there will be more to come. Vaping related? In this forum. (Or wherever a moderator may decide.) Otherwise? The Lounge. And of course, across as much of cyberspace as I can reach.
They say "once something is on the internet, it can never be taken off it." Just the thing a writer loves to hear. Not that I yet consider myself graced with that title. It is, though, what I will be striving for most of all. To give the gift of a well written story, and hopefully one day as a career, should enough people in the world consider any of my work worth remuneration.
All of your words of kindness are very greatly appreciated. Any criticism will be as well, as it's at least as important to learn from a failure as from a success.
And in the meantime, vape on!
(Also in the meantime, for me to finally make up my mind on a 510-compatible mod. Before she kills me.)
