Dude, i know... it's not me. Ive been married 11 years and never had a kid, so I thought I would ask you guys and gals. I just didn't know what to tell her. The doctors "say" they baby is healthy and everything looks good so far, even though she was doing nothing about it for 5 months, but I wasn't sure if she should try any nicotine at first just to get off cigs (since e-cigs give you significantly less nic than a analog) or if I should just tell her no nic... I guess I could get her a kit with no nic and not tell her. It's not like she will know, she's never even used one before. Anyone know if PG or VG would be better??

That's what I'd do. She'll be stressing from the pregnancy anyways and might not notice withdrawl symptons so much if she's got something to fiddle with. Get her some 0 nic juice too, just re-bottle it. The placebo effect on her with the hormonal changes of the baby should keep you from being discovered. BUT, family will RAT you out! So don't tell anyone or any of her friends, because sooner or later someone will talk. 8-o

The cigarette packages say smoking may cause low birth rate and prematurity in pregnant women. I smoked with all three of my kids and each got bigger and came later. The whole don't smoke when you're pregnant thing came when the anti's started making noise.

My mother smoked in the labor room when she was pregnant with me. As happy as I am that I haven't smoked in 7 months, and I think e-cigs are a wonderful alternative, I think the uproar about pregnant smokers is way overblown and society has bought that if you're pregnant and smoke you should be ostracized. It seems that "science" is sometimes just good marketing.

Just going out on a limb here, I would suppose that smoking during a pregnancy or even after and breast feeding that most women wouldn't want to give their child a head start on a nicotine addiction. Or that they wouldn't want their child to be harmed through oxygen deprivation while in the womb. For example an alcoholic mom gives birth to a child that's already an alcoholic, or how about a crack baby born to a crack addict? My mother smoked a bit after my conception, according to her. However, she says that I must not have liked it. She said I would make her sick when she smoked. She quit and all these years later I've never seen her light up. I have seen photos of her smoking though. On the other hand, I grew up and smoked like a chimney for 32 years.
