Hello all, clueless newbie looking for advice! :)

Hi everyone,

I've been half-thinking of giving up smoking for a quite a while but the problem is- I don't want to, even though I wish I did want to. I'm 19 but have been smoking on and off since I was 15 but I just can't give up for long before stress gets to me and I'm back in the habit, and having seen what smoking has done for the health of my grandparents- I feel it would be sensible to take some kind of action, even if I don't give up nicotine- so here I am :).

At the moment I'm using a disposable e-cig alongside tobacco to cut down and I've sworn once my pouch is finished I won't buy another. The disposable e-cig isn't great but keeps the craving away to a certain degree. However it is totally unsatisfying with regards to general smoking pleasure, and that's something I find myself very reluctant to give up. I feel nothing go into my lungs, don't see or feel anything leave and there's a really faint taste not dissimilar to filling up a glass with water after it has just had squash in it and drinking it. In other words I'm looking to invest in an e-cigarette that will still give me something comparible to the pleasure of smoking whilst still taking care of nicotine cravings. Oh, and I'm a student so it needs to be relatively affordable... Lol.

Any advice on what to do/buy/think about would be greatly appreciated as I am totally clueless,

McKinty12 :)

Oh, and if it's any use... I am familiar with most of the well-known UK e-cig vendors and can advise you if you find something else you like the look of.

(There are a few companies out there that will rip you off in an instant. One of them is actually quite near to you. They charge £89.99 for the same kits you can buy for £30 at most vendors)

I'm pretty much in the same boat, but the wife and I are planning on getting mvp 2 when we get our taxes back. I've heard good things about them and you can charge your phone or other usb powered devices.
You can find decent prices on ebay for most styles.

The downside for me is that I can't flick ash on an ecig and have had sore figures for trying which is why I'm going with the box style.

Seems like I'm rambling now sorry if I'm not much help.

Check YouTube for video reviews of vaporizers in action. Might help find one that produces enough vapor to suit your needs.

Welcome to the forums mate, i got my starter kit from TABlites when i started vaping :) £20 nets you a battery, CE4 clearomiser, a USB Charger and an e-liquid, perfect starting point :)

TABlites Cyclone CE4 | eGo Electronic Cigarette | E Cig | Manchester

If you start simple with what's called an eGo kit you can go wherever you want from there :)

McKinty, I was in the exact same boat when I started. I had no motivation to quit smoking other than I knew it was bad for me. Even then I had no intention of quitting because I loved smoking.

Long story short a couple of buddies started vaping and I was curious because they were hobbyist always talking about amps, ohms, voltage etc. So having the engineering type mind I have I kinda got excited. When I started it wasn't the same sensation as smoking per se but it was also awesome in its own way for me because I could tinker with so many cool gadgets.

E-cigs are not allowed on ebay in the UK. Anything on there will be classed as something else and the buyers then have less protection if something goes wrong.

If someone can find a "genuine" Innokin or Kanger product, then fair enough. Most of it is cheap clone rubbish.

So where did you get the disposable?
From the description you gave, I'm guessing it's a low strength menthol.
There's a UK forum where you might find out what vape places are in your area.
UK Forum

Chances are theres somewhere you can get eliquid from.
Once you have a source of eliquid, then you'd want to get a tank and battery/power supply.

I'd recommend a miniprotank2 and itaste vv v3 as a good startup, low cost kit.

Oh; and whereever you got that disposable, you might want to check there again; chances are they have several options including higher strength, and non menthol;
For me, disposables were my first step and provided for transitioning; and if you do get a tank and get eliuid you don't care much for, having a disposable available locally as a backup is a big plus to keep you from the ashtray.

Hey edyle,
The disposable just came from a Savers shop in the town centre, and you're right, it says its a mid-strength menthol, but I don't feel anything comparible to my usual roll-ups from it.
Thanks for the forum link :)

That sounds familiar; bet it's in a blue sealed package too and has a reddish orange LED on the front.

You got to look at the package real careful to figure out the menthol from the tobacco;
They will likely have HIGH. So look for the High, tobacco. Should cost about the same as 1 pack of cigarettes.

I was the same way - not ready to give up my cigarettes when I started vaping.My first exposure to vaping was a gas station cig-a-like, and I liked it, but knew there was no way it would replace my analogs. So I decided to upgrade. I started with an Ego-T Kit from TW, then moved to a VV device, and that was much better for my needs. My biggest issue was in finding a juice that tasted good to me (Took 2 years - finally found the right juices by reading the forums here!). I don't know what you're looking for in a device, but I second the iTaste vv and the clearo/tank/carto of your choice combo. It's a nice VV/VW device, and won't break the bank. Everyone is different, of course, but for me, I needed the VV/VW plus a very particular flavor of juice in order to be able to step away from the analogs.
