Hello everyone!

I just found this site and I'm looking forward to learning alot about vaping and hopefully using this knowledge to be able to become a satisfied "vaper" and hang up the real cigarettes!

I have been a pack a day smoker for 15 years now and I just recently bought my first e-cig starter kit from blu about a month ago. At first I was very happy and amazed at how much the blu simulated real smoking. But within a few days I became rather disappointed.

My blu worked great the first 2 days but by day 3 it started acting up. Starting on day 3 I would get 1-2 good hits from the blu with alot of vapor, then I would get nothing and the light would start to flash every time i took a hit. I tried switching the battery and the atomizer and this worked initially, but then the same thing started to happen.

After reading some posts on this site I tried twisting the new cartridge on one full turn, then removed it and cleared the foil off the atomizer. I also started packing the cig a few times before use. Doing this has eliminated the battery flashing and I am getting better vapor than before. But still, after 3-4 drags I get almost no vapor and then I have to repack the cig and twist the cartridge again. If this is what I have to do to be able to "smoke" this thing then I am very disappointed.

I did write to johnson creek and asked them about filling my own cartridges for the blu and they said that I can buy the DSE103 cartridges and remove the filling and replace it with the filling in my blu cartridges and then fill the cartridges on my own. I am going to buy their starter kit tomorrow and attempt doing this with hopes that my blu will work better than it has, but of course I am skeptical since the blu only worked 3 days out of the box as it is.

I really want to begin vaping happily and hang up the real cigarettes, but to do so I need an e-cig that "works" and that I dont have to constantly "mess" with after every 3-4 drags.

My questions are as follows:

* Is there (in your opinions) a better e-cig than the blu, one that gives more vapor and less hassles?
* Do you all think I will begin to get more vapor and less hassle with my blu by filling my own cartridges?
* Are there better atomizers for the blu than the ones included with it?
* What e-cig overall seems to provide the most vapor?
* What is the proper way to clean the blu atomizers?
* What other tricks do you recommend me to try with the blu?

Sorry I have so many questions but I REALLY want to be a "happy" vapor so to speak and if it means that I need to buy a different e-cig than the blu I have no problem doing just that. I feel that vaping has alot to offer for me and that it could be very satisying, I just need to know more about it.

I appreciate everybody's input and knowledge ALOT and any info you can provide me will be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks in advance and I look forward to being an active member of this site and getting to know you all!!!

I am also new to vaping. My first e cig was a blu after a few days i returned it. I did some research and just purchased the joye ego. From what i read its one of the best e cigs for the price (around 50 bucks) Also i read that volcano attys work a little better than blus (not by much) the magma/inferno attys from blu will not fit the blu. Hope this helps and as always,

From what i've heard the blu is a big pile of doody.

I was turned on to the ecig by a mate who'd kind of done all the research for me.

If I were to recommend one to a total beginner I'd go straight to the eGo starter kit. then buy yourself a bunch of sampler packs of ejuice and find a flavour that suits you. That'll get you going and keep you off the analogues. ;-)

After you've got the eGo if you find things not working QUITE right for you, try a few different atomisers, cartomisers, etc. They're cheap to buy, and definitely a lot cheaper than smoking, so you can experiment a lot to find your sweet spot.

Have fun!

I own a couple of Egos and they are everything I hoped they would be when I ordered them 14 weeks ago. I have never owned any other type of PV, but from everything I have read on this forum in the past 3 months or so, the Ego will definitely out perform the Blu in all areas.

It is my humble opinion that you should just set the Blu aside and go with an upgrade to Ego or Riva.

You will enjoy a much longer battery life and there is no twisting or turning the cartridge or atty to get it to work right. Of course the biggest challenge with E-cigs is finding the right juice. Or that can be the fun part too.

Cut your losses and get a different model PV (personal vaporizer). Just about any PV is better than the Blu. As others have mentioned, for a new user I would suggest an eGo. Plenty of reputable suppliers listed on this forum sell them. Based on you tobacco use, I would suggest getting 24mg nic strength e-liquid and refilling blank carts. Costs less and better tasting. And if you get to the point where you would like to try a PV that provides great throat hit (simulates the real thing) and long battery life, check out a 5 volt PV. Some of the better priced ones are from Ken's Box Mods:

Actually there are a lot of Blu owners out there and some people swear by them. Others swear at them and recommend you buy something else. If you want to get the most out of your Blue try the Blu-electronic-cigarettes-forum here on ECF. If you get more than 5 posts you can ask your questions there where you'll find some people knowledgeable about the Blu. By the way, the Blu will accept 510 cartomizers and atomizers but the batteries are not interchangable since they are reversed polarity so you might just pick up some 510 carto's and see if that helps.

Thanks everybody for all the quick replies!!

I definetely think I am going to try my luck with a different pv. Right after I started my thread I was looking at the Modern Vapor Sidesho and was really interested in trying the Sidesho out since it seems to have a lot more options regarding parts, juices, customizing, etc...........

I was wondering if you all know anything with regards to the Sidesho. Do you think it will perform better than the blu? Is this something that I may be happier with?

I will also check out the Joye eGo and research it as well. I looked quickly at it yesterday and it seems like it has a tipped cigar type of tip instead of looking like a regular cigarette such as the sidesho. Does this seem to bother anyone? Also, does the eGo seem to outperform the Sidesho? I do like that the Sidesho looks them same as a traditional cig as opposed to the eGo but I value all of your experience alot. If the eGo seems to outperform the Sidesho a good bit in your opinions than I may need to give it a try first anyhow.

Once again thank you all so much for your responses and I truly value all of your time! Once I hit my 5 post minimum I will start posting my questions in more relevant forums.

Sorry, one more thing ..........................

I just began quickly checking out "box mods". I still need to learn a lot more about what exactly they are but it appears to me that it is like an e-cig with a "box" attached. Do you vape it with the box attached or is the box just used to charge it?

I dont know how I feel about vaping from a cig with a box attached to it. Seems like it would be a little akward feeling and looking in my own opinion.

Was it hard for some of you to get used to this as well? I would definitely consider trying something like this in the future but I would first like to find something that looks and feels more like a traditional cig which is why i am looking at the sidesho.

Thanks

Okay honestly i wouldn't buy the sideshow it looks just like the basic volcano model. If you would like something that looks like a cig that preforms good from what i read is the joye 510. I was going to buy that but i read you get like 2 hrs out of a battery vs 6-8 hrs with the ego. (reason its big and looks like a cigar) Hope this helps and as always,

I've started with the Joye 510 and switched to the Joye eGo.
Personally I would go with the eGo :)

I am a newbie too and don't know much about the other e cigs except the Joye510 and the eGo. But I can tell you that I am a happy camper now that I got my eGo.

I am not sure what you mean about the tips. I looked at the Sidesho and it looks like it uses the round tips. When I bought my Joye510 from cignot I had a choice of whistle tip (flat) or the round tip. I chose the whistle tips. My eGo kit came with 2 complete e cigs and both had the round tip. I thought I would like the whistle tips but since using the round tips on my eGo I am finding I like them a lot better.

I hope you are able to make a decision soon. I spent weeks checking out e cig supplier websites and reading this forum and talking to some oneline friends who have been vaping for a while. Just learning the terminology took a while...lol. Like atty is atomizer and cart is a cartridge. One morning I said...Maggie you gotta start somewhere. But just like anything else you are always looking for something bigger and better. But I think the Joye 510 or the eGo is a great starting point for us newbies.

Good luck!!!

If you're interested in a basic boxmod check out the madvapes 510 boxmod kit. The picture shows you what's in one. For $7.99 and a little soldering you've got a mod, just add batteries and a charger. The total comes to about $30, shipping included. They also sell them assembled for around $24. Plus the atomizers, cart's and carto's are interchangeable with the standard 510 and the eGo.

The reason there has been a vast increase in the different types of 5 volt PV's (a regular PV such as the 510 is 3.7 volts) is because so many of us who have vaped for a while find that 5 volt PV's are the ideal power level for optimum vaping. There are many different types of 5 volt PV's. The Box Mod is just the least expensive of the 5 volt models. I would suggest you check out this site which summerizes both 3.7 volt and 5 or 6 volt mod type PV's:

Best e-Cig Mod List | e-Cig Mods Database

But to answer your question, many of us who use 5 volt PV's, including the Box Mod type, are not the types who are concerned about how we "look" to others. In fact, one of the extra advantages to vaping on a Mod, in addition to how well they perform, is that non-smokers do not think you are still smoking. And for me that is a big plus because I am an ex-smoker, proud of that fact and don't want to get into a disagreement with someone thinking I am still smoking.

Another well supported 5 volt PV on this forum is the GLV. It costs more than a Box Mod but is round instead of square. Here is the web site:

Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

I hope this was helpful and good luck!

Well, you all have been a HUGE help. From what I gather, and from what I've decided my only decision now is between the eGo and the 510.

What is the best site, in your opinions, to go to for wide selection of juices, parts, batteries, etc......

Also, what do you suggest the best kit, setup would be to go with?

I dont mind the price, I just want to make sure I have enough parts, juices, batteries, etc..... to keep me going a while. I also want the biggest battery I can get without having to fill my carts every couple drags. ( I think my "lingo" is getting better !!!! )

I was on madvapes.com and thevaporking.com but I want to make sure I find the "best" site who I can stick with and rely on for all my vaping needs to come. But I'm also very impatient :) so I will probably be ordering the 510 or eGo in the next day or two!!! ( probably the eGo from all the advice I received )

Also, I've smoked menthol cigs my whole life, specifically the new camel menthols with the menthol capsule in the filter, because I love the strong, cool, menthol taste. What juices and brands can you recommend I might be happiest with? Of course I am going to order some cool flavors as well because, well why not? the more fun I have with vaping the better my chances of quitting regular cigs completely. Smoking regular cigs was never this fun!!!!

Thanks again to all of you and I'm so glad I found these forums!!!

The "510" part is basically the atomizer, really because the eGo is basically just a bigger battery for the 510. I use both. I like the smaller 510 when I go out or for short rides because it is smaller and fits nicely in my pocket and just has a more elegant look to it. I use the eGo at home and long rides because the battery lasts a lot longer. So if you get a 510 kit, you can easily upgrade to an eGo by buying a battery and charger. Or the other way around, if you buy an eGo kit, you can buy just 510 batteries and a charger, if you felt like you wanted them. The eGo batteries won't fit in a standard 510 charger without an adapter.

The difference between the two is battery life. A big difference.

As for supplier, I like cignot. Great prices, extremely fast shipping and have never had an issue with anything I've bought from them.

If you're set on an eGo and want it fast try Litecigusa.net, they have great service, fast shipping and decent prices, and they're close to you so you should have it by Wed if you order online today. Personally with the eGo I don't think you need the PCC. If you're intent on having one try Cignot eGo PCC. I've got the Mega batt's and they last around 12 hours each. Just take an extra batt with you if you're going to be gone quite a while and you'll be covered. I'd order an extra batt, preferably a Mega, around 60ml of juice in different strengths and flavors, a couple of extra atty's, a box of cart's, and a box of cartomizers. As far as menthol juice, try VaporBomb.com, they have some strong menthol if that's what you're into. A couple of drops in a cart along with some tobacco juice and you've got it. They have a chat box on their webpage so you can ask them for a recommendation before you buy.

I would definitely recommend the eGo over the stock 510 due to the much better battery life. As mentioned by others, the eGo is just a 510 with a better battery. Although the 510 atomizer is one of the most popular atomizer sizes on this forum, there are many of us that prefer some of the other size atomizers because they vape differently. I use 5 volt PV's exclusively. Since the 510 vapes a little "hotter" than other atomizers, I find it too hot on a stronger battery like the 5 volt. I use the 801/BE112 atomizer because it vapes a little cooler but holds much more e-liquid. So, over time, you may want to experiment with different atomizers if you really enjoy vaping.

As far as "one stop shopping", that is hard to answer. Most suppliers have their plusses and minuses. Several of the already mentioned suppliers have good reputations. After getting a couple of PV's (most who vape have at least two different PV's if not more), most of us choose a supplier(s) based on their e-liquid and what tastes good to us. Price and delivery speed and cost are also a factor. Here are some suppliers that I know to be reputable but may or may not fit your needs:

Im new just like everyone on the new members forum. I have been vaping for just over 2 months now. My first PV was the Joye 510 starter kit. Massive vapor but the batteries don't last long and take forever to recharge. So i bit the bullet and bought a Totally Wicked SDMKII (Screwdriver) and it is amazing, I would recommend it to anyone starting out. Lots of vapor and the batteries last all day or more. Also Tasty Vapor juice is amazing and cheap.
