Hello to all as I am a new member but I ran into an issue and needed some advise.
I'm fairly new to vaping (about a week off cigs) And i recently picked up a Aspire odyssey kit which comes with a Aspire pegasus with a triton 2 tank. After cleaning out the tank and refilling the juice i started getting really harsh hits, almost gaging. At first i thought the juice i was using went bad, But i changed that and i changed the coil a couple times and there still a harshness that i get with most hits that wasnt there before today. Is it possible then when i was running a cotton swab through the chimney that some got stuck in there and thats why? I'm worried about what it is i'm vaping because i dont know what would happen if i'm smoking cotton and don't know it. I apologize if i sound ignorant, and i swear to got i'm not trolling cause i can only imagine how stupid this may sound to some people. Anyway any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.

hi there,
few questions, 1. what did you clean the tank out with, water and a clean swab or some chemecals etc, 2. are you using high pg? 3. how much time are you leaving between puffs/how long are your puffs/do you hold the button down before or after you begin to draw through the atty?

sorry to sound scary with so many questions, they are all i can think right now, unless ether your coming down with a throat cold (like i just had) or your coils are very new, and need to burn off some of the factory oil and .... on the coils.

if you were 'smoking cotton' as you say you would know, it will taste like absolute ....e, like eating a lump of charcoal or some cigarette ash, and when you chainge your coil they will be a dark brown/black colour.

im not much help but im summin aha, best of luck to you xx

If it were me, I would check with the vendor that I bought the eliquid from to ask whether they list pg or vg first. Is this a new flavor or vendor for you? I have found that most vendors are pretty happy to answer questions like that.

Are you using a new coil? Are the ohms on the new coil different from the one you replaced? A drastic change in ohms may affect things.

Is your setup variable wattage and/or variable voltage? If so, start low and work your way up until you find your "sweet spot" for that eliquid on that device. I had a terrible time when I moved up from a simple, non variable Kanger Evod battery to a CoolFire IV. Once I remembered that my new equipment has variable voltage and wattage, I have had no problems (other than a slight headache from smacking myself upside the head for not thinking about it sooner).

Good luck in discovering what the problem is. Honestly, vaping is great and very enjoyable once you get some of those little kinks worked out.

The thing is i tried the flavor before and it was fine. But most of my juice is between 60-80% VG but this one was thinned so i was probly 30%vg.

I was using the clapton coil for about 2 or 3 days when it started getting harsh, so I tried the other coils which was a nickel .1 ohm, in tc mode, and a 1.8 ohm coil.

As far as I can tell It's variable wattage only, plus tc for the nickel.

Thanks a lot the the response guys.

It seems like the harshness is starting to go away.

I still wonder if a piece of cotton got stuck in the chimney and started burning.

Oh yeah, as far as nicotine level i use the lowest dose whenever i can, 3% i think or milligrams or whatever lol

I have the triton mini and no problems. I run 70vg with 18mg nicotine using the nickel coil in tc mode. (yes the nicotine is high but i'm still a new non smoker lol). I do notice that when i use that tank on the pegasus i run it at 430 degrees but when I put it on my evic 60 tc i have to run it at 520 degrees. I have no idea why, but it works fine on both mods. Just make sure you are using the right coil. Nickel shouldn't be run on wattage mode.

11 posts and no mention (yet) of power?

Not all coils work well at certain power (watts) and not all printed watt ranges on the coils are accurate or applicable to certain liquids.

my bad, i didn't think to mention that but to answer your question, I found the sweet spot as far as taste to be between 40 and 45 watts with the clapton .5 ohm coil which is within the rated range i believe, and with the tc coil i dont really know the optimal temp because it seems to take much longer to heat up my hit ends before it gets up to whatever i set it at. (Maxed at 600 degrees it takes about 6 or 7 seconds to get up that high when its not already hot.

when you get the harshness, it's time to turn down the power.

first thing that came to my mind is that your tastebuds are just improving and you're just tasting what was always there.
