hello everyone.
i smoked a pack a day for about 15 years. my wife was a smoker too but not as long as me. we have a 10 month old daughter and we both put the smokes down as soon as we found out she was pregnant. just cold turkey done.
we didnt smoke at all for the 9 months she was carryng and we were both good untill about 3 month ago.

i got my finger amputated at work (great job, just dangerous) and my other finger was split down the middle.
long story short, the nervousness/anxiety kicked in for us both and almost immediately we both wanted to smoke but with my daughter, that was out of the question. we bought the small ones with the pre filled cartridges but really, they suck, imo.

after i went through my surgery and found out the king of nerve damage i am left with and perm pain, we decided we 'needed' the nicotine still so we went the route with the e-liquids. we love them.

manual buttons, flavors, strengths.... it's great.....

we have dropped some cash on juice and batteries and such but the question is, what do you guys and gals all carry your 'device' in when you're out and about? i found out quick that mine was too long for my pocket and the stuff i have found is expensive. maybe not to you but to me, i don't like dropping $20ish on just some type of case.

anyway, my wife likes to crotchet and she has been making us little custom cases for our gear and they're awesome.

so, whats your case type of choice? always been into keeping my gear/gadgets/things in cases and protected.

good to e-meet you all.

also, definately never going back to old school smokes ever.... the e-liquids are the shizz.

Hi Scuffler! Congrats to both you and your wife for staying committed to being tobacco free. It is terribly difficult at times, and you two made the right decisions.

I am also a needle worker, and have just finished a lanyard that I crocheted in #10 rainbow thread, and I'm working on a matching "mini purse" to keep my juice bottles, tanks etc in. No pictures just yet, perhaps I will post some up this week.

I would love to see what you two are rockin your gear in too!

hats cool. my wife has been crotcheting forever... she has always hooked us up with cool, custom stuff. when i was still working at the foundry, before i got hurt she would make me custom beanies for under my hard hat. i used to hook my buddies up with them too. had all these roughneck type foundrymen wearing custom crotchet items from my wife... ha

she has tons of purses, messenger bags, makeup cases and other shes made. she made my mom a messenger bag out of her favorite colors with the beatles all over it. of course hats, mitts, and socks for our daughter.

she is in the k now but i'm not. dont know what #10 thread is. i mean of course it's thread and i'm guessing a guage size....
i'll ask my wife.
when you say needle working so you mean crotchet or sew?

cool to have custom gear isnt it?

i'll gather some pics

Hi and Welcome to ECF. Sorry to hear about your hand. I hope it gets better soon. I use a Ego starter hard cover case ( PINK) with mesh pockets on inside to hold my stuff . Its really sturdy. It holds 3 batterys. 4 evod heads and 2 juices with no probs.

Take care :)

i'm gonna get a hard case type of deal too for safe keeping at my house. right now i use a high end cigar cigar box the vp of my old job gave me. i lined it with cammo felt fabric. i used to keep my watches in it but now i keep my stash.

thanks for the well wishes. unfortunately it's not gonna get better. permanent nerve damage in my hand. 66% of my left ring finger is gone. huge, painful scar down my middle finger. it sucks.
loss of sensation, pain, tingling, numbness, hot, cold, and elevated sensations happen all at the same time.

appreciate it though.

she also crotcheted me something to wear of my finger stump. we call it the 'nub glove'
i am very self conscious about the way it looks so i like to cover it when i go out. it also cushions it from bumps cause my depth perception is off in those fingers too

I find my pants pockets are the worst place for me to carry my vape. I usually just rock it in my shirt pocket. If I'm out with a tshirt, I just unscrew the tank from the battery and pants pockets are fine...i find the problems happen when there's stress where the tank connects with the battery...and then it can get messy...so unscrewing the tank is worth the hassle if I don't have a shirt pocket.

I use a large Ego Hard case which carries my Ego Twists, several tanks, spare 510 cig-alikes, drip atty. Use a cushioned fanny pack to carry my spare 18650 for the SVD, beauty collars, and spare liquids. The Ego case goes into the pack as well for easy carry around for just out and about. I also when go to work carry a backpack with non-slip shoes, and other work apparrel I have to have, so this day to day carry around the fanny pack goes in the back pack

good idea panda. i'm real weird about things in my pocket. especially now. i clip my phone to the right side of my jeans by the pocket so i would keep things in the left pocket from time to time but with my left hand being messed up i cant reach into my pocket anymore.

might think about a lanyard.
is there some sort of custom clip you use to fasten it to the vaporizer?

Crazy story! If your wife is pretty good maybe you could get her to show some off and sell them on etsy or something. Would be kind of neat to see something like that available! As a guy that can't stand having a thick wallet I know what you mean about wanting something small and easy to carry around versus some of the clunkier stuff that I have seen in the short while that I've been looking.

Ego battery lanyards generally have a loose ring that fits under where the Ego threading ends, basically where the button is, come in two type a closed ring that has a U shaped thingy and an open ring, the button fits between, then with a tank or beauty collar on the Ego threading, secures the lanyard ring in. Then it is a lobster claw clip on the lanyard that clips to this. Larger APV's have a clamp style assembly that drips the housing of the APV, then the lanyard is attached to the clamp. I've also seen custom crochetted sleeves an Ego or APV slides into, almost like a pocket, attached to a crochetted lanyard.

never thought of etsy for this stuff. she is on that site a lot.

it was wild when it went down.

the pain was crazy.
i had a big project happening at the time and was working like 75-80 hours a week. this happened at 10am almost exactly but i was already so fried.
i worked the day before from 6am till 4pm, came home for a bit and was back at it at midnight.

there was a guy standing next to me when it happened and i hit the emergency stop and said 'hey man, i think i just cut my finger off'. i was pretty sure but i was scared to look. not afraid of blood but i was afraid of the damage.
he looked down and confirmed that is what had happened.
then i looked at it and was not prepared.

i threw a dirty rag over it and put the pressure on and we left. he was carrying my finger... poor guy

he drove me to the hospital and my finger was on his dashboard.

i called my wife from the car and told her what happened but she didnt believe me cause i was calm. was actually in a panic but i didnt want to freak out.

i said 'hey honey, i dont want to scare you so dont freak out when i say this. i'm on the way to the hospital cause i just cut my finger off. she got mad and thought i was joking.... i said not joking baby. im looking at it on the dashboard right now.'

it has really messed me up. not just physically but mentally. the pain sucks cause its all the time and i cant sleep well and sometimes the meds dont agree with me but mentally its bad. part of the reason i wear the nub glove. i dont want people to see it and i dont want to see it.
i hate the fact that when i look down that is what i see. i hate the fact my wife has to see it. i hate my daughter has to see it.
even though i have never agreed with her, she thinks i'm a handsome looking guy but now i feel like i am disfigured and i dont think thats fair for her.... she deserves at least 10 fingers.

anyway, boo ho right.

the vaporizer rocks.... definately better than the pre filled cartridge deals

Hi Scuffer and welcome to the forum, I have an ego case as mentioned before, but most of the time I put my ego twist and viva nova in a round toothbrush holder and stick it in my purse and keep backups in the car (as long as it's not too hot outside). I'm so sorry about your fingers, but I do want to tell you that my father was a Veteran and lost his finger and as his daughter I never thought he was disfigured and I know my Mom sure didn't. They way I look at it you had that accident working hard for your family and I'm pretty sure that they are just happy to have you in their life and are proud of you.

Hello Scuffer and welcome to ECF.

I have eGo lanyards that I use and the eGo cases. You can find the cases in a variety of sizes and prices if you look around. My largest eGo case fit my iTaste MVP and an eGo battery in it. I even found a pouch with a lanyard for the MVP at one site. Bet your wife could make something just as good, if not better! For eLiquids, they do sell what's called a bottle buddy on a few sites. They hold three 5-ml bottles for on the go. I think they even have a keychain on them.

For all our vape supplies, my hubby and I have a medium sized plastic drawer set, sitting on top one of our short bookcases. We keep our various clearomizers, parts, and eLiquids in it.

Good luck to you and your wife! I think Etsy would be a great thing for your wife, too!

You didn't say what you had. The lanyard's for the ego's have a clip and work well. I don't like clips for anything heavier, so I have a Serenity Gear flexi-sleeve, which has both a lanyard and a thing to clip to a belt loop.
SerenityGear Leather - Home

Some have used, cheaper flashlight holders instead.

Actually the entire reason I have came here is to get ideas and from the list of complaints about bulky e-cigs, broken tanks and strange looks. I have decided that my first project is going to be an Altoids box with a retracting tank. I think the retracting tank is an important feature as it will allow the Altoids box to protect your tank and batteries, make it shorter and allow you to pack twice as much battery life as 2 3.7 volt batteries will fit side by side next to an ego style tank. all this in a stylish embossed altoids box that is about the size of a pack of analogs.

Welcome! My hat is off to you and your wife going cold turkey like that. Took a lot of will power.

I use this same case only black. Always take it with me. I vape too much to keep PV in a case though. When I am out and about, I use the ego 650 twist and a gripper made by smoktech. They are small enough to fit in my pocket.

Sorry about your finger... :-(
