Hello, new to the forum and new to vaping. I currently have an innokin cool fire 4 plus which I bought about 3 month ago when I quit smoking. At first it was brilliant, nice vape with plenty of flavour, however I'm now having issues. A few days ago my iSub apex tank started leaking which to be honest isn't really an issue as I didn't like it one bit due to the tank gaurd and the top fill which is hard to fill with a pippet. Anyway I bought an iSub g to replace it. It works fine no issues just like my last one however when I hold the vapour in my mouth it tastes slightly burnt. This is with a new coil which has been primed I have also started using better liquids which tasted great in the shop alas not so good in my device. I've even tried my old tank just too see if there's any difference, again with a new coil, and that is exactly the same. Tried both old and new liquid in both tanks and both are the same. Again the liquids tasted amazing in the shop on their devices. I very rarely run over 18watts so it's not as if I'm going to town on it. Any ideas? Just to clarify there's not as much flavour to the liquids and its fine if I inhale then exhale but if i don't inhale straight to my lungs I can taste the burn.

Just a couple of thoughts...

E-liquid will often taste a little different in different types of juice attachments. Some taste better in a clearomizer, some better in a rebuildable tank atomizer, some better in a rebuildable drip atomizer.

How much nicotine in the samples at the vape shop, and how much nic in your e-liquid? Less nicotine will have more flavor, because depending upon the quality of the nicotine it can influence the flavor.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Might like to turn your voltage/wattage down, take a few hits, bump it up, couple more hits. Repeat until you find your "sweet spot". If the vape taste bad, back it down. Different flavors/atomizers will have different sweet spots so you may have to experiment with the power settings.
After I get my Atty (coil and chamber heat up) going for awhile, I will often times turn the mod down a watt or so to see if I can taste more flavor. I'm often surprised at how much better the vape is by lowering the vape temp/wattage.
Could look at:

An RDA is said to deliver great flavor. Might want to see if a new atty improves problem.

First - awesum you have quit smoking and started vaping. Finding the perfect match between hardware and juice may take some effort but once you get there it's awesum.

You have gotten some good advice above, I would also add for you to consider
Once a coil is burnt especially pre made ones it's burnt. What I like to do is start way low with either temperature if using a temperature control build or wats if using wattage and work my way up.

That way I am less likely to burn anything. what I go for is using the least amount of heat to get to the flavor I want. If you are getting major crackling sound when you are using your device you may have the wattage too high or not getting juice to the coils fast enough.

When I was using premade coils (mainly smok tanks) I would pre-saturate the coils, then fill the tank, then walk away for a few minutes and try to distract myself. I know new coil, new juice, cant wait, hence the walk away :) really let the cotton in the tank get saturated. In an rta (Rebuildable Tank Atomizer) if you burn the cotton, no big deal, you can replace it. In your case if you burn it you have to replace the coil.

Then I would start at a low wattage, if I was normally vaping at 15 watts maybe start at 8 or 10. I know nothing may happen, but you are slowly warming the coils, getting the juice to flow take a hit or two, bump it up a couple of watts, take a hit or two, when you start to get vapor, how does it taste, how much are you producing, not enough bump it up a couple of watts, better? keep going till you find good flavor, if it starts to crackle a lot you my have gone too far back off. Don't worry about what others vape settings are, it's all about you.

Yes this seems like a hassle, what you are doing is learning your equipment, the juice, and your own preferences. It's all learning your equipment and your preferences.

Also, some thicker juices don't work well in tanks, at the vape store did you try the juice in a tank like yours or an rda (rebuildable drip atomizers). An rda can vape any thickness of liquid. Also the flavor will be different from an rda to a tank.

Hope this helps, and again, congratulations on getting away from smoking and into vaping.

Guys thanks for all your help I really appreciate it, I've tried every single wattage on it and lower watts does produce more flavour. As for it being hot and me misinterpreting that for burning, it's hard to explain. If I just direct to lung and exhale it tastes fine but still not as much flavour as the test ones, if I inhale just into my mouth and hold it there the flavour is there but it has a burnt tinge to it.

Well I gave up and bought a top box mini however these coils are worrying me. Woman in the shop has set it up with what I think is a tc coil which I've been using on wattage mode. Have 2 other coils one has ss written on it and has a red band other is a Clapton coil and has a black band, am I right in thinking these are wattage not tc?
The only time you have to worry about TC mode is when your cool is made of nickel material i.e.: ni200 and titanium i.e.:Ti

With stainless steel you can Vape in either modes.

With kanthal (Clapton prebuilt coils are usually kanthal) you have to Vape in power mode.
