So glad I found this forum! I'm a 30yr nic addict that needs to quit smoking for health reasons and been going broke buying ecigs from local stores...and I still smoke cigs between. I did a lot of googling to find out about buying them online but went on information overload. This place has helped UNconfuse me so much I have to say Thank You! :)

Of course, I'm still confused lol, but y'all are making it much easier. If anyone has any advice on what to start with and who/where to get supplies, etc, I'd really appreciate it. My main concern is cost but I don't want to buy something less expensive that needs to be replaced down the line. My main objective is to quit smoking cigarettes, period, so I'm not sure I'll continue "vaping" or not. So far, I'm doing really well on ecigs w/a few real cigs between. I just can't afford to keep buying the disposables. I don't care what the setup looks like, it doesn't need to look like a cig. The other question I have is about taste. I hate the taste of the "blu" ecigs. The only other ecig in town (I live in a remote area) is called "Square" and I really like the taste of it. Unfortunately, it doesn't last very long and costs more than a pack of cigs!

Again, thank you for the forum and for all the great information on this site and from all the forum posters!

I agree with the Kgo. Buy a starter kit and it will have two batteries, so you won't get caught without something to vape with. The starter kits do not come with cartomizers (don't ask me why) so I'd suggest you pick up a couple of those around the 2.5 ohm range. The juice? Well, we all have different tastes, so all I'll suggest is that you get several in the smallest bottles the vendor has, until you find what flavors you like. You didn't say what nico content you are using, but I'd say you'd better go on the high end to start with...just until your brain gets used to reaching for an ecig instead of an analog. After alittle time you can start cutting down on the nico mgs. Welcome to ECF and Happy Vaping!

I've never bought from darkcityvapor.com but I totally agree with wseyller. I highly recommend the Kgo for newbies and have to my friends also. I usually get them from hoosierecigsupply.com, but any site is fine. I check out darkcityvapor and I would recommend you get a kit that has 2 batteries in it and not just one, and maybe some 2.0 ohm single coil cartomizers to start at this link Boge LR 510 Cartomizer - 5 Pack at their site, and a couple drip tips. To me the hardest part was finding juices I loved so that sometimes takes a little time and tasting. Best of luck to you and congratulations on quitting smoking! :)

The kit from darkcityvapor does come with cartomizers. The ones included are not very good though so I would toss them. I also suggest Boge LR 510 cartomizers. It is not required to put a drip tip on the cartomizer but it is a good idea. It makes refilling the cartos easier. I have tried almost half of the liquids from darkcityvapor and it is good stuff. I recommend "Mountain 55" and "White chocolate cappuccino". I also have tried the blu that my friend had once and I didn't like it either. What I use now from darkcityvapor is a on a different planet.

The big difference is that the liquid will not be already in the cartomizer when you buy it. The liquid comes in dropper bottles and you fill yourself. There are three ways I know of to fill the cartomizers. Dripping directly into the carto from the bottle, using a syringe, or the condom methods. There is an endless number of youtube videos that show all these methods.

Sweet Vapes also has a kgo starter kit. I have the kgo and it got me off of 50 years of smoking. Got mine from Hoosier simply because I'm female and like pretty colors. These are all good vendors to buy from.

You're shortly going to have a lot of members recomending ego, another good option. I prefer my kgo, but have an ego pass through on the way:D

The harshness you are referring to might be the throat hit which is caused from the nicotine in conjunction how hot the liquid burns. Also you may need to read up on the differences in VG (Vegetable glycerine) and PG (Propylene glycol) in the liquid because you have specify to the vendor what ratio mixture you want in your liquids. Adding more VG will help mute the throat hit from the nicotine.

I understand the throat hit, I think. I mean harsh as in it makes me cough, if that's any help. BUT, I like how it feels, that throat hit, even if it makes me cough. lol Does that make a difference in which mixture I should get?

yes it does. VG is thick and it will lessen the throat hit and it also mutes the flavor a bit. Also VG because it is thick lessens the life of the cartomizers because they get gunked up more. 80% PG / 20% VG is what I use. I like the throat hit. Some people have to vape 100% VG due to allergies.

My guess, and this is just a guess but based on 1/2 to 1 ppd of a light cigarette I would go for 14mg of nicotine liquid. Me and some of my friends were heavy smokers and started out at 24mg which was just a little bit too much. I went down to 18mg. You don't want to start too low on the nicotine because it will just frustrate you that you are not getting enough. You almost just have to do a trial and error. Get small samples and see what is best for you.

I did read some about that, still need to read more, obviously. I think that throat hit is what's doing the trick for me. Both brands had the same amt of nico but only that one that feels harsh keeps me from reaching for another analog.

The main cause of that good throat hit is the nicotine. More PG allows more of it. VG inhibits throat hit. Also more voltage + less resistance gives more wattage which gives more throat hit. Products like Blu don't output alot. The Kgo battery puts out plenty of voltage to satisfy. If you buy the Boge LR (Low Resistance) cartos which are about 2.0 to 2.2 ohms you will get more wattage then a Boge SR (Standard Resistance) 3.0 ohm carto. The LR version is more power (better throat hit) than the SR version.

From what I've been reading, 14-18mg was what I figured I'd go for as well. Thank you so much for your input, I really really appreciate all your help! :D
