Hello

A bit of background info:

My gran has alzheimers and has come to live with us; she is a smoker and we're a house full of asthmatics which means we turned to e-cigs for her use. My gran, being a bit confused because of her condition, often can't tell the difference between the real cigarette and the e-cigarette. (Resulting in much panic when it has stopped working and she's managed to find matches and attempt to light the e-cig with a match!!)

Anyway, we purchased the e-cigarette kit from amazon. I'm uncertain if it has a brand name but it's the first listing on amazon when you search for e-cigarrette and it comes in white and blue packaging. We find these not to be of the greatest quality - replacement atomisers often don't work, some cartridges don't work at all, the battery doesn't hold a charge for long and most cartridges last nowhere near as long as they are meant to according to the manufacturers instructions. My gran can get through between 2 - 5 cartridges per day.

When it doesn't work my gran gets incredibly agitated and we want to avoid this as much as possible by finding something of a better quality. I've been trying to research e-cigs but a lot of it is just people advertising their own product and I don't want to end up with another bad product. It's also very important that the e-cig looks like a real cigarette in colour and size as it's doubtful she would accept anything else.

Can anyone recommend an e-cig which can be purchased in the UK that fits our requirements please? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You guys get most of the same stuff over there as we get in the States. Try Cloud 9 Vaping The eGo is always heavily recommended and since it doesn't look at all like a ciggie, it's fatter, your gran might be less likely to try and light it. If you use the eGo tank system with the bigger battery, bigger tank cartridge, and bigger atomizer your gran can probably vape for a full day before her e-cig needs any tending. Hopefully you can get her trained to use a button. You really want to avoid the automatic batteries, they dont' hold up well, less reliable.

Hello & welcome lgm :)

It sounds to me like the e-cig you got from Amazon is most probably a Health-E super-mini. Getting through about 2-5 cartridges a day sounds about right - some vendors badly over exaggerate how many real cigs they are the equivalent of :( The cartridges can be refilled with e-liquid that works out much cheaper than buying replacement carts. OK, I should imagine your gran wouldn't be able to refill them herself but maybe you could for her?

The big problem is that if you have to stick to buying an e-cig the same size, you just aren't going to get much better battery life. It's really a case of the larger the e-cig the longer the battery lasts between charges.

Hi there, thanks for the replies. The charge isn't so much of a problem if we have extra batteries on charge to replace it with afterwards. It's more the quality of atomizers/cartridges. We just bought a pack of 10 atomizers which arrived yesterday morning and out of the whole pack, only 1 worked for one day then it stopped working too. So it's more about better quality/more reliable atomizers and cartridges that I would like to find.

I'll have to look into the e-liquid, we do all of the charging/putting the e-cig together anyway so it wouldn't be a problem for us to do it. Can you just drip a couple of drops into a used cartridge or do you buy cartridges specifically for using e-liquid? If anyone has a good how to guide on this I would appreciate if you could post a link.

lgm, that sounds so bad that only 1 out of the 10 atomisers you bought worked :( Unfortunately atomisers are the weakest link with e-cigs but they shouldn't be that weak!

Yes, you can refill the cartridges you already have by dripping several drops into the stuffing.

If you really do want to stick with a super- mini, I'll find you some links to UK sellers.

OK, this really is a very good price for a super-mini from a good UK seller - their e-liquids are really good as well.

2 x Super Mini E-Cigs - Detailed item view - FreedomVape (UK)

From the look of the atomiser in the above link, I think it's a DSE103 & I can't really find anywhere selling replacement atomisers for any of the super-minis at a bargain price. In fact the majority of the Uk sellers I know of, don't tend to stock super-mini's any more.

Libery-flights sell the RN4081 atomisers that would fit the DSE103 battery.
