Hi Everybody,
I've absolutely loved this forum! I've done all my research here and my favorite that I keep going back to is the Newbies for broke people. I ended up choosing the Joye 510. Actually my husband ordered it first and he has the model and we share it at night and I've been smoking regular cigarettes while at work. My 510 is coming tomorrow. Can't wait!!
My husband and I have smoked since we were sixteen and since weve been together we've tried every form of quitting. The patches worked best for me but I never downgraded and stayed at the highest level of nicotine for 6 months. And then started again. I feel like the eCigarette is a complete replacement and that we'll have no need of going back. My husband already doesn't like the taste of real cigarettes anymore.
I do have some worries though. It seems alot of people have problems with atomizers and have to order them constantly. Is it really like that? Will I be ordering them as much as I order juice? I hope someone can shed some light on the subject.

Thanks in advance for thoughts.

If you take good care of your atties, I don't see it being a problem.

Clean them every couple of days, or at the very least, let them dry out on a paper towel every night when you go to bed.

I've been using the same two atties for two weeks now, without any notice of performance decrease. I do take good care of my atties, however. Even if they did break down after a week of use (which I don't see from my experience so far, happening), they are cheap enough to replace weekly and still be cheaper than smoking analogs :p

Just my thoughts, if you take good care of your atties, they'll last you. I've heard as far as about 6 months for some.

Welcome to ECF! Good choice for a starter kit too. It's what got me off cigarettes. Always good to have extra atomizers on hand and like Nathanial says - much cheaper than smokes. I've had some atomizers that lasted over a year and some that went within a month (some LR attys will go quicker than that). I clean them when performance drops. I use a vodka soak for about 15 minutes - blowout and back to vaping.

Atomizers do go out and you can get a bad one but, most of the time they last a while. It's a good idea to keep a few around though. I wouldn't go with a new brand without something else around, just in case. Cartomizers are the same way though they are not really designed to last.

Yes, I agree with that, and forgot to mention. I would keep a stock of three around, just in case. I would say, that if you have any stock lower than three at hand, I would order a couple of more.

It's just a good idea to keep a healthly stock of Atties around, just in case. Who knows, those three could last you for months! :)

Thanks guys! I'm definately excited to not have to go to the gas station everyday and spend +$5.00 a day! I will make sure to keep plenty of attys on hand. Also my husbands came with two attys to put cartriges in and another one that you can just add juice to. On myfreedomsmokes.com where we purchased it and other sites don't mention anything about that peice as included. We almost weren't sure we should put juice in the cartriges because we had that peice. Why do we have it and is it better??

I think you're talking about a cartomizer. That's kind of a combination cartridge and atomizer. Just to get the lingo right, cartridges which you use with an atomizer are called carts. Cartomizers which are a one piece cart and atomizer are called cartos. Cartos are supposed to be disposable but, almost everyone on here refills them. Typically they don't last as long as an atomizer, at least not a good atomizer but, in some ways they are less hassle and they are usually cheaper.

You might find that you like the cartomizers. I think they're pretty convenient when you're out. Load up a few of them, change them out when they start to get a little dry and reload them later. If they stop vaping, toss them. If they get grungey tasting you can toss them or sometimes boiling them will bring them back. The Boge brand 510 cartomizers are very popular on here and that's what I use. There are tons of instructional you tube videos on caring for them.

On a standard 510 you can only use standard resistance atomizers and I think they should last longer than the hot LR ones people can use on the fat-battery models. Just always always have a at least one spare atomizer, preferably 2. I usually have 3 attys. I use one while cleaning the other and the 3rd is a total spare. Buy good quality attys and not some mystery brand just because it's cheaper. SLB ones look a bit messy to me - Joye or Boge should be good.

Buy some precut blue foam cart stuffing for 510 at strictlyejuice.com - when the white cart stuffing gets nasty, replace with blue foam.

Always pull off and push on carts, do not twist
They may work best if you line up the juice cup and the bridge /\ of the atty

And when you are ready, try some Boge standard resistance 510 cartomizers. I love them on 510. I can get 1-2 weeks use out of a Boge carto and then I save them to try cleaning.

I'm 5 wks into this and all my equipment works like new. I got the Riva 510 kit similar to yours. But I thought it'd be good to have spares for everything, so I just ordered another whole starter kit.

These suppliers deliver very quickly, even cross-country. I'm not planning on ordering another atty or battery until I'm down to my last one- it gotta last at least 3 days til another delivery.

    Best wishes-Bob

The suppliers are great. The manufacturers aren't always. I would have one atty I'm using and two spares on hand at all times, if I were you.
