Hi there...I just found this site and decided to join the forums.

I am new to vaping - I have only been doing it a little over a month now, and still can't quite part with the analogs altogether, although I must say that the vaping has greatly curtailed my smoking. Some days I only have about 4 cigs and some days, I'm not so successful. But, I am trying. I have been smoking for about 30 years, and enough is enough already.

Because I am on a limited budget these days (one of the reasons I am looking into vaping-it HAS to be cheaper than $7 per pack and a pack-a-day habit!), I ordered a low-end starter kit online. It came with 2 650 mah batteries with voltage output of 3.3, and 2 CE5 clearomizers (2.0 ml). It is too soon to upgrade, but a friend of mine tells me that I should go to a variable 1300 mah battery for the next step. What is the opinion on that?

I am already noticing a decrease in vapor and flavor transfer with the low-end batteries (or maybe the decrease in flavor is part of that "vape tongue" I have been reading about), but I don't want to drop a bunch more money when I've had my current set-up for so short a time. Kind of defeats the purpose of saving!

Thanks to looking at some of the e-juice options here on these forums, I purchased 4 different e-juices from Killer Juice (and one of them was only .99 for a 15ml size!) this morning. Looking forward to trying those.

Everyone seems very friendly and knowledgeable on here; this is a whole new culture and the information is overwhelming with all the devices out there! I don't understand much of it yet, but I'm hoping you nice people will help me to navigate through it.

Hi Bette, and welcome to the forum. Anything you need to know about e cigs you will find here, and if you can't find it, someone will help you.

As far as a decrease in vapor and flavor, could simply mean you need to clean your clearos and coil. I do this by running under hot water for a bit, then letting them dry overnight. It could also mean "vapor tongue", but that's a simple fix, too. Switch flavors for a very short time, then go back to your main vape. Your batteries should be fine for quite a while until you can afford to move up to something more powerful and longer lasting.

Hope this helps. And Happy Vaping!!!!

Welcome to the forums Bette, like above try cleaning your tank out with hot water. I usually take a coffee cup, fill 3/4 with water, microwave for 1 min, take to mouth piece off empty the eliquid back into the bottle, then soak tank till water is cool, then air dry. If your still using your first ce5 clean the old one and use the new one. Clean the tank every other week. Switch between tanks every week to keep things clean bad working.

We all started with those batteries, I use a small single volt battery every day with my evod.

    Welcome aboard.
Battery voltage being low will cause low vapor production. When this occurs try your other battery. If vapor production is still low then it is time to clean the tank.
You can think of your vape being like a flashlight. When the battery is low the light is less bright. The same is true for the heating coil inside your tank. It produces less heat and therefore less vapor.
Keep your batteries charged and you wicks wet and you're good to go.

Another question...are the coils replaceable on the CE5's or are they pretty much disposable once they have done their time?

That depends upon the brand and the model of CE5's that you have. Some clearomizers are disposable once the coils go bad. Others are designed to accept replacement coils ($3) when the original one goes bad.

I know that the Aspire CE5 tanks can accept replacement coils. So can Kanger Evod, Kanger T3S and Kanger T3D, and the iClear 16.

Have you tried smokibg a tobacco flavor with 18 or 24 mg of nicotine? I did that to get my nic fix and make the connection metally of vaping to smoking with the flavor. Ive only been smoking for 8 years, but I did everything from cigarettes to pipes to cigars, even that you arent auppose to inhale the last 2 lol.

The fixed 3.3 volt limit is your problem...3.3 volts on a 2 Ohm coil only hits the coil with 5.445 watts...there are 120 watts box mods out just to let you know where you stand in the big picture of vape gear.
Do you need 120watts? HECK NO!!! Any VV/VW (Variable Voltage or Variable Wattage) battery that you could turn up to around 3.8 to 4 volts would put you closer to 8watts sent to a 2.0 Ohm coil, which in turn will boost your vape to a whole different experience. I vape around 1.2 Ohms builds at 15wats which give me a power output of 4.24 Volts. (via OHM's Law calculator on my iPhone) That 1 volt will make ALL the difference in the world....Flavor pops, vape is warmer ect...Don't waste $$ climbing the "vape ladder" of gear, as it can be VERY expensive. You will always get what you pay for and vaping is really no different. You're much better off IMO to spend decent money up front once you know you are going to stick with it.
    Hope this helps:thumb:

and good for you!!! keep it up!! you can do it! (same here)

you'll want to start a piggy bank for a rebuildable if you can, they're pretty cheap from Fasttech (I have a Nemesis and Russian) and probably adding a Provari (stashing away for one).

for everyday out and about, my guy rigged up some eGo T's 1300mah and I just got a 2200 mah one I'm trying out today (they're $10 bucks on ebay) and a Kanger Protank 2, ($12)he modifies with an air control valve ($3)and drills out everywhere it's on here somewhere (Ed Kindred) they are great! I don't want to be fiddling with something and have it last while I'm gone all day so I take two and I'm good if the one fails.

these folks have great advice on what to get too...it's finding what's best for you, and works so we don't smoke!

Correction.....Not to be a know-it-all but, The ONLY batteries that act like "flashlights" in performance are Mechanical Mods with drop in batteries....MOST stick batteries are regulated to their voltage so the first hit off a charged battery should be as good as the last hit before its completely dead and shuts itself off. So with this said, constantly charging almost full or half charged batteries just teaches your batteries bad habits and will make them stop taking a charge all together ALOT quicker. As I said in my earlier post, the fixed 3.3 volts is the culprit of your issues.
Hope this helps clarify the problem as it pertains to your particular setup:toast:

I have tried the tobacco flavor in 18mg, Fatal Snake, and to my surprise I didn't care for it much! I tried the RAD brand. I am finding that I like flavors better - like vanilla or berry. Which I didn't think I would. For analogs I smoke regulars so menthol doesn't appeal much either. To be truthful I have only tried a total of 4 e-liquids so I am hoping with some experimenting I will find the one or three that are right for me. With some luck, the Killer Juice ones I have coming will fit that bill!
