Hi everyone! I've been vaping since Jan of this year and trying to get my husband vaping now for about a week and he's having some issues with coughing/taking his breath away when he inhales. I've tried to do different things like changing his pg/vg mix to 80vg/20pg, thinking he has a sensitivity to pg, changing his tank from an iclear 30s to a bdc aspire, trying a BLU cigalike 100% vg, changing his nic levels from 10mg to 0mg...nothing seems to work. Right now he's using an ego battery with an aspire bdc tank..strawberry juice at about 5mg nic and 90vg/10pg. He says its better, but the 1st inhale seems to make him cough, then the next inhale is a little better, etc. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Hi and Welcome to ECF :)

Many folks have a little trouble in the beginning - after ruling out PG (as you have) and trying different flavor brands (as you also have) - its very commonly inhalation technique. You cant vape exactly how you smoked (depending on how you smoked) its a bit easier use a 2 stage inhale instead of a drag directly to the lungs, similar to a cigar puff, pull it into mouth and then inhale to lungs after you let it sit in your mouth for a second. It may help to direct him to do a slow steady pull as well instead of what my fiance was doing which was hard sharp inhale straight to lungs - the same way he smoked.

Also deeply inhaling is not useful to nicotine absorption. The vape droplets are too large for absorption to happen much in the lungs; instead, you absorb nearly all the nicotine via the mouth and nasal passages. So this method of inhaling will not reduce or hinder nic for him.
