I've lurked a lot of places the past couple days. I've reached the point of analysis paralysis. I've come here with several conclusions.

  1. e-cigs don't taste like cigs (analogs?)
  2. e-cigs are extremely high maintenance
  3. the 510 and eGo by Joye are most popular?
I've smoked for 20 years. I've always smoked menthol cigarettes (now cigarillos). I'm looking to buy either a 510 or eGo. I hope I am on a good (quality, reputable) track. Am I?

If I am (I hope I am) this page is just way too much for me Forum Suppliers List. Who is trusted and reputable and sells official Joye products at very good and competitive prices? Anybody has a better starting kit than another?

OK, I got the e-cig (just saying). Say I smoke 25-30 cigs a day (probably 20-25 drags a cig). Forget about nicotine intake for a moment. If you saw someone do this with an e-cig; at the end of the day, how many ml did that person just consume? Can you realistically over-estimate this figure by just a little? What is it?

I would like to really thank you if you made it this far. I really appreciate any help I can get on this! I really need to quit this garbage. Thanks again!

I got an KR808D-1 from CigEasy because it seems to be the simplest to use. It consists of only two parts the bat and the cartomizer and it provides good vapor and flavor. Yes there is maintenance required with all e-cigs but I don't mind because it's a small price to pay for quiting regular cigs. I'm really happy with my Kr8 and the service I received from CigEasy.

Hi and welcome to ECF. If you're smoking a pack-a-day or more you probably need a bigger battery than the 510. The eGo or Riva is the next logical step and it looks like you've done some research on it. They're both good units and either will serve you well. E-cigs seem to be high maintenance but that's true only while you're learning. Once you've got your system down it's really no more hassle than smoking, at least in my opinion. As far as juice consumption goes, I vape around 3 ml/day. A 10 ml bottle costs around $5 or so and I'll get about 3 days out of it. Some people vape more, some less.

Hi, This is my first post but have been lingering in ECF for quite some time. I'd say go with a Joye Ego as your first. you can pick one up right now for 39.00 at liberty-flights.com. that comes with two full ego's, and if it's not strong enoug at first pickup some low restistance atomizers which let through more current which equals more vapor. works great. i'm currently using the eastmall indulgence and altsmoke omega and love them both.

I just got my Joye 510 a few days ago and love it. Got it from Cignot, manual batteries, no box with PCC. From my own (somewhat limited) personal experience thusfar I would HIGHLY recommend both the 510 and Cignot.com (got my kit in 2 days) Price is great, you get everything WITH the PCC.. which you definitely need to keep your batteries charged up on the go, plus 2 samples of liquid for 65 no shipping cost. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

+1 on the 808 from CigEasy. With the amount you smoke though, you'd probably be better off with the Elegant from CigEasy or the PigCig from LeCig (bigger batter - lasts longer) if you go with the 808 model. Models are just a personal preference though, just like liquid flavor.
I'd say about 3mL sounds about right for me too, but I don't really keep track because I rotate flavors throughout the day (I think most people do).
As far as maintenance goes, once you get into vaping it isn't really an inconvenience. You develop a routine and it becomes part of your life, like stopping at the store for smokes or emptying your ashtray.
Good luck with quitting the cigs!

Understand about the "analysis paralysis" . Your conclusions are bascially on track. And you, are on a good quality, reputable track. What you don't say is what your own priorities in an e-cig are. Since you yourself have narrowed it down to a 510 or an ego at this point, of the two I'll recommend the Ego. The battery is larger then the 510 batt which more resembles a cigarette, but battery life is longer between charges on the Ego and have an extreme amount larger than the 510 and while certainly not always, since the Ego has already caught your attention it is likely that if you do enjoy vaping you would be upgrading there in the near future anyways so why not just start there. I started with the Joye 510 and later added the Ego. I enjoy and still use both sometimes (along with my mod and PT) and never regretted starting on the 510 but know now that I really would have been perfectly fine starting with the Ego.

There are a LOT of variables so I'm afriad I can't really tell you how many ML your scenario would consume, but I can tell you that 3ml per day is pretty common and and an ok number for your scenario to start. Your first juices need to be smaller (sample sizes if the vendor has them) of several different flavors to see what you really like. Same flavor can taste very different from different vendors sometimes. Some you'll find ok, others you may love, some you may find aren't so good and you might just hate a few. Hard to beleive now, but your taste buds will be doing a bunch of changes in the coming weeks for several months so what you feel abt some of the flavors in the beginning are likely going to change.

To the best of my knowledge all the vendors in the supplier forum are good people and ok to order from. Liberty Flights has a good price on the Joye Ego kit at 39.99 (several different colors available). The also have a Joye 510 Kit for 35.99 which isn't bad either. Shipping is a flat 2.99 for what ever you order. I've been extremely happy with their customer service when I've ordered from them several times.

Good LUCK!!!!

I believe that the Riva 510 kit from Liberty Flights (about $40) would make you a great starter kit. Larger battery and you get 2 batteries with the kit. I would not contemplate a whole lot over what model you get, both the Riva and the Ego are the number one rated suggestion for noobs. But I will also add, there are alot of other good ones as well, but you may want to get started and learn on the Riva and then decide if you want to expand upwards with a second unit.
Many, many videos on YouTube on just about every model out there.

The first few months of vaping probably will be a break even with your cig (analogs) cost, as you will HAVE to buy different flavors of juice to find out what suits YOU !! No one can tell you what juice you will really like..no one. I suggest buying small bottles (5ml) and buy from several vendors. Try them and see what you would like to settle in with. But also be prepared that you will probably try many more as well. (thats part of the addiction to vaping) It does get kinda addicting, but a much better and healthier one.

I've been at this for about 60 days. I'm now over the multiple juice orders, I have a good supply or cartomizers, 2 good PV units
and I will now probably settle down to about $10 or so per week cost factor. Still much less than my prior $75.00 or more per week cost of analogs.
Oh wait, I lied....I am still trying to get my 3rd unit !!! A Reo Mini bottom juicer.....see there, it is addicting!

Many people here, end up with more than one PV unit and that is something that you will personally decide on. Battery power
will be VERY important to you thru out this journey. I started with a larger battery mod unit and I am very, very glad that I did.
I have a ProVape, and you might want to check that out as well.

Glad to have you and let us know how it goes.

I disagree on the battery thing. If you need a batteries with a much longer lasting charge and a somewhat stronger hit then you need and Ego (510 based) or Riva (510 or 901 based?) or Elegant Easy (KR808D-1 based). If you have no problem with shorter life batteries and can easily charge batteries wherever you are most of the time, then you could use a mini (510, carto model KR808D-1, DSE901 for a soft hit, etc). Super-minis (exact size of a king cigarette) are rarely recommended unless you have to vape hands free for some reason or were an ultralights smoker - they usually have a lighter hit, tiny carts, super-short battery life.

One thing you don't want to do is buy at a mall or from a fancy rebrander without knowing exactly what you are buying, whether it's a good model, whether refilling is crippled, whether you are paying too much.

Did you watch/read the beginners stuff to get a better idea of what you want? In the sticky threads at the top of new members - watch the Newbie videos and follow the thread with Library in its title to find a nice multipart illustrated guide (avoid the Blu in the guide - the author has it in there for sentimental reasons but many end up dissatisfied with it). And i don't think the guide covers Ego, Riva, etc but they are the fat batter long-charge version of 510 (or in the case of Riva I think those can also be 901 based).

Believe me, I was/am in your boat but I think I read here for months!

I finally decided to just place the order and see what happens. I'm still confused, but less so than this morning.:p I'm liking it, except for a mild headache and I've had no cigs!!

I figured it would cost me around $100 to get started. If you live where I do that's not a lot more than a carton of cigarettes. Although I have been rolling my own lately. Mlinky helped me place my order. (Thanks!)

From Liberty Flights (with 20% discount and only $2.99 shipping)

Joye eGo starter kit Special ECF Offer $39.99 two complete manual eGos
Boge Cartomizers (2-5 packs) $15.98
Drip Tips just in case $3.18
eGo pass-through (optional) 20.97

About $83.00

NHaler - I got NuPort juice which I think taste pretty good. Very happy with it. I got the strongest stuff.

With the pass-through I have 3 batteries, and if I ever learn how, I can either use the cartomizers or drip. But I don't know if it's necessary. I haven't used mine, but it's really my first full day.

The battery lasted until just a few moments ago from this morning. I can't tell you about how long the carto lasted because I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing. I don't know how much nicotine I'm getting compared to analog cigarettes but I'm not really craving cigarettes. So that's good. This is day 1.

I don't think you can go wrong with any company. I emailed about 3-4 companies and got immediate emails from all of them. All seemed to be extremely helpful. But that's based on my extremely limited experience. I'd listen to the advice of the other members. I just wanted to let you know what I ordered.

Good luck!

I don't mean to bypass some of the wisdom on here on other brands of e-cigs but if I do any more research on different models my head is going to explode! So far eGo seems to be taking lead and I pretty much expected this. Another thing that so far seems common is about 3ml a day for some of you guys so I'll add on 2 (5ml a day for me).

If you're curious why I want to get an average of X ml a day is because, I have no distributor near me to buy this stuff from. I expect to have to order week(s) in advance (I could be wrong) and I would like ample time between orders /w a lower cost towards S+H (maybe twice a month).

I think I might just go for the eGo on liberty-flights and order 2 different VG 30ml flavors as a trial. I'll hang back as I will most likely make my final decision on Sunday (hopefully getting the order to ship out by Monday and be here within the week). I would just like to get more opinions and any first-thing-tips are appreciated!

Thank all you guys for taking time out to help. It is sincerely appreciated!

The only thing I would add/change about what you just said is the juice. Instead of two 30ml flavors, I'd get 12 5ml samples (same net amount) because if you don't like one or both of them, ugh. You'll end up vaping something you hate for a long time. Also, you said you're a long way from any suppliers. Well, most of us are. I've found, however, that I can get juice here in about 3 days from anywhere in the U.S. These vendors seem to understand "nic fit" and react accordingly. Ha.

I've been vaping for over 6 months now (it's still wonderful!) and I've used my eGo (and a Riva set as well) most of that time. You've made a good choice with the eGo. The Riva (for sale at the same place: Liberty-Flights) is $10.00 cheaper than the eGo and almost identical. Actually, the Riva batteries are even a little longer-lasting than the eGo batts. Anyway, just a thought. Make sure that when you go to order, you click on the 20% off box in the top left-hand corner of their home page. Good luck.

@JCNewbie I agree. I won't do that. I'm just not 100% about being up to date with supplies. I'm not sure if I am gonna have to go a couple days without juice. I am sure I'll figure it out but you're right. I like that opinion.

What are some good quality juice sites? I've seen some and can't help but feel like some juice is homemade. I don't want to smoke an accidental batch of cyanide because somebodies mom tried to kill him and instead he shipped it out. I'm probably just being over-paranoid about inhaling stuff *because* of a good deal...

Very few of us have juice vendors within driving distance. I'm one of the lucky ones because VaporBomb.com is a mere 20 minute drive for me. But even then I keep well stocked. I have enough juice to last a long, long time so I don't ever have to worry about running out. If you're considering stocking up on juice, you might want to do so with spare parts too. Keep at least a couple of extra atty's or carto's on hand, just in case. Nubie's especially have a tendency to kill'em quickly until they get over the learning curve. I wouldn't recommend you buy 2 x 30ml bottles at this point. I'd suggest trying more flavors and at least a couple of different strengths. Until you start vaping you won't know what flavors you like, or what strength you need. Liberty Flights sells 5 ml sample sizes which would probably be the way to go at this point. It'll cost a bit more in the short term, but it'll give you a better chance of finding something you can live with. Personally, I'd say that 80% of the juices I've tried I wouldn't buy again.

The eGo is a good unit and it'll serve you well. Likewise with the Riva. Either way you won't go wrong.

vbgunz, there are lots of really, really good juice vendors. My favorite is VaporBomb.com. I also like FreedomSmokesUSA and Tasty Vapor. The thing is....all the "good" stuff actually is homemade. You don't know it yet, but that's what you want. LOL. Really. They hand mix it when they get your order. That way it is very, very fresh and made just the way you ordered it. There's a shelf life for juice of about 2 years, and when you get something that's pre-mixed, you never know how long it's been sitting on a shelf. Ha. If a vendor is listed here on this forum, it's considered a reliable vendor. I trust them all.

I don't know what you meant about going a couple of days without juice....but you can't. When you order your kits, order at least a bottle of juice to start you out from there. THEN order some juice from another vendor. You don't want brand new kits sitting there with no juice. I can't imagine a more torturous situation! Ha.

One more thing (are you sorry you asked for opinions yet?).....don't just assume that you want "tobacco" flavors. That's a real newbie attitude that soon goes away. Even if you order mostly tobacco flavors, throw in a couple of flavors that sound like something you *might* like. At first I just assumed I'd want tobacco flavors and ordered several from VaporBomb. Well, they always (how nice of them!) throw in a free sample of something. They put in a little 5ml sample of Blueberry along with all my tobaccos. Well, that Blueberry turned out to be my favorite, and I had to save it and ration it while I was waiting for my second order because I loved it so much and did NOT like the tobacco flavors at all. You just never know.

You mentioned you used to smoke Newports. That's pretty much the only cigarette I smoked and did a ton of research on the board and NHaler's Nuport was recommended. I ordered that from Nhaler in the large bottle and I'm very happy with it. I got it in 24 mg and 12 mg, and I'm liking the 24 mg. I also got some 555 Menthol from him and don't care for it.

My Mom got a some sample cartos with her order from V4L. I tried them and really liked a couple, so I may branch out and order some non-tobacco tasting juices.

Went with Liberty Flights. Here is what I ended up getting. If I missed anything please let me know. (Extra pieces)
Thanks for all you input!

JOYE EGO 510 - SPECIAL ECF OFFER

This is a special offer, once these 50 units have gone then offer will no longer be available.
Each kit now comes with 2 full devices (2 batteries, 2 atomizers and 2 cones).
Combining the trusted Joye 510 atomizer with a much larger capacity battery, this device improves on the standard 510 kit by being able to operate longer between needing to be recharged, nearly 4 times as long as a standard 510 battery. Depending on usage, this means the device could last anywhere from 5 hours for heavy vaping to up to a few days for a light vaper. Kit comes with :
2 x manual eGo 650mAh batteries
2 x Joye 510 atomizer
2 x Atomizer Cone
5 x tobacco cartridges
1 x high speed USB charger
1 x usb mains charger
1 x user manual
1 x presenation box
Plus 2 drip tips.

Total price with site discount was $56.77.
Few extra $$'s to get what I am sure I missed.

I ordered more juice with this. 60ml to start. This was included in the above price. Was a sweet deal, not on anymore. Rivas are about the same as an Ego. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
My opinion to your questions.
1. No they will not taste like an analog.
2. Not high maintenance.
3. Right now they are pretty popular.
Also I started out with 30 and 24mg juice. This would be a total of 60mg of juice. Vape 24 most the time. Use the 30 when I am wanting a cig real bad.
Get some more atty's. 5 pack maybe. Then you do not have to stress about running out. Order some more juice to keep as a backup. I like to keep about 60ml extra on hand all the time.
