I just started using a Joye 510 from VaporKings.com. I'm so happy with it I could do back flips. No, seriously. I could do back flips! I couldn't do back flips when I smoked analogs because I'd get too winded.

I'm really happy with my starter kit. I don't think it's high maintenance really. And, nah, it's not like smoking an analog. BUT... It is JUST as satisfying and really, your brain doesn't care HOW you get that nicotine as long as you're getting it. So, it's really just an adjustment. One that took me 24 hours. Now I don't crave cigs, I crave my little Joye.

My hair smells good, my clothes smell good, and I'm not taking my asthma inhaler 25 times per day. So, I'd say I made a good choice. I think you will think so too, once you make that move. Don't worry about the maintenance or the ways it's different than an analog. It works out in the end, if you want it to.

Lastly, VaporKings.com was where I bought my starter kit and juices. I got the authentic eJoye in 2 days, and the juices are fun. Get some different flavors because there may be some you like more than others. I thought I'd love the Menthol flavors as I've smoked menthols for 20 years. But I'm actually head over heels for the cheesecake. So, try to live it up when you order juices.

Good luck!

I started with the Revolution and quit a 1 1/2 PAD habit of 30+yrs no problem. I liked them for the simplicity and size and that using the KR808 cartomizer made it a 2pc system. The battery life was about 3-4 hours max and I wanted something I could get through the whole day with.

I switched to the EGO + 510 cartomizers but by this time knew enough not to buy a whole starter kit.
I bought the Ego Mega battery because it can last 24hrs on 1 charge, and also got the ego passthrough because you can vape while it's charging then unplug it and take it with you (good for about 12 hours)
Best price I found for both of these is Mike & Carolls Internet store.
Mike & Carol's Internet Store

I now use the Boge 510 cartomizer because it holds about twice as much fluid as others I've used,
hits well, and seems pretty reliable. I used to roll my own for the last 2 years I smoked and filling 3-4 cartomizers to put in your pocket is way faster and far less work.

There are tons of different e-cigs, many of them very good choices, and everyones' opinion differs.
But if you want functionality + simplicity just to kick the habit without high maintenance (as I did)
Then a 2pc long-life battery+cartomizers are definately the way to go.

Amen, brother!
I Agree with everything you just said.
Don't cough up a lung in the mornings anymore and breathe deeper than I have in years.
Cant stand the smell of cigs on other ppl now either. Lol

I'm going to definitely follow up on the juice advice. I was aiming for menthol or even just tobacco flavor **but** I am also getting into this with as much of an open mind as possible. I asked my questions here because I wanted to gather as much advice as I could on this first purchase. So, I'll get several 5ml sample bottles and be on the lookout for blueberry and cheesecake. No joke. I'll do it :)

I'm just getting torn again between the eGo and 510. Looks like all the 510'ers came in late or something :)

1. e-cigs don't taste like cigs (analogs?)
That is correct. e-cigs do not taste like cigs

2. e-cigs are extremely high maintenance
I have not found this statement to be true. There is a learning curve, but once you learn the process, you can maintain your equipment with minimal time & effort.

3. the 510 and eGo by Joye are most popular?
These are two popular pvs. Most popular? Probably, but I've not taken a poll on that I would recommend the eGo, or the Riva 510 (which is like the eGo) The 510 is a nice little pv, but the battery life is not something I would recommend for someone used to smoking a pack a day. I think you will get frustrated with the smaller battery size of the 510 and will find yourself wishing you would have purchased the larger battery unit. That is just my opinion. :D

I've smoked for 20 years. I've always smoked menthol cigarettes (now cigarillos). I'm looking to buy either a 510 or eGo. I hope I am on a good (quality, reputable) track. Am I?
Yes, you are on a good path with these two pvs

Who is trusted and reputable and sells official Joye products at very good and competitive prices? Anybody has a better starting kit than another?
I highly recommend Liberty Flights. They are a respected supplier here in this forum. Before you check out, type ECF in the discount box and you'll get 20% off your total purchase. Their shipping is just $2.99 for your entire order.

Please remember to pick up a few extra atomizers, or cartomizers, along with some extra e-juice. Do not buy real big bottles of e-juice. What looks good on the website, may not be one that tastes good to you. Get smaller bottles or seek out a supplier that offers sample sizes. I like Freedom Smoke USA (another respected supplier here on this forum) for juice.

Say I smoke 25-30 cigs a day (probably 20-25 drags a cig). Forget about nicotine intake for a moment. If you saw someone do this with an e-cig; at the end of the day, how many ml did that person just consume? Can you realistically over-estimate this figure by just a little? What is it?
3ml a day should be a generous estimate for what you've described

I would like to really thank you if you made it this far. I really appreciate any help I can get on this! I really need to quit this garbage. Thanks again!
You are welcome. I am so glad you decided to join ECF and thrilled that you are taking a major step to deal with your cig smoking.

Welcome to the Forum and
Happy Vaping,
Paula

So far I only been vaping for a week. So I'm kinda new too. I smoke for 19 years and about 1- 1 1/2 pack per day. Now I still smoking my analogs, but only like 5-8 per day. I'm cutting down as days go by.
I owe the Joye 510. It's great, it's just slighty taller then your analogs by alittle, easy to carry around, but the battery life is really bad though. I don't constantly vape but I do use it pretty much. The batteries only last me for around 2 hours. I need to go through 4 batteries a day. The only difference in the ego is the battery life and and the battery is bigger. I recently just purchase a ego passthru with battery for longer battery life to use at home, it still hasn't arrive yet so i dunno how it looks. I'm planning to use the ego passthru at home and use the 510 battery wen i go out since they are smaller. I aslo have a 510 PCC so i can charge (1) 510 battery on the go.
So i guess you have to decide whether you want more battery life or u prefer the 510 because of it's size?

I'm not sure if they the most popular, i just saw recommendation on them, so i got them as well.
As for the supplier, I like Cignot, although they are not the cheapest, but they do have great customer service. They answer all your email very fast. I not sure about the other suppliers, so far I have order from 3 different supplier, and Cignot has been the one that answers to my questions the fastest.
As for E juice, i dunno too i'm kinda new :D

Hope you will have a wonderful vaping experience :D

Another thing that so far seems common is about 3ml a day for some of you guys so I'll add on 2 (5ml a day for me).

There is absolutely nothing wrong with overestimating your juice usage. I started today and was a 2 - 2.5 PAD smoker; the starter 5ml bottle after dripping a good chunk of the day is about 2/3 full.

The biggest mistake I made so far was not starting with an arsenal of sample size flavors. You will probably find that the tobacco flavors taste more like cigars than cigarettes.

The goal is to find flavors you enjoy, and then get them in bulk or mix my own so I am not waiting on the USPS to deliver supplies. Don't get tied to one vendor either -- you'll get your equipment from one, but juices from another.

That was an incredibly informative, all inclusive reply and the best advice I've ever seen. Bravo!

One thing I don't like about vaping forums is how many jerks just want to correct you insultingly to satisfy the wounded inner child they carry (you know what I'm talking about, Paula?)

I can only add 2 further items to consider:

First, the Ego is compatible with the 510 atomizers/cartomizers so buying a 510 battery is a bit silly when you could piece together a better setup for less money. I personally stick with the cartomizers for simplicity bacause the maintenance is almost nill comparitively and, like Paula said, once you get familiar with it then it becomes routine.

Second, you're on the right track with the flavour samples (Bluemistvaping.com is a great supplier with more flavours than Jelly Belly including some wonderful flavours like blueberry, blackberry cobbler, cotton candy, even Cinnabon! They are my primary source for e-liquid). I bought about 40-50 samples + 5 larger bottles of the most common tobacco flavours voted best by forum users. A couple of them had horrible chemical aftertaste that were impossible for me to vape, but adding a few drops of lemon or grape or whatever I felt like using from the samples tamed down most of it to where I could use it instead of throwing it away.
Eventually I created my own flavour called "Starry Night" using their Robacco, French Vanilla, & Cherry flavours. They now mix it for me and claim they all tried it and fell in love with it so much that they plan to add it to their list of flavour choices.

@Deanwings
Your post inspired me to come out and try mixing flavors thank you

Thank you.
You're quite welcome.
Seeing your participation in this type of forum is a breath of fresh air.

Most ppl say you can't get an authentic tobacco/cigarette taste from e-liquid but, through the same aforementioned experimentation of flavour mixing, I stumbled on to a couple that are amazingly similar.

"Starry Night" I mentioned before is very close to an expensive european cigarette (closest american comparison is the Cherry Little Cigars) BTW, Bluemist will know what you want if you ask for it by name and may even have it on hand pre-mixed and offer you a sample. It has become one of only 2 flavours I vape - the other is their Dekang. They actually called me and said they had never even considered flavours like it but were quite taken with it and they were all vaping it. So I imagine they are probably still clouding up the office with it. Lol. It leaves an aroma that is best compared to the sweet cherry cigar but smokes like a dark, fulfilling cigarette.

Before I achieved that flavour, I discovered that mixing 1/3 cherry with their Robacco actually produced a nearly perfect representation of fresh cut tobacco. It was so close... a little too close for my tastes. The familiarity was comforting, but left the same taste in my mouth as smoking a true cigarette. The whole experience was so ghastly duplicated that I wondered if I smelled like I had been smoking.... That was when I realized I didn't want that anymore. Adding 1/3 French Vanilla smoothed out the harsh tobacco edge. The resulting flavour somehow encompasses only the positive remembrances of tobacco smoking while adding an ambiance that equals having a spice pot warming on the stove during the holidays.
It is truly amazing and certainly worth a try.

Ask for a sample and tell me what you think.

If they can't get you a sample let me know and I'll send you some.

@ sidespin

You're very welcome!

The best part is not just using up old stock, but creating something new and unique.
You may even come up with something no-one else thought of and make it your signature aroma.
I would love to be part of a get-together with other vapers who experiment in this way just to sample
their signature flavours.

Yay Matthis!! So happy for you!
I received the Riva 510 from Liberty Flights yesterday, and it has yet to leave my hand. It's just a wonderful e-cig. It's the e-cig that finally broke my 2 PAD habit! Have been tabacco free for 2 days and am completely satisfied with the vapor and throat hit off of the Riva 510!
Good luck,
Robyn

@Paula: Thank you for that very insightful reply!
@Dean: Thank you for the link to bluemistvaping

I am ready to order. I am going to go with liberty-flights and I am 90% sure I want the eGo. But, I'm getting thrown off just a tad and maybe somebody can clear this up for me. I want to buy a kit but I would also like to try the 510. You can probably see where this is going. My question is what starter kit works best with the other (pieces bought separately)?

Basically, e.g., I buy the eGo kit and the minimum number of pieces to get a 510 or vice versa. Not sure if the cartridges are interchangeable. Not sure if any one charger will charge both e-cigs. Basically my wife also smokes and I would like her to try this out. Worse comes to worse, I'll just get the eGo. Anybody have experience with this? Any wisdom?

Also, I am looking at bluemistvaping and it's really got my eye. I have some questions but really want to purchase this kit by tonight. I'm looking over those juices now. Thanks!
