hi there, folks! for purposes of this board, you can call me luna. i'm a 28 year old single mom living in central PA with the merry band of weirdos i happily keep as my chosen family. there's a dog, too - but he is also a weirdo.

anywho, i'm relatively ignorant when it comes to vaping, but not new to it. i've been vaping on and off for a couple of years now, and started up again a couple of months ago. while i haven't 100% quit analogs, i would say my analog smoking is down to about 20% of what it was before, and i feel a lot better.

since starting up again, i've been using a relatively basic e-go starter kit. i'm not sure i'll ever be quite responsible enough for the wicked fancy mods that have been practically ubiquitous at the libertarian festival i'm currently attending (porcfest! i wonder if anyone else on the forums is there now? haha!), but i am looking for something a little more interesting. some of those custom drip tips are just insanely cool! that said, i absolutely NEED a DURABLE tank -- maybe one of the ones that have stainless steel surrounding the glass -- because i tend to drop my e-cig... a lot, lol. i know, i know -- just get a lanyard! i actually have one, but my e-cigs tend to act tetchy when they're attached to the lanyard for some reason.

anyway, i'm rambling on and on about stuff that is probably better discussed in the other forums. hi, everyone! :)

'Ay boo.

I use my EVODs still. A lot of tanks now have stainless steel upgrades, but I've found my regular plastic EVOD clearomizers are pretty durable. I've dropped them so many times on concrete, wood, asphalt... No cracks yet.

The EVOD 2s have removable drip tips and come in a wide range of colours, so you can put your own on as well.

Welcome! You have come to right place for information and help!!! If you are using an Ego, I would recommend a ProTank2 Mini. It is glass, but it is pretty tough!! Another option might be an EVOD topper. The tank is plastic and is surrounded, about 80% by another piece of plastic. The only problem is that some juices can crack plastic tanks!!

Providing this link to an EVOD Tank just for reference (buying from E=Bay can have its problems)
Genuine Kangertech Evod Bottom Coil Clearomizer Tank Kanger Evod US Seller | eBay

I am sure some others will be along soon to provide some other ideas for you.

Again, welcome. Enjoy and I hope you find something that works well for you...

Welcome to ECF. Get a Russian or Kayfun Lite+ type of bottom re-buildable tank and save yourself some money and trouble. A lot of people here swear on the clones, but I myself haven't had much luck with them. So I recommend that whatever you get, get an authentic one.
You can watch you-tube vid's that will teach you how easy building your own coils is. And you don't have to have a bunch of expensive equipment either. I have a bunch of expensive equipment because I use them for electronics, in case you see the pic of my work table on another thread, but you don't need that stuff for vaping.
Good luck on your battle against the stinkies!

hey! thanks for the tips, everyone.

i'm actually thinking of replacing my eGo battery as well as the tank. i like the variable voltage and the durability, but i'm interested in getting something bigger with a somewhat longer battery life. some of those APVs are just soooo cool looking! but i need something that is a bit more dummy-friendly than what i see some folks doing with the HUGE batteries that use coils vs tanks. rc3po, i'm not quite confident in my ability to deal with the coils. a friend of mine let me take a puff on her rig, which uses a coil set-up, and it was way too harsh on my throat while yielding way too little actual vapor -- yeah, i admit it, i like making big clouds of vapor! i am actually able to yield bigger clouds of vapor with my e-cig than i am clouds of smoke with my analogs. but, i also like being able to dump a bunch of liquid in a tank and move on with my day.

feraloxide -- nice profile pic! allons-y! :) everyone else, thank you so much for the warm welcome and the advice! i'm really excited. i've been using my ego for a few months now and i really like it, i think it will always be good to keep around as a back-up, i just want something bigger and shinier (and more powerful would be a bonus). :D

I don't care anything for cloud chasing. I vape like I used to smoke. here's a pic of my vape rig.

oh, i am a huge cloud chaser, LOL. i admit it, i love to make big pretty clouds of vapor! i almost feel disappointed when i smoke analogs now (which is probably a good thing!)... i have like 5-6 packs burning a hole in my backpack, but once they're gone, i'm tempted to try relying entirely on my e-cig and see how things go. those rigs are really cool, but they look so uncomfortable to me haha. my decrepit little lady hands would not care much for the pointy edges. i love the cylindrical rigs. :D

Imo the next step shoud be a MVP 2 with a aerotank or ProTank with a adjustable air flow, great sturdy device simple enough for begginers and solid performance to keep even after you make your next step. heck you can even charge your cell pnone from it. I am a pretty heavy vaper and the battery last for about two days without a charge. lets you adjust volts or watts up to 11 and has a puff counter and my favorite a ohm reader to tell you what your running you atty at. all for about $50 bucks. I have had mine for 6 months and it still my favorite easy to use device.

It's silicone rubber. It's actually quite soft. It's very easy to grip even with wet hands and is built like a tank. I could throw it against the wall, pick it up and start vaping, no prob.

oh, man. those MVPs are really cool, but i guess aesthetically they just don't appeal to me. i like cylindrical rigs. i wonder if there's a comparable alternative that just happens to be the shape that i like? hmm!

what is atty? sorry. all i think of is "attorney" when i see those letters haha.

I don't like the MVP's because it's not a removable battery. I like to just slap in another battery in my mod without having to plug it into something. My e-LVT can be charged by plug though. Also, I can charge your cell phone with my mod.

I quite like my SVD its pretty sturdily built and I've dropped it countless times and its still going strong. Also if you're looking for a tank you're going to be dropping a lot, All new Aerotanks come with metal sections instead of the glass which would take a lot more abuse as long as you dont mind not being able to see how much juice you have (i just top up before going out or when its tasting slightly burnt). The stock coils produce surprisingly well for stock too.

i wonder if the SVD model would be a comparable alternative? s'pretty. :D

thanks for entertaining my silliness, folks. i admit i barely know what most of the people here are talking about 99% of the time, but y'all certainly have a lot of good advice for a dummy like me!!

a atty is the coil you put in the tank to suit you desired ohms I prefer 1.5 to 2.0 ohms there cheap, and save them if they burnout or start tasting bad you can rebuild them to you liking at a later date if your up to it. I was low on funds and got some 28 gauge Kantal wire and a box of sterile cotton balls and rebuit a bunch for a couple bucks really easy after i got the hang of it and now I prefer the taste of cotton as opposed to silica the only downfall is you can dryburn silica but with cotton you cant.

what do you mean by 'not a removable battery'? does that mean that you need to recharge it using one of those thingees you screw your battery into, like i have to do with my eGo batteries? sorry... i am COMPLETELY ignorant of e-cig-ese. i'm looking at a listing on ebay that apparently contains multiple 'battery tubes.' one of them is TELESCOPING which i am for some reason stupidly thrilled by. i would think that mean it takes an external battery, but again, i don't understand any of this stuff all that well. i think that's part of why i've stuck to my dummy-friendly eGo so far.

i guess i should just confess that although i think the square-shaped rigs look cool when OTHER people are carrying, the design wouldn't be the type i would prefer for myself. something i can throw against a wall would be a bonus, though. between the dog, my clumsiness & outdoorsiness, and my boyfriend and roomie's 18 year old constantly vying to 'borrow' (ie ABUSE) my e-cigs, durability is a good thing.
