Hey, welcome to you :)

It's hard to believe it works, but it does. I hope you don't put too much pressure on yourself to go cold turkey on tobacco. With your new PV on the way, remember you're switching rather than quitting. It happens for some the first day, others cut back on smoking and eventually replace cigs with vaping. You decide not to have a cigarette because you don't need one, not because you are depriving yourself by sterilizling your environment of cigarettes, lighters and ashtrays.

I scheduled my past quits on trash days. If there was a .... in the trash can I was afraid I'd dumpster-dive for one more drag. After a few days with an ecig I realized I hadn't had a cigarette and had a new pack sitting in plain sight. That was 7 months ago. It's not effortless. You'll hit a bump or two figuring out your equipment or running out of juice or some calamity but you might just love the journey. I can't say that about any of my numerous quit attempts with cigarettes. Wishing you fast VapeMail and an easy transition.

Congratulations on your decision to give vaping a try! I don't think you will be disappointed. As mentioned above, don't put too much pressure on yourself to immediately quit smoking. Vaping can be a big help, but it didn't happen right away for me either. Eventually, though, I was able to totally phase out the cigarettes. I am still happily vaping and I have no plans to quit anytime soon. I'm not crazy about my nicotine intake, but I feel a hundred times better than I did as a smoker. I can breathe...and exercise!

I'm glad you registered. This is a great source of information and support network. Welcome to ECF!

I got my kit today. Luckily, there were no problems with customs.

I've been enjoying it so far. I got 5 flavours and I've tried the vanilla, coffee and cherry. I hate the cherry, vanilla's ok and coffee's ok too. Tomorrow, I'll give the tobacco and menthol flavours a go and see how I like them.

So glad you are already enjoying it! Smoked for 30 and couldn't quit any other way- vaping is great. Cherry is rough, most of the cherry flavors are no good. Copper Creek has a very good one, but that's the only one I have found. Try different venders if all of these are just ok. There can be a huge taste difference. But ok is a pretty good start! Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions, everyone here loves to help!

Thanks 36, I didn't quite do all the research I should have though. It seems the kit I bought is not compatible with anything and the company I bought it from doesn't sell blanks yet. Shortly after I ordered my kit, they started offering a tank model though, I'm thinking about sending this back for the tank model. Coincidentally the tank model has a "standard" thread and of course I can use any liquid.

So I tried the menthol today and I like it a lot better than the other flavours. I'm seriously considering sending this kit back though for a 901 compatible kit. I really don't like being limited to their 5 fllavours and since their 901 kit uses separate tanks and atomizers, I figure that gives me pretty good flexibility as far as juices and mods go. Does anyone have any experience with the 901s? I see the most often recommended for noobs seems to be the 510, but with a cheap 901 to 510 adapter wouldn't that be just as good or better, since this kit comes with 900mAh batteries?

Just an update, I've cut down on the analogs quite a bit since I got my kit! I finally got around to trying the tobacco flavour and I quite like it. It tastes like an American smoke, which I'm not used to but I do enjoy.

I've decided against the 901 kit and I ordered myself a Jessy "X" kit and the top ten juice sampler from FSUSA. I've heard good things about their juices and the fancy Pulse Width Modulation and variable frequency/voltage tech in the Jessy. I'm glad I have somewhat of a technical background, otherwise I'd be completely lost right now.

I love the community here, everyone has been incredibly helpful.

Congrats on the rest of your life! I smoked for 38 years and tried to quit a few times with absolutely no luck. Today is 17 days of vaping with NO urges to light up. But that's just me and I feel lucky for that. I wasn't just addicted to smoking, I enjoyed it, so I'm absolutely positive this was the ONLY possibility for me quitting. In just over 2 weeks I can already feel the difference in my breathing. And when I'm at work and go out for my vape (smoke) break, the ashcans make me nauseous whereas I hadn't noticed the smell before. And I'm sorry but... my smoking co-workers STINK! lol

Enjoy trying all the new flavors and being able to breathe again!

PWM is defintely the way to control power with little loss. Good to see it is in use in some models now; it could be useful to vary the power t suit different liquids. I have long wanted to see temperature control via PWM - it is the temperature that is the key. In particular, to avoid burning (of liquid or filler/wicking). While previously I have suggested monitoring the resistance change, it occurs to me that a simple way would be with a light sensor. If the coil is beginning to emit visible light, it is overheating (perhaps the liquid is out or the flow has not kept up).
