Heya!

I'm Callum, and I'm from the UK :)

I've been somewhat a social smoker for a while now, and recently decided that I enjoy the effects of nicotine, But of course dislike the horrible effects of smoke (Smokers breath, smokers clothes etc) thus a couple of day's ago I got my self a Smoke Relief Mini Starter kit, and so far it's been good.

However, I do have a few questions about the use of them. Mostly it's to do with the inhale technique. I'd smoke it like I would with analogs, Suck the smoke into my mouth, remove the analog and then breath in. As well as direct hits now and then.

However, when I exhale I get little vapor, I am doing long drags 3 to 5 seconds. Yet I see some videos when they exhale they get quite a lot of vapor. Just like smoking analogs.

But then I read about mouth absorbing, and that I should instead be pulling the smoke into my mouth and enjoying the taste and then exhaling, thus not breathing it into my lungs? I didn't think you get the nicotine that way?

But anyhow, I'm hear to learn and share my experiences as I go on this journey :)

Hi Callum! Welcome to one of the friendliest places on the Net! If you can't find the answer to your vaping questions here, then there is no answer!

When I first started vaping, I tried to "hit" the vaporizer like a cigarette. Most typical PVs can't handle that much air draw all at once. a slower draw is usually necessary. Some draw directly pulling into the lungs, others first fill the mouth and then inhale. I had quit smoking and chewed nico-gum for years before switching to vaping so I can attest that holding the steam in your mouth will transfer more nic (given enough time) as well as exhaling through the nose.
Just like smoke, the longer you hold the vape, the less visible steam you will exhale. Also the ratio of PG/VG will affect how much vapor there is. Some vapers like high VG because it produces the most vape, but the side affect is that it doesn't transfer the taste of e-juice as well. This is why the PG/VG ratio plays a roll in taste and everyone has a different preference.

It takes a bit of getting used to, but slow your draw. You won't be getting that nicotine flood that cigs give you; instead you'll just notice that your system has enough nicotine. If you notice a headache or nausea, stop vaping and wait a bit.

I'm barely scratching the surface of vaping and I'm sure you'll be reading a lot more opinions and suggestions from our fellow ECF members :)

Oh, and those vapers that you see blowing clouds of vapor: It takes some practice to time the exhale just right to get that much vapor. If they hold for a second longer you'd see less than half that. It's a sign of a seasoned vaper who's letting others know he knows what he's doing. :) And again, it does matter what kind of system you are vaping with. Typically those guys are vaping on higher voltages and customized gear. It looks cool, but not really necessary to quit a bad habit :)

Thank you JazzyTech for that warm welcome, and very good advice!

Certainly cleared up a few points! The "mini" ecig I have at the moment came with pre-filled cartomizers, and I think it won't be long before I'll be switching to a more customizable PV allow me to fill my own etc. I'm sure there are hundreds of brands out there! But I'm sure with the help of this forum, I'll make a decision which will be right for me!

Not to throw all this at you, but having a family of vapers, you learn things :)

Joye eGo and a "Vision Vivi CE5 or mini tank" would be a very good start, in my opinion. I personally like the "900 mah passthrough" from Joye because you can plug it into a usb and charge while you vape. Not too pricey and it performed well with all my Vivis (I have just about every model lol). I paid 20USD 6 months ago for it from liberty-flights.com.

They are a UK company http://www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=98

17 GBP is a bit pricey; I'd think you might be able to find a better price for those in the UK.

I am not affiliated with that company, just a customer. They've been around for many years, and my family and I have purchased many vaping items from them. (liberty-flights.com)

Also, the vivi novas (mini, tank, stardust) are cheap, easy to rebuild (you can save loads of money by DIYing these) and are considered the easiest "beginner" rebuildables. They are generally very reliable for the price. If you do decide to try a vivi, just make sure they are "Vision" vivi novas. There have been fakes found in the past.

You'll read about "ohms' and resistance. Generally, the lower the ohms, the warmer the vape. This is a personal preference. I used to like the 3 ohm vivis, now I prefer the 1.8 to 2 ohm range.

I have the Vivi Nova Mini for "out and about", The Vivi Nova Tank for at home. It holds more e-liquid than the Mini.

There are many youtube videos all about vaping. One person in particular is often linked here: PBusardo. He tests varous vaping items and gives an honest opinion. He's no professional; he just gives you the information and test things as he sees it. I respect his opinions. He also has reviews and rebuild tutorials on vivi novas which I found very useful and entertaining :)

I originally approached vaping as "how can I get into vaping cheap and effectively?" So all of the above got me started.
It didn't stay there. lol

I'd like to give you links to UK vendors, but since don't live there, I don't know where the deals are to be found. I'm sure the forums have much more information than I can provide.

Welcome to ECF, Callum. Nicotine from an ecig is generally somewhere between 10% and 30% of what you got from a cigarette. That's why we tend to treat them as pacifiers at first. Draw slowly and then inhale into the lungs. Blow out through your nose to get the most nic absorption. The lungs don't absorb the nic as well as the mucous membranes in your mouth, throat, and sinuses. You can also French Inhale for the most nic absorption. Most of us start with 24mg juice when quitting tobacco. You can always taper downward as your nic needs subside.

You also might want to browse some of the threads that talk about cartomizers, tanks, and dripper atties. Those are likely much more efficient and tasty than a store bought mini cigarette look-a-like and will vaporize the juice more efficiently. You also could move up to the eGo Twist and a tank with regular resistance. That will allow you to vary the voltage for taste and vapor.

Thank you all for your kindness and information, It's much appreciated!

Quite a bit to all take in and process, But I've had a look at the Vision eGo as well as the Joye eGo, and I feel one of those two will be my next upgrade. I'm not too keen on dripping just yet.

But anyhow, I've got 7 or so cartomisers on this mini I have, So it should give me sometime to study and research before I need replace anything :) But, I do like the look of both Joye and the Vision Ego from liberty-flights.
