Hello, I am super new to vaping. So much so, that I listened to the guy at the shop and got a 12mg nicotine juice and made myself sick. Slowly feeling better. I am not a heavy smoker but I do smoke a strong cigarette. Could I get the 0mg nicotine e-juice and lower the nicotine levels that way?
I am hoping to learn lots from this form, Any good places to start? Any tips and tricks. I am looking to learn as much as I can

Thank you so much for any help I may get or even find on here. I am sorry if my questions may be silly!

Welcome :)

If smoke a strong cigarette, 12mg might be perfect.

Then again, it depends on your hardware. This is the way things have gone over the last 2-3 years. 12mg on a high power e-cig could be comfortably more Nicotine (yield per puff) than a 48mg tobacco company plastic stick.

You can dilute liquid, of course. Diluting with unflavoured will dilute the flavour too.

What sort of e-cig do you have?

I have a aspire k1 starter kit. Is this a good one?
I also got the taste clk because I seen it was all plastic ( I am allergic to nickel) and will use this one for 0mg nicotine

Aspire K1 kit is OK (good, but not powerful), yes...

iTaste CLK is a very nice e-cig too.

The CLK has variable power, yes?

What has the Nickel? One of the tanks or something?

12mg doesn't seem too much on the face of it. Did you go on a mega-vape session? :)

The mouth piece that the k1 kit came with. Woke up the next morning with my lips swollen and my mouth on fire.
It's made with stainless steel and that has 5% nickel in it.

No I used it the same way as I would use a normal cigarette didn't go crazy with it.

Yes the clk does has changeable settings I thought that was neat.

Thank you so much for all your too by the way!!

Wow.. I never knew that about mouth pieces (drip tips)... I must have a good few Aspire ones.

I am off to the shops now, but can I ask

What sort of liquid was it? .. name/brand?

12mg shoudn't be making you feel woosy or light-headed. It really shouldn't.

Puff for puff there would normally be less Nicotine.

Welcome aboard! I'd definitely recommend buying some 0% and mixing it with your current batch until you find a nice medium and buy your future juice from there.

If you think you might have an aversion or allergy to nickel, be careful about buying pre-made coils in the future. A lot of vapers swear by nickel, but this can lead to problems if you have an allergy to it or don't have a temperature regulated mod that can keep the coils from heating too much.

The brand is gold seal.

Most people don't know that unless you can't use nickel. I just know now to check the mouth piece to make sure they are plastic.

I also am finding that if I take 2-3 puffs off of the 6mg and the finish with the 0mg I am fine.

Hello and welcome to the forum @Jam lady. Glad to have you here!:)

Most vape shops carry drip tips. Just replace your stainless steel one with an acrylic one.

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
Here are a few more links from New Members Information <= Link covers many topics. Here are two of them:
Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Many juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

I had the same problem, except the idjits at the shop told me that "all new vapers" start at 18mg -- just imagine how sick that made me, after 20+ yrs of smoking ultra-lights.

To make the juice you have now workable for you, you could get the 0mg version of the same flavor and mix them. Or, get the 6mg version; if you smoke strong cigarettes, you may need more than 6mg; if you mixed the 6mg with the 12mg, you'd end up with 9mg. I actually had to start at 6mg, while I was still tapering off smoking, but after I quit, I went up to 10mg.

Welcome to ECF!!! :thumb:

Okay I really need help with that one. How does mixing a 6mg and a 12mg give you a 9mg?
Is there a place that shows you this?

Thank you for letting me know that!
It was a slip on my mistake I should have known to read the box to see what metals were use in it.
Yes I do know I am allergic to nickel (not just a person saying it) it was confirmed after the 5th time my parents had to take me to the hospital to have earrings removed from in my ears. Day one for a reaction two days for infection.
If I would have used that mouth piece one more day I would have had to go to the hospital.
But I really do thank you for letting me know that.
