I know it's hard and harder to get higher nic these days, but imo 8 to 10mg is too low for a mtl set up ( I believe that is what your doing) as you probably need double that...if regular nic is unavailable that high, maybe you can find nic salts, which come really high

This is what helped me quit a 35 year smoking habit. I had tried using nic gum, patches, prescription drugs, and hypnosis. Nothing worked.

Once I had my vape starter setup, I decided on a quit date. I had one pack of cigarettes and vowed I would never buy another pack. I knew I would have cravings, so I allowed myself four cigarettes a day. When I felt I just had to have a cigarette, I smoked half of one, and put it out to save for the next bad craving.

Those second half cigarettes tasted pretty nasty, but I believe that helped me to quit. When I got a craving for a cig, I vaped more. If that didn't help, I smoked half of a cig. As the week went along, I began to prefer the vape over the cigs. When the last pack was gone, I no longer wanted a cigarette.

If I were you, I'd stop buying your favorite brand of cigarette. If you usually smoke a plain tobacco flavor, buy a menthol. If a menthol, buy an unflavored tobacco. Don't reward yourself for any reason by smoking a cigarette.

Use a nic concentration in your e-liquid that will satisfy your nicotine cravings. Some people have a separate bottle or tank of a higher nic juice for those real bad cravings.

In the end, it's going to come down to your determination to quit for good. Do what you can to make "Vaping Good" and "Smoking Bad".

I suggest to my smoking friends who want to try vaping...get an Innokin Goby, 5 extra coils and some GREAT tasting INexpensive ejuice (12mg.)...

The Goby kit contains BOTH the Tank and the Mod...gives a very satisfying MTL experience (Mouth To Lung...the way most smokers smoke)...is small so you can carry it EVERWHERE and always have it available...has an AFC with 4 holes (so you can decide on how much air you like)...and has 5 Wattage levels you can play around with to get the vape you like...

Innokin Goby MTL ECIG Starter Kit

[If you want to think about it...here's the Goby thread: Innokin Goby Kit ]

Of all the above, I tried gum. But it was self-deception and nothing else .
I knew I would have cravings, so I allowed myself four cigarettes a day. When I felt I just had to have a cigarette, I smoked half of one, and put it out to save for the next bad craving.
I also tried to force myself to smoke half, even drenched in the milk of cigarettes (who advised)
but the craving for Smoking was stronger.

I have refused purchase of cigarettes because soar 18 - 20 mg of nicotine and is enough for me for TH.
In the end, it's going to come down to your determination to quit for good. Do what you can to make "Vaping Good" and "Smoking Bad".
Thank you very much for the advice !!!

Art...I mention this only because it took me 2? 3? years to figure this out...but...if you click on "Watch Thread" at the top right of the first post...(I usually check NO Emails on the Pop-Up that comes up)...when you return to ECF you can click on "Watched Threads" in the 2nd GREY bar at the top...to get a list of your threads with UNread (by you) new posts...

Also...if you live in the US...I find it helpful to start at Vapecrawler when searching for e-cig Tanks/Mods/Coils etc...

Triggers and will power.

Try to figure out your triggers. Holding it? Hand to mouth habit? Morning coffee? Commute to work? After meals?

Try to solve one trigger at a time, one day at a time. Learn new habits. Slowly you'll train yourself to avoid some cigarettes.

Will power is needed to perservere in changing those habits at first. Once they are unlearned you can go about changing other habits and triggers.

I switched to 50/50 caffiene coffee at first, then de-caf. Urge to smoke was greatly reduced. I hold an unlit cigarette while commuting. Lighter is out of safe reach while driving.

Reward yourself. I went in hock at first. A few trial and errors later I'd found vape tools that fit my style, flavor-wise, size wise, style of drag and nicotine level. I still smoke but each week I count the savings of ones not smoked towards the initial cost and after 2 months I'm almost even.

If you can, try to write down each one you smoke and why. You'll understand yourself better and can assist your will power greatly. Most of my daily smokes now are simply because my mouth gets a certain taste I've always unconciously covered with cigarette smoke flavor for decades. I keep breath mints and liquids handy. That really helped.

And for now, just relax and take it one day at a time while you ease into the new lifestyle.

I smoke at work. But a lot less. I used to smoke a few in the evening but vape instead. My first nic of the day is from a vape device too. Little by little you'll get there.

Some say raise your nicotine level. I always figure on cutting back on total daily nicotine intake. Weening myself slowly from both cigarettes and nicotine. For me suddenly switching from one form of nicotine consumption to another through vaping wasn't going to solve the issue. My vice of choice as it were is the cigarette and unless I ween off nicotine over time I will always return to my favorite vice.

Best regards and welcome to your new lifestyle. It starts today.

I totally agree ! I try to fight these habits.

I eat mints in such quantity that I'm afraid I'll spoil my teeth

Exactly. At work, I want to smoke more, because the work is nervous.

No, I decided not to go back to cigarettes !!!

Well...United...I'm guessin' you're considerably younger than I am...

Since nicotine is the only substance proven (so far) to delay/prevent the onset of Alzheimer's/senile dementia...I, myself, have NO plans to EVER cut back on my current quite satisfying 6mg. ejuice level...

It's not my age that matters gerry.... it's the mileage.

I have found the secret of life is a good attitude and a bad memory. Each day is a gift to be cherrished. My goal is not to live longer but to live better until the day the big lottery in the sky draws my number.

So far I cannot fit a lifetime supply of shampoo in the baby section of a shopping cart, but I definitely have more years behind me than ahead of me....unless I make it to 109 and by then I won't know.
