Hello Friends and Need Some Direction

Greetings Everyone,
My name is Will. I'm from Elmira, New York.
I'm 27 (bday was yesterday). I've been smoking since I was 13 years old. It was because of peer pressure. I wish I never started.

I've tried to quit many times, but cant seem to get over the hump. I have tried all the quit smoking helps. I'm so close to just paying someone to lock me in a room with what I need to live off for 4 days and dont let me out until the end of the day 4. I'm not even kidding about that.

I've been looking into the E-Cig for awhile and there are so many things out there. I dont want to be ripped off and I've tried contacting many of them and no answers from them. So I'm hoping you guys/gals can help me out.

I have the money and such and I'm ready.
All I need is a place to buy a device from. I am looking for a white one with a red LED (i've seen one that's black and has a blue LED) so my friends dont really realize it.

I'm hoping if i forget its a "fake" cig then it will help me more to quit. Out of sight out of mind. That sort of thing.

However I would like to be able to change the flavor of these things at some point. Perhaps not right now. I want to be able to get rid of the nitctine after awhile to where i'm just battling the physical habit.

So I'm asking someone who know of these things to please send me a message and point me in the right direction.

I hope I didnt ignore some rule. If I did i deeply apologize. I just go home from work and need to be back in at 10am. Thanks for anyone giving some advice and pointing me in the direction :) g'night

Welcome and congrats to you for making a great decision. I think that you will easily obtain your goal with an ecig and you are right there are lots of folks out there ready to ripp you off. I got ripped off and returned the rip off kit once I found this site. You want to go to the Vapor4Life web site and look at the KR808D model starter kit. I don't know how heavy you smoke but you may want to start out with 18 mg cartos and you can go up or down from there. I tried to start too low and it did not work as well as starting higher and gradually going lower on the nic level. I hope that I answered your questions. You are very lucky that you found this site before ordering your kit. Lots of people get ripped off first and then find this forum. Folks here are very friendly and eager to help newbies out. Listen to them. They will not steer you wrong.
Good luck and post with questions because you will have them.

You may want to look at BLACK KR-808D-1 HYBRID STARTER KIT They have the white with orange LED and it comes with 1 manual and 1 auto battery. You may think that you want the auto in order to be like a real cig but you may surprise yourself. The kit is on sale for $34.99 and this is a good trustworthy supplier. I got my first one from him.

Ok. some of the suppliers that I have looked at are out of stock. I don't see it in white here either but you may like the black? It is only $39.99
http://www.cigeasy.com/product_p/kit1.htm

One more thing. Most of the kits will come with some free nicotine cartridges. You may want to purchase several different flavors so that you will find one that you like. This forum has so much info that it can be overwhelming but take a look around and you will learn alot. If you have questions don't be afraid to ask.

Hi Will,

Check the supplier section for sales and here Electronic Cigarette Coupon Code Master List - Electronic Cigarette Forum
The suppliers listed on here are reputable and hopefully you'll find a discount code or a sale at the place you pick.

I do strongly suggest getting a 510 Ego or Tornado, because there is nothing worse than getting used to using your PV
and having to swap and recharge 3+ batteries a day while having a nicotine fit. (My husband has some war stories from living with me)
I've never seen them in a color besides black though.

Try not to get hung up on how it looks - I made the mistake of buying a pure smoke kit from my local smoke shop because it looked exactly like a regular cigarette, and almost gave up on
the idea of e-cigs.
Found this place though, and started researching.
It took me 3-4 weeks to switch completely from analogs to e-cigs. And I had a bad time last weekend out of the blue after three months being completely smoke free....
After over 20 years of 1 1/2 packs a day, patches, gum, and lozenges -this finally worked!

Good luck and ask questions. :D

Welcome to ECF Wiil.
Youre going to get lots of opinions lol That's good - its nice to know taht people can use one of these and are happy with it and want to share their experience. The bad thing (if you can call it 'bad') is you'll get SO many opinions your head will spin.
Start here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html
It shows you the different types of PV, and has pictures so you can see what they look like. It doesn't show prices because they are subject to constant changes.
It also doesn't show juice because there is a LOT of choice both in flavor and supplier.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...pdated-pictures-most-common-e-cig-models.html This thread has more pics of popular models.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...uying-using-electronic-cigarette-primer.html- some pro-tips in this thread - worth a look!
Whatever you do please don't make a purchase until you've really looked into everything; find out if what you WANT and what will WORK well are compatible. Check prices, compare suppliers - we have a lot of good solid suppliers on the forum that have been used by many members (everyone has their fave btw - so expect to be confused again lol).
Research on this is definitely worth your time as the initial layout costs might put you back a few bucks - and you want to get as close to the 'right PV for you' as you can.
Expect what you want to change after youve been vaping a while - many people upgrade to models with longer battery life because frankly changing out batteries all the time is a pain lol.

I hope that wasn't too long of a reply to hit you with - i didn't realise I was typing that much lol

Hi there and congrats on wanting to switch from the analogues!

First off, just a few words of encouragement. Don't feel bad or give up if you can't switch straight away to e-cigs. So people have done, and never touched a real cig since, some people (myself included) have fell off the wagon more than once. Sometimes the urge is so strong for a ciggie that when my PV hs been playing up or I've run out of supplies etc etc. I have just caved in. I have vaped for 2 years on and off, mainly on. I haven't touched an analogue in over 3 weeks now since starting with a new model (PV not size 0 bikini clad, daisy dukes type model..........although that would surely help).....anyway, I digress. So I guess i'm just saying, hang on in there. This forum has many members that are worth their weight in gold for their knowledge and experience and although I only recently joined here, I have been a reader for a long time.

So then,
Take a look at the KR808, or M401 (they do look like regular 100's) give it a go, just don't give up if you aren't totally satisfied. I would strongly recommend you get some good e-juice as this will be paramount in you success.

My Advice would be try the above models, get some Highway 24mg from Liberty Flights and take your time. Don't force yourself into coming straight off the ciggies, it will happen naturally.

Best of luck

I agree with CaptJay. Read the links he gave you.
When you do make a decision be sure to purchase extra Cartomizers/Atomizers 3-4.
Get a couple 6/10ml bottles of the liquid. If you get a two piece-you can refill the cartomizer. If you choose a 3 piece, the cartridges can be refilled.
At least 1 extra battery.
You can go to the bottom right of this web page and click on the FORUM JUMP drop down box. There you will find links to other parts of the forum, including suppliers for e-cigs and for nicotine flavors and reviews of both.
You have made the same statement most make, I want it to look like a real cigarette. Most people who make that statement find out later that it really wasn't an important factor after all. This is important for you to make a well informed choice. Please do the reading in the links first. Return to this very thread and start to ask us some more detailed questions. We are more than happy to help you.

Hi Drea. Welcome to ECF. Here's another good thread to read through. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html DonDaBoomVape (the OP of that thread) is one of ECF's local treasures. He's helped countless people with his threads.
One thing I'd like to say is that vaping is different than smoking. There's no juice that tastes exactly like tobacco smoke. It tastes better. The way you need to drag on the ecig is different too (slower and for a longer time). I smoked for 40 years and I'll never go back. This is soooo much better. Don't worry about what your friends think. Your health is more important than what they think. They're going to know it's not a cigarette anyway. When they see the positive change in you maybe they'll all switch to ecigs. Then you'll be the trend setter! Best of luck to you.

I agree with you. I'm not really into the look, but I'd like it to look real until I get use to the idea. Know what i mean? After that I really dont mind.

I totally thought I wanted a cigarette-looking one, and ended up getting an eGo right out of the gate thanks to the high praise here. So, there went the "looks like a cigarette" requirement.

My husband wanted juice that tasted like a cigarette. He ended up totally quitting only once he started carrying spearmint flavor with him. 2nd hard & fast requirement down the drain.

I can only tell you my own experience - I'm 13 years older than you, and started smoking when I was about 12, and have been a pad smoker for roughly 26 years. Almost as long as you've been alive - yikes!

It's hard to explain, but the eGo is just flat cool. The cool factor immediately nixed my misgivings about the odd look of it - and after reading eleventy-seven posts here about how awesome it is.. I got kind of psyched by the peer pressure, in a good way this time. So hang here for a bit, and see if any of the other designs start to grab your attention. And know that these things are just cool - and most smokers immediately want to know more about them. And really - in my opinion, none of them actually look like smokes anyway, so, really, I'd recommend jumping straight to a setup that's going to be satisfying right out of the box.

And good luck! This whole vaping thing seems crazy at first, but it's FUN - seriously. Wait until you start to get your tastebuds back - the JuiceBuyingMonster takes over something fierce then!

Also, check out litecigusa.net. The owner is very helpful and you can e- mail or call him with any questions you have. I had a problem with my 1st order and he corrected it immediately. Also he offers free shipping of orders over $15. I am in no way associated with this web site but his service has been incredible and he is the cheapest I have found so far.

Thank you everyone who post or will post. Like i said. I'm a busy guy right now. My next day off is tuesday. So hopefully I can find sometime and look threw all this information and see whats best.

There is a few I like that stand right out.
However questions do come with them and I hope you guys/gals can give me the answer to them once I've done looking at all options.

It's clear that everyone has they're own opinion and perhaps if i got to know u people that and try to match your personality to mine. That would help in what model would be best for me. However that might take longer. Not that I dont want to get to know everyone.

I am curious about the KR808D-1 that Salemgold posted. Like i said the color of it was just a mindset but i can set a new one so color isnt that big. Just something I would rather have. I'm not a hard person to deal with.

Can I mix nit and flavor together?
I dont really see anything that says that.

What is the best flavor u guys think there is?
I'm not one for big or way out there flavors (i've seen one for beer and choc cake) I was thinking like a strong grape or something like that.

A flavor to distract me from nit so when i get rid of nit completely i wont notice it by taste.

I completely understand what your husband did. That's even crossed my mind. I might have to go out for that first. It would be the best way i think. If i can trick my sense of taste then I'm not far from tricking my brain. Perhaps I'll add nit and and the flavor of a cig. Then kill the nit. I dunno yet. I'll probably just copy your husband first.

Then switch to a different flavor that I like. Like I said in another post of mine. I could switch to grape then to grape gum.

I quit a long time ago. I did it cold turkey. It last for 4months. I was craving. Not a bad one. I was very bored at the time and saw a pack of smokes and lit one up. That was my fault. No self control after showing a strong amount of it for 4days. I even had 5 sores in my mouth from all the hard candy.

My sense of taste came back and smell. Its one of the major reasons why I want to quit besides being more healthy.

I'm currently sick, and smoking slows the process of healing. Right now that would be awesome if i didnt smoke.

Thank you for your input. I'll steal your husband idea and see if that works for me. So tell him thanks for me.

Mind if i ask what he used? Perhaps the device might be something i'm interesting in as well.

He used RY4 from freedomsmokeusa.com and really likes it still at night - he tends to like that flavor with a glass of Crown. Personally, I really dislike tobacco flavors (go figure - you'd think after a lifetime of smoking, the last year or so of Marlboro Reds I'd like it more) but it's not horrible even to me. lol

He uses an eGo also - we figured he needed the battery life because he takes frequent smoke breaks at work, so needs an all-day solution.

I think most of us have quit here and there (my last time was with the gum, before that was the patch - you're hardcore to do it cold turkey!), and there's something about having a "smokable" safety net that I really like - I know if I eventually quit vaping, that little addiction voice (you know, the one that says "Hey, try one to see why you liked it..."?) will now have something else to crave. Win-win.

My take on faking yourself out - make sure whatever unit you buy gives good vapor output. There's something about watching vapor on the exhale that gives me that "see, it's ok, you're all good" feeling that I really needed in the first few days.

I also bought this: Hypnotic Mist and just recently realized why it had such a killer TH (which was VERY important to me at first also, as it turned out) - I accidentally bought it in 36mg nicotine, a 70/30 mix. It completely satisfied and honestly it didn't satisfy analog cravings, because I never had one - not one - but it did "feel" like a cigarette to me.

Basically, I think what I'm saying is that if your first couple of juices don't do it for you, don't give up - find a site that does samples and buy a bunch of random flavors. You just never know until you're actually vaping what's going to work. If you'd told me three weeks ago that I'd be sitting here vaping pina colada instead of smoking a marlboro, I'd have laughed at you. Seriously.

I dunno why I was your first post. The site does look put out and it was easy to pick what I wanted, but I'm not sure if i should just randomly trust someone.

using "dot" instead of "." is a red flag to me.

Hello Will.

The one certainty in all of this if you read enough threads, is that once you begin, you'll quickly find that you've purchased at least three different e-cigs. Most folks, it seems, have a half dozen or more. So while buying a mainline one to begin - like the 510 with Mega batterieries is a good start, don't beat yourself up when you find a week or two later that you want to try something else. It's a journey to find the perfect hit, the best taste, the perfect battery, the perfect balance in the hand etc. etc. etc. There aren't too many rip off companies. If their website is well set up and has plenty of pages etc, they are probably as good as most everyone else. From a 40 year smoker, vaping beats the pants off of every other method to quit.
