Hi everyone. :) Hubby and I are switching from RYO (roll your own) cigs to e-cigs this coming weekend. I have been doing my research and found myself coming here for advice. So I figured that I should sign up so I could ask questions. We have decided to buy the Innokin VTR mod to start off on because they look strong enough to survive my Hubby. Hubby smokes about 3 PAD and I am smoking between 1.5 and 2 PAD. That means that I am currently making around 4 packs of smokes a day. I know that it will fall to me to maintain our tanks and such so I was wondering what people prefer, bottom coil tanks or top coil tanks. The VTR comes with an iClear 30s and I know you cannot get glass tanks for that, so I was leaning towards getting some Vivi Nova's because you can get either metal or glass tanks. But there are also Protanks so I am getting a little above my head. Any help or advice would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to ECF. Congrats on your decision to join us...I hope you'll be successful.

There's probably a lot of confusion at first, but eventually it'll start to make sense. The VTR is a good choice, but you'll definitely need two to support you both. It may be beneficial to try a couple of different devices to see if you have preferences, but the Innokin's are decent units.

As far as tanks, my thoughts here is that trying 2-3 models is a good idea. I found I had fairly strong preferences once I started getting into it, but I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't tried different devices. I really dig the Kanger mini Pro-Tanks, but it would require an adapter to work on a straight 510 connection...which I do use on my mod. I haven't perfected my Pro-Tank, and it does require some fussing to get it just right...I'm getting closer, but looks like I'll be drilling it out to get it more to my liking. I definitely prefer glass...I've found myself getting into a number of tank cracking juices, so it's nice to be able to run anything without a care.

I wish you luck with your quits! Take it one step at a time and see how you do. You'll probably find things won't be perfect day 1, but that's the leaning curve. Just deal with it, modify and eventually you'll get there. Even a reduction is a success, it takes a lot of us a bit of time to make the switch.

We were planning on buying two and probably a couple of tanks each at least. I also think we should have a back up of some form but that will have to wait a few weeks. I just hope that Hubby can find a juice he likes because he only wants tobacco juice right now. At least there are a few B&M stores around us that let you try juices before buying.

I have the VTR and it is a beast and I love that it is so durable feeling and can take a few knocks. I think you made a good choice. Good luck and keep us posted on how both your vape experiences go!

This.

I feel that I could hammer in nails with it then turn around and use it for self-defense... PUH-POW!

Hi and Welcome to ECF! The VTR is definitely a durable option. For glass/metal tanks that are easy for you to maintain for both of you - vivi novas are super easy and the metal ones may be best for your hubby, I know they are for mine LOL.

I honestly - dont care if they are top or bottom, I found tanks I liked out of both. Try a few in the plastic less spensive version and get a few glass or metal tanks for the ones you each favorite :)

That sounds like a good plan. Will see if the B&M store has some in stock when we go to buy or VTRs this weekend.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations to you both for doing this good thing for yourselves. You've gotten a lot of good technical advice about equipment, and it sounds like you can make a wise decision about it.

I just want to offer my sympathy to you: I briefly got a machine and rolled my own cigarettes when prices went up here due to taxes. It was indeed much cheaper, but I found I spent so much time running the machine and making cigarettes that I could barely keep up. It was smoke a cigarette, roll a cigarette! Also, the motions involved using the machine were really hurting my shoulder and arm.

I decided I was simultaneously killing myself smoking the cigarettes while crippling myself with the machine!:) So I adjusted my budget and went back to buying cigarettes.

Maintaining the PV's for yourself and your husband will be a piece of cake compared to rolling your own! Best of luck.
