My name is Amber and I have spent the last two days jumping around the forum and finally decided it's a good place and that at some point I will remember all the abbreviations and acronyms and measurements... I will get this vaping thing!

I ordered the Blu starter kit on the 23rd after a recommendation from a co-worker. I didn't realize at the time that there were so many options. I got scared after reading the less than sparkeling reviews and then felt better reading some neutral and stellar reviews. When all is said and done, I think I may have lucked out because it sounds like the Blu is meant for smokers like me.

I started smoking when I was 14, umpteen many years ago. I think I have smoked every brand and every strength possible. Since my son was born 8 years ago I have smoked Marlboro Ultra Lights and I am now down to about 5 a day. Do not smoke in my house, car or around the kids and my hubby is what I lovingly refer to as the Smoking Nazi. I have come very far in my attempt to quit, but I hit a plateau of sorts and cant seem to go less than the 5... god help you if I don't get my 5 smokes a day. I have tried the patch, the pills (both wellbutrin/Zyban and chantix) and cold turkey (that was ugly).

I am most looking forward to the flavors and not smelling like cigarette smoke. I have gone through quite of few of the sticky threads and have learned a lot.

My one concern is leaving one addiction to pick up another... has this become an issue for anyone here? I realize it is better than analogs (see, I am picking up the lingo!) but I have seen a lot of posts where people admittedly vape more than they used to smoke.

I hope I am one of the lucky ones that doesn't have to deal with the apparent shipping problems with Blu, and I look forward to getting to know everyone!

I like your jeep Amber, I've got one just like it except I painted it camo. With only 5 a day, you should be able to go to 0 analogs per day with out much trouble. As far as vaping more than smoking, who cares!!!! Anything to get away from that very adictive habit. I quit drinking 6 1/2 years ago tonight and that wasn't as hard as quitting smoking. I also tried everything to quit, but this is the only thing that worked for me. Good luck and enjoy the journey into a smoke free life.

Thanks everyone! I am really excited about this one. Previous attempts I dreaded, but this time, the thought of being able to "smoke" in my office (I work from home) and not freeze my booty off is probably the most exciting thing followed closely by the ability to change flavors.

No brag.. I can not claim the jeep. It is my husband's mistress, and has been well "loved" in the last few years. We are currently attempting to build our own front fenders. We had issues with the tubing bender... but the welding.. hubby is a pro (or so he thinks). As long as it gets us over the rocks and to the end of the trail, I don't care what it looks like!

As far as vaping more than smoking.... I don't know why I am concerned about it. I get it is healthier than analogs... but I want to get away from addiction... not get addicted to something else and have to figure out a way to get out of that addiction. But I guess I will cross that bridge if/when I get to it.

Welcome to ECF and the wacky world vaping.:)

I was one of those you may have read "vaped too much" and "more than smoking".
It was to free myself from a 1 1/2 pad 35+ year, ultra-heavies habit, and it was
successful. Some of us are breaking from a very heavy nicotine addiction, which
doesn't seem to be the case with you. You mentioned 5 analogs a day, I would
smoke that between opening my eyes and leaving for work in the AM, daily.

If you vape when you would have smoked, try some lighter strength juices, and
let your body tell you when you need a hit of nicotine, you'll be successful.:)

Amber,

I read from one of your blogs that you recently ordered the Blu starter kit and have yet to receive it. Believe me when I say I am sharing your anticipation, I ordered a Blu starter kit from Blu on December 18 and am still waiting on it. After reading many threads on this forum I've been super excited to start vaping myself. Anyways, I was just seeing if you have had better luck with your order.

-Griff

P.S. I tried commenting on your blog but I guess I'm too big of a newbie.

Congratulations & welcome! For me, it is trading one addiction for another, and one day I may be able or decide to give it up. I have decreased my nicotine level. But I will say that I am definitely addicted to vaporing. I enjoy all aspects of it. pulling, blowing, smoke rings, refilling cartomizers and recharging batteries. There is plenty to occupy me, so I don,t feel the need to smoke! Good luck!

Griff,

I still dont have my blu. It isn't their fault though, with ordering right before a holiday they actually shipped it out pretty fast, unfortunatly, my local USPS has been holding onto the package for several days, don't know why. I got impatient and went to a local smoke shop and purchased an Envy Bliss, which I believe is very similar to the Blu. I don't care much for the tobacco or vanilla flavors they have, but i still prefer it to smoking, and have 6 full days of no analogs!

I have decided that when the Blu finally arrives, I am sending it back. Again, no fault of Blu, but with the research I have done since ordering it and knowing the Envy is pretty much the same thing, I have decided to order a Joye 510 and am getting ready to order a whole crow load of different small bottles of juice so I can find what I like.

I am still excited, i am wavering between excitement and frustration (there is just so much to learn and soak in!) but so far so good and I have gotten a lot of support since I first posted. Now that I have made some decisions, I feel a lot better about the whole process and hope to be able to help others I know get off the cigarettes and enjoy vaping.

Glad to have you here Amber.
There is alot to learn and alot of great people here to help you along the way.
I agree with others, vaping is a addiction as well!
Not sure on the vaping cut down/quit aspect. Not at the point where I want to consider it.

Probably over 80% or more of vapers, have more than one PV unit. I been in this about 50 days and
have 2 and trying to snag my 3rd....

So even if the Blu is not for you for any reason, it's ok....your probably gonna get the 2nd one soon.
Alot of fairly good ones for about $30 to $50...Might want to consider ordering from some of the
vendors listed here. I received my Riva from Liberty Flights in 4 days from ordering.

Also, go ahead and order some juice. There is NO WAY anyone here can really tell you how much
you might want a particular flavor. It will be trial and error. Order small bottles and see what you
like. A vendor is having a 60% off sale right now, and it is a great, great way to get you some small
bottles to see what you like. The Vendor is Gourmet Vapors and use this code to get the 60% off.

Good luck and happy vaping
Let us know how it all goes and Happy Vaping

I am 100% new to this having only vaped since last Thursday but I will tell you this, I am not concerned about this addiction because it is not killing me. What I did, mind you like I said, I am new, I ordered some carts with 0 nicotine just because I like smoking. I like the act, I like the blowing of the vapor, etc. So I ordered those for when I just want to "smoke" just to be "smoking". Maybe that might help in as far as you thinking about switching from one addiction to another.

It also seems you can cut down the nicotine as you see fit.

I am a firm believer though whatever it is, I am NOT smoking anymore so that's okay.
