Hello
I am Adam Roy and I am here to learn about Ecigs. I have been a heavy smoker for a long time and now I am looking for the best possibilities to quit it. "E cigs are the best alternative of smoking". I have heard this thing many a times. I need your suggestions. I have just started visiting this forum may be I will get my answers soon.

Hi Adam! Welcome to ECF.. The first thing you have to ask yourself is what you're looking for in an e-cig... Does it need to look like a cigarette? How much battery life are you expecting? As a general rule the smaller the battery the shorter the life. Many people start out with a Riva/eGo style battery... Personally I would recommend checking out E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings They have a 20% off discount, you'll see it in the left hand corner. If it were me I would go with the Riva "lite" kit, and a pack of Boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers. As far as juice goes Id look into a few different vendors that offer sample sizes and get some higher nicotine juice to start with 24mg or so. Theres alot of info on ECF... sometimes TOO much even lol. Anyhow, congrats on making the choice to switch! Good luck!

Wow your first 2 responses were very accurate and complete. That said, things revolve around many factors, money you have to spend, personal needs or desires, and the the dozens of vendors that sell ejuice and supplies...so lots of decisions to be made, If you look at my profile I have pictures of my mods posted, if I knew what I know now when I first started, instead of an ego kit which is nice, dont get me wrong, I would went directly to the Silver Bullet. I like the 18650 3.7V experience...I like it best with a dual coil cartomizer, but also with a 510 atomizer and dripping my favorite juice.

Whats good for me might not be for you, but I can tell ya one thing...I have bought 3 SBs just to make sure I never have to do without if I have any problems..LOL...but thats just me..I have over 20 Mods..go check em out..and PS I dont get a commission form altsmoke either..LOL..but the way I push the SB they should pay me...LOL

Hello Adam and welcome to the forum. You will find lots of help and suggestions here but they will all vary according to our own experience. I smoked for over 50 years and I have been off cigarettes for 18 months. I have tried about every e-cig on the market including several Mods. I wanted something that would last me all day without recharging batteries or refilling constantly with juice. The two PV's that will do that are the Go-Go and the Echo, both are very good and have 1300 mah batteries and 3 ml cartomizers. I have both but prefer the Echo with an automatic battery. You can buy a kit here for 45.00. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...old-has-echo-e-cartomizers-7.html#post3514317 It is the best buy you can find for a 1300 kit.

Hi - some general advice

1. There are lots of bs "name" brands on the web, with glitzy sites peppered with lies and false claims about their ecig being rated the best, or carts lasting for 1-1.5 packs each or battery lasting all day. There is no slim battery that lasts all day. None of those slim ecig "name" brands invented their ecig. They just slap their name of some Chinese model, good or bad, compatible or not, and often jack up the prices. So it really is best to buy either from multibrand trusted vendors like (for example) Liberty-Flights.com or Cignot.com and know what model you are buying or from a name vendor only if you know and want the model number of what they are selling. One popular name brand many do buy from is Vapor4Life and that is KR808D-1, a full-featured KR808D-1 vendor including manual batteries, blank cartomizers, juices.

2. Super minis suck. A super-mini i.e. an ecig the same length and diameter as a real cigarette, will satisfy most buyers for no more than 30 days and sometimes for less than 1 day and then they will buy something better. For slim cigs you need at least a mini which is a bit fatter than a cig (about 9.2mm) and 110-130mm long.

3. Manual batteries are a smart choice. Most people here use and recommend manual batteries. The two most popular ways to vape - dripping and cartomizers - can both occasionally leak a bit of juice on the end of the battery. Auto batteries are totally dependent on a little drag sensor right inside a hole in the end of the battery making autos much more easily damaged or killed. Autos can also turn on accidentally from wind or vibration. Manuals give more control of your hit and are less work.

4. Buying an ecig with a popular threading means having more choices of what you can attach to the ecigarette. More cartomizer and atomizer choices, and for 510 also tank atomizer and tanks. The most popular threading is 510. Then second most popular (and the most popular for a 2-piece) is KR808D-1. And notw - if you buy a 510 I recommend Joye brand because at least one clone brand is reverse polarity and has chargers that will melt or explode real 510 batteries.

5. If you are looking for super-long battery life, or the hottest hits, then you need to skip slim ecigs and go to fat battery models or mods. Ego and its popular clone Riva 510 are the most popular fat battery models. And re battery life. When you see the mah of an ecig battery - 100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping (or more time if lightly vaped, less time if heavily vaped). So 180mah battery is about 1.8 hours of moderate vaping. 280mah is 2.8 hours. 650mah like an Ego is 6.5 hours. etc. So chargers and PCC cases are very important for slime cig vapers.

Adamroy,Welcome to the ECF. Dormouse pretty much covered every thing except for e-juice. And I agree with all of them aswell. That said spend a little time figuring if you want something "like" tobacco or just go directly the opposite direction away from "cig" flavors. I have yet to find a direct comparison for analogs. While i was a menthol smoker for over 20 years i do enjoy fruits and sweeter tobacco flavors also. My all day vape is a sweet no tobacco menthol so go figure, more like a treat than any analog could ever be. There are alot of options out there for you. Find something interesting and give it a go.
Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Double on this...
E-cig economics - Battery cost : electronic_cigarette

The ciggie formfactor doesn't lend it self well to batteries, the most you can get is 90mAh, maybe 110mAh on the outside. Think 600 to 900mAh daily for a pack/day user. It literally doubles the operational cost over the 510/KR808d-1, which is still a mini form factor, but as small as is practical. The Ego class is more cigar sized, but the battery operational cost is half, requiring only 1 or 2/day, with enough in the way of charge time.

If you are going to be away from home for long periods each day then battery size is going to be important to you . Any PV that looks like a cigarette isn't goint to last more than a few hours at best . A 650mAH battery with light use maybe good for 7 or 8 hours for some people but for me I am way from the house for 11 to 12 hours a day so I pack 2 1100mAH batteries with me . I know I will use 1 and need the second one at least for the last hour or two .

For the sake of the children ECF members are being incouraged to call it eliquid not e-juice . I agree with that and will be trying to do so .

Wow... that was an awesome reply. Where were you when I started vaping in 2009. A consice posting like that would have saved me tons of money.

Hi Adam, this all sounds like great advise. Liquids and taste are of course all subjective, but in my opinion, if you want to try some great liquids check out Kick Bass Vapors. They have tons of really unique flavors, the prices are good and they are masters of flavoring!
