Howdy,

I'm new to this forum. I currently live in Belgium, where the local powers-that-be, in their infinite wisdom, have outlawed nicotine-based e-liquids, so that smokers like me who have difficulties quitting and want to switch to something else don't even know there are alternatives.

I've been a smoker for 30 years, and I've tried to quit numerous times. On occasions I've even been successful: when I lived in Utah, where smokers are rare, I managed to stay off cigarettes for 3 years. The day I moved out of Utah and I smelled the unmistakable smell of tobacco smoke in the air, I started craving and I was back at it.

I discovered electronic cigarettes while on a trip to Germany - or rather, I discovered that they were more than miniature candy-flavored disco smoke machines: I went to a tobacconist to get a pack of smokes, and the guy had a large selection of electronic cigarettes and liquids, some of them marked "x mg nikotin". So I inquired, and he gave me all the details I needed. After 30 minutes, I was out of the store with my first electronic cigarette (a joyetech eRoll) and a few bottles of German-made, tobacco-flavored, 9 mg nicotine LiXXs liquid, as well as the usual accessories.

I started vaping and immediately quit regular cigarettes. Vaping satisfies my cravings completely, and the switch was a complete nonevent, which still amazes me to this day. After a few days of putting up with the eRoll's idiosyncrasies, I purchased a proper device - an Innokin iTaste VV v3, which has been working flawlessly so far, and which I like very much.

I've been vaping for 3 weeks now, and I'm still off cigarettes. I also happen to cycle quite a lot, and I feel so much better and faster on the bike thanks to my electronic cigarette. It's a complete no-brainer. Now, I realize I'm still addicted to nicotine (and probably will always be to some extent), but now I can work at lowering my nicotine intake without feeling like I have to quit completely or fight to smoke only x cigarettes per day, with the confidence that I don't absolutely *have* to give up. Much less anxiety and guilt-tripping involved with vaping.

Incidentally, since I can vape once or twice and stop - as opposed to a cigarette that you commit to finishing once lit, if only because they're so expensive - I feel I don't get huge spikes of nicotine levels in my bloodstream anymore, but rather a much more constant, averaged out level all day long. That will surely go a long way towards my breaking the addiction.

So, that's who I am. I'm still rather new to vaping, but I hope I'll be able to contribute to this great forum.
