Hello from Chicago. I am new to the forum and new to modding and have questions.

It is good to get in to the vaping community. I have been vaping for over 3 years now, and as of last year I finally started noticing it was a large community. I am just starting to mod now, for the first time. I do have a few questions.

First... my setup: i recntly purchased an Innokin SVD 2.0, 20 watt mod. An apollo rda, and have several 18650 batteries at 3.7v, 35 amp, 2500mah. Materials: 32 gage kanthal a1, koga cotton sheets, and 100% vg juice.

My questions... 1.Why does a lower gage wire require more wraps than a larger gage? I would think since a lower gage is thicker it would require less wraps since it has a lower resistance. 2. I bought 32 gage wire, can i do a triple twist coil on a 20 watt mod and or will this drain my battery extremely fast? 3. Why do i keep seeing lower volts for lower ohms, higher volts for higher ohms? Wouldn't you want more volts for lower ohms? Isn't the amps of your battery really what depicts what ohms it can handle? 4. I have a coil wrap app, and it says i need a higher volt battery for a 0.7 ohm wrap using 32 gage. The SVD 2.0 specifies 18650 or 18350 batteries, and says it can go as low as 0.5 ohms. Am i missing something? 5. I understand lower gage bigger vape, higher gage better taste. Is there some kind of median? If i do a dual wrap or even a triple wrap, won't I get bigger vape without sacrificing flavor? Hell, I think with the apollo rda i can even do quad wraps.

Honestly the awg of wire size will not differ much besides it being easier to work with, 20 awg to 24 awg for your lower sub ohm 0 .2 - 0.5 would be less wraps, for your convenience 28 awg to 26 awg would be easier to work with and would require more wraps.
With a dual coil build you will produce more vapor but IMOA starts to mute the flavor but also using twice as much juice too.
It really depends what your looking for clouds or flavor ?

Welcome to ECF, Jesto! Get your 5 required posts right here by answering/asking questions.

After the 5 posts, you can head over to: Coil Builds
There are a lot of great and knowledgeable members there!

After vaping for 3 years, you're definitely not a novice and I'm sure you'll be able to offer help for some of our newer members!

1.Why does a lower gage wire require more wraps than a larger gage? I would think since a lower gage is thicker it would require less wraps since it has a lower resistance.

Lower gauge wire doesn't "require more wraps". What it does do is lower you resistance, in doing so it also increases your ramp up time. That's why you dont see anyone using 20 gauge wire. It would take forever to heat up.

2. I bought 32 gage wire, can i do a triple twist coil on a 20 watt mod and or will this drain my battery extremely fast?
Since you're running a regulated mod, your wattage/volt setting will determine battery life. A triple twisted coild will burn the same amount of battery life at 20 watts, as a dual coil at 20 watts. (there's an acception to this, but for simple baseline purposes it's not necessary)

3. Why do i keep seeing lower volts for lower ohms, higher volts for higher ohms? Wouldn't you want more volts for lower ohms? Isn't the amps of your battery really what depicts what ohms it can handle?
That's mostly for people that aren't into dripping. Dripping is a different story than say a carto tank on a spinner. You are right, your max amp draw shouldn't be exceeded.

4. I have a coil wrap app, and it says i need a higher volt battery for a 0.7 ohm wrap using 32 gage. The SVD 2.0 specifies 18650 or 18350 batteries, and says it can go as low as 0.5 ohms. Am i missing something?
Please clarify what you're asking...

5. I understand lower gage bigger vape, higher gage better taste. Is there some kind of median? If i do a dual wrap or even a triple wrap, won't I get bigger vape without sacrificing flavor?
That's not true. Coild build, airflow, juice mixture, and coil build all play a roll. If you get 3 of the 4 right, it still might not be what you're looking for. Coild building is a never ending adventure. You'll hit that A HA moment and be happy, but you'll always be looking for another way to up your game.

Welcome aboard
Question 1 - http://attachments.temcoindustrialpower.com/Data_sheet/kanthal_wire_data_sheet.pdf
Check out the Ohms/Foot for the various gauges of A1 Kanthal
Question 2 - Multiple strands of wire effectively increase the the wire gauge. I'm not sure on the effects of twisting.
Question 3 - Battery drain | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators
Check out the Battery Drain tab. A regulated mod limits current to whatever it's stated max is.
Question 4 - See Question 3
Question 5 - Experiment, is all I can suggest.
