Hi guys. I have been contemplating the purchase of an E-Cig for a few months. I am, at best, a social smoker. Though I do tend to smoke more often right around Finals. I'll be honest, I HATE the smell of cigarettes. I actually switched to djarum blacks, which smell and taste better.

On a whim, I picked up a cheap E-Cig (and ego-t) just to try it out. Turns out, I love it! I've been trying to do a bit of research on the different types of E-Cigs, and honestly feel a bit like I'm trying to learn a new language. I think I have a decent handle on the types of batteries. However, the different types of tanks and their use are a mystery to me. Some seem to have wicks, some do not. They all seem to be filled in different manners. Can anyone suggest a decent/comprehensive guide to the types of tanks?

I've pretty much settled on one of the variable voltage batteries, I'm rather fond of the look of the E-Fire 2. However, I'd appreciate any suggestions on other batteries/tanks that I should have a look at.

My current hope is to eventually bring my nicotine down to Zero. Afterwards, I'd only use the E-Cig for flavor and to keep me from picking up another cigarette.

I hail from the Knoxville, TN area -- any other Vols out there?

I'm here, when I'm here
Welcome to the forum, Niyona. Simplistically, look for vids on Evods or bottom filled tanks. Keep in mind, glass tanks are best if you're using liquids with cinnamon or a citrus as those liquids can damage polycarbonate tanks. IMHO, bottom filled tanks are not only good for starter folks like you but even minorly experienced folks like me.

Start there, keep doing research and ask lots of questions. We're here to help! :D

Good luck and Happy Vaping!! :vapor:

The sound of wind blowing is heard and YardByrd comes sailing into sight from the left. His wings are spread wide and his legs held tightly together, his talons are tight, like fists. His platinum "YB" medallion glows a soft green and you hear a deep, smooth, male, Latin, voice translating for him:

"Hail, lauds, greetings, and welcome Niyona! You are off to a good start. IMHO, and my:2c: says to start slowly. I suggest, for your consideration, an examination of two types of tanks, in their "mini" versions to begin with: The former darling, and now hardly used, Vivi Nova Mini (Top coil replaceable "head") and the Protank 2 Mini (bottom coil replaceable "head").

The "head" is a bit of silica wick that has a coil, usually of Kanthal wire wrapped around it. A small metal pin holds in a small, short, sleeved insulator. One end of the wire, from the coil, goes into the center hole of the insulator and pin and is the positive connection; the other end of the coil holds the wire between the sleeve and pin and is the negative connection.

Replaceable heads, in various resistances (Ohms) can be purchased. When your old head wears out you can replace it and continue to use the tank.

I hope this isn't too technical or complex. I suggest checking out these Mini tanks because of the size of the ego battery, ease of use, and their quality. If I had to recommend between the two I would choose the Protank 2 mini. So why look at the Vivi Nova mini? I say to keep your options open and get a handle on the difference between top and bottom coil replaceable tanks.

I sincerely hope this helps.

Finally, yes FINALLY, I must make my post official with this statement, "CAW!" :)

YardByrd dematerializes into a quickly fading puff of distinctly RY4 smelling mist.

GO BIG ORANGE!!!
i grew up in knoxville and they just opened an actual brick and mortar store on lovell rd. the address was like 134? lovell rd. dont know if that is on the kingston pike end or pellissippi way. it is the same company that got me started down in cleveland. i used kanger t3s clearomizers in the beginning. they are easy to see to fill and replacement coils are easy to change. they should carry Kanger Aerotanks as well which work very nice. the best part is you will be able to sample all their flavors before buying and they will be glad to help you make any equipment selections to complement what you already have. the name is Mountain Oak Vapors and i am sorry i don't have the address for sure. my family is in ktown and i will be coming home soon to visit and see the new location. it is the only vape store in knoxville as i searched a few weeks back and all that was available from them or anybody was a kiosk in knoxville centre(eastgate mall area) DO NOT GO THERE i was appalled by what i found. no inventory, samples were in burnt atomizers...blah
i went to high school with lady vol coach Holly Warlick. if you do go to MOV on lovell rd. they like word of mouth advertising. i guess business is too good. tell them Jon Hall sent you and give you a discount. i spoke to the manager yesterday to get them to update their posts in the forum and at tasteyourjuice.com. i am sure the manager will remember me. try tasteyourjuice for some honest info. happy vaping vol fans, jon

Go Vols!! Knoxville here also. :) Mountain Oak Vapors on Lovell Rd is quickly becoming my favorite vape shop in the area, but I also have had great experiences at The Vape Shop and Vintage Vapors. They are all very knowledgeable and helpful. We are lucky to have so many great options in the area now. Definitely stop in at one of the shops and don't be afraid to ask questions or advice, they're ready to help. Happy vaping! :vapor:
