Kinda long, I apologize :)

Hey everyone, my name is Jon, calling me Phoenix works just fine though. I've been smoking analogs for about 3 years, and a little over a year ago became interested in ecigs. Impatiently and ignorant, I ran out to a local shop in Atlanta (was living there for 4 years until aug of '10) and purchased a starter kit (Joye, used a 510) for $100 (OUCH!!!) and bought tennessee cured from Johnson's Creek. This was ok, but I continued smoking analogs. When I came home I ran into someone here on my side of town at a friends arcade he runs, who was vaping from a nicostic he made, and he explained the ease of creating the battery box yourself, the benefits in price and power. With my interest spiked, I ran to radio shack and browsed this forum...

I made my nico stic using EVERYTHING from radio shack and using a 510 atty I had. I used a double male RCA connector I modified and pinched for the atty connector and 2 cr2 batterys... 6v monster haha. I was using Apple flavor 18mg from a local smoke shop that sold Sinless Smoke products... 10ml, $10... I THOUGHT this was a good deal... again, learning the hard way. It all worked well but I was unsatisfied and again, back to analogs...

fast forward about a month (feb 2011) I made my first purchase from mad vapes... a proper 510 connector, a 14500 Trustfire battery and charger, and some SmokeTek 2.0ohm Cartomizers... shipping was fast, and I was instantly hooked on ordering from them. I revised my nicostic and vaped away on my remaining apple juice, I was very pleased and learning a lot more now about everything... liquids and their mixtures, connectors and their types, voltages and the benefits and withdraws from each, etc. The mod bug planted eggs in me and they have since started to hatch...

A few weeks ago, I built The Puck to pretty much EXACT specs and the original tutorial minus using my 510 connector I had already purchased and been using in my nicostic. I also placed an order for 3 new juices from madvapes @ 5ml each to see how I liked them, when my order arrived they included a free 5ml sample of Caramel Cream!! I officially LOVE madvapes and made a new purchase for new cartos @ 3.2ohms so I wasn't using 2.0ohm carts at 5v with my puck and Dekang RY4... this is my new favorite! I had a good feeling about it so i ordered 30ml off the bat. BTW, have BARELY touched analogs since my Puck hit my hands :)

Here are some small things I've learned doing all of this and my future ideas...

1. On 510 Attys, mine stopped working, it wasn't out or broken, what happened was the rubber seal on the bottom came loose and allowed the + contact to touch the -, using a needle I pinched the rubber back in place, and it worked just fine again. Something I think everyone with these attys should look at before declaring an atty dead.

2. If I want 3.7v on my puck, I remove ONE battery (each of mine are 1.25v) and in place, pinch a small wire in its place against the contacts, thus closing the circuit and giving me 3.75v to be exact, works great for me since I still have some good 2.0ohm Cartos I don't want to toss out.

3. In ANY mod requiring glue or anything of the sort, I HIGHLY recommend JB Quik, it cures rock solid and makes anything I've used it on exactly how I want it to feel.

Sorry again for the long post, just excited to get all this out, I am sure I missed a few things but I am always open for questions! I have a long experience in modding electronics and wiring, so this whole thing is starting to come natural to me but I am sure I will have tons of questions of my own. Right now I am waiting on Tueros (sp?) to post his how to vid of his copper mod so I can try that out and then on to make my own juices.
:p

Thanks for reading everyone!
-Phoenix

Thanks again everyone! I moved here when I was 10, after 12 years I left to atlanta for a bit but now I'm back for good. I love it here, not to mention being around my family is easier for me. Since I'm using my phone, the pictures will be in this post... This is my puck...

Thanks I'll see if I can make it, I actually live in spring off 1960 and I-45 :) I'll go say hello in a few, I'm actually at the drive in theater about to watch Rango and battle: La.

Thank you again for all the introductions, I'm not a huge fan of online forums a lot but I like that this one has a majority of people who maintain civil integrity. I spent a few months on here learning and reading so again nice to finally say hello

I was born and raised in Houston and have lived in Spring for the last 34 years. I'm glad to see some Houston people on here. And yes, where is there a drive in theater??? I always thought it was such a shame when they did away with them. I am a noobe to vaping...only two weeks now but have found a world of info on this forum.
