Hello all! Just checking in for the first time! Im just getting back into vaping and picked up a new smok gx-350 and then a smok pro color when i realised I wanted something thing a tad lighter to carry around. I also picked up a Dotmod petri clone to try my hand at making coils. I am a bit overwhelmed with all the input i read and every answer raises new questions so i decided to find a forum in hopes of getting some help! I Apologise in advance for my future noob questions. I will try to do my due dilligence!

Hey thanks Tonee!! My confusion relates to making coils for my petri clone and pro color. The pro color has a factory coil rated at .4 ohms. When making a dual coil build for my new petri, can i just make two coils that when combined equal .4 ohms and just stay within the 40-80 watts recommended on the factory tank?
The pro color is being fired by two 3000 MAH 20A 3.7 v 18650's. Im trying to figure out how to compute the two batteries.
i got so confused trying to figure out what variables to enter into the online coil calculators i figured perhaps i could shoot for the dual .4 ohm that comes factory for my target.

Who makes your batteries?
And yes, you can make a dual coil build that ohms out to 0.4 and run it in you Procolor(I also use one)
The math is 3.7vX3.7v÷0.4=34.225 watts. VoltsxVolts÷Resistance=Watts
Depending on your make/model of batteries plus you're already using a regulated device you should be able to go up to 110w-120w.(60w max each battery)

Ok awesome thanks so much! The batteries come in a brown box labeled HG2. I picked up the coil master build kit that comes with 24g a1 kanthal, but i also bought the 28g quad wire by demon killer. Feel kind of dumb now knowing how cheap wire is online, but i guess its good to support local vape shops so its all good!

Here's Mooch's battery chart, very helpful.

Hi and welcome. You can shoot for a dual coil set totaling .4Ω easily enough. I really do recommend you start with round wire first for learning. To make a .4Ω dual set, you will need two .8Ω coils. A coil calculator will tell you this, and how many wraps of which wire on what mandrel will get you there.

Hello and welcome to ECF. Once you get past the magical #5 post (I think) you will be able to ask questions in other areas of ECF. I and a lot of folks on here use Steam Engine (Steam Engine | free vaping calculators) to aid in building coils. Another tool you will want to add to your vaping toolbox is a means to measure Ohms of the coils you build. I have a coil master and it has come in real handy making my coils. Another tool I have is the 521 Tab by Coil Master (Coil Master 521 Tab - Coil Master). It has everything built in for a solid base for installing the coils to checking the Ohms and a safe way to pulse your coil. Another advantage to joining ECF is the ability for us to help you spend your money.
Again, welcome and ask away.

Hello again and thank you all for the input!! I just got around to making my first coils! Unfortunately i think i flubbed it so ill have to try again! My two coils came up on my meter at .35. As mentioned i should probably start with single strand. The steam calculator told me to use 185 mm of my demon killer quad wire at just a little under 16 wraps.
I did 7 and counted the leg bends as halves counting as the eight when calculated together.
I used the 3mm coulmaster jig but i noticed there was extra wire after the 16 wraps. Perhaps use a larger jig? Just want to make sure it will still fit in my petri clone.
