Hello all,

New here, Looking for advice and support and a great community.

I have tried to quit smoking several times using various methods, Chantix, patch, cold turkey, etc..

Had a coworker suggest a vape pen, its a method he used to quit his 2 pack a day habit. He was having the same problem im having. Ive cut from 2 packs a day to 1 to 1 1/2 pack a day and cant get lower.

So, I picked up a (with advice from co worker) eleaf istick 30w. and a mini nautilus tank. I am finding it hard to get used to. Ive read a few of the threads here and figured I would post and introduce my self while I lurk somewhat.

Thanks in advance for any advice yall can give.

EDIT I meant to say trying to quit smoking in the thread title. Sorry if there was any confusion.

How long have you been vaping? It takes some people a bit longer than others to drop the old habit, but the general wisdom around here is if you don't stop vaping you will quit smoking. You have decent gear, so my best advice is find a flavor you really like. Me, I am a sucker for caramel, and found an ry4 that I really liked and pretty soon I didn't want to smoke anymore. Like one day about 8 weeks in I forgot all my vape stuff at home, an by the time I realized it I had no time to go back for it, so I stopped and got a pack. 8 stinkies in, had what I thought I was missing, and all I wanted was my vape gear back. I knew then I was over the hump, and while I finished the pack (hard to believe, even then, that I was done with them) it took a week. Been smoke free since, and while it's only 4 months without, its as long as I have ever gone.

I guess the thicker vapor of the vape vs the smoke from a cig. I did just read the inhalation topic in new member info just now and that made some sense. just mainly looking for advice or tips/tricks of how to use it properly.

You should look into getting higher PG juices with low VG. General rule of thumb is: PG for throat hit, VG for more vapor. If you're a one-pack a day smoker, I recommend starting with 6-8mg nicotine with 70/30 PG/VG juices.

Our other saying is count the ones you don't smoke. I don't have any of those things, so no specific help from me, sorry. But there are a lot of nauti mini users here, so help will be here directly I am sure. One more general bit of advice would be to stop trying to replicate smoking exactly and enjoy your vape for what it is. You are going to smoke till you die if vaping doesn't work, probably, so no need to rush quitting. Cutting your smokes in half is a good first step.

Sorry, one question I forgot to ask was what level nic are you at? With 2 packs a day on a lower powered atomizer it should probably be pretty high, I was at 24 on a vision spinner2 and still having trouble, but was a max 30 a day smoker. Your gear is a little better than mine was, but at 40 a day normally I might be looking at 36 on a naughti to start. Or at least a tank with 36 in it for the bad cravings, and one at 18 for standard use.

30 watts at .75 on 18mg worked for me to stop all cigs. I kept 24 mg at .2 on hand at 60 watts for bad cravings. 12 seems a bit light to me for a solid 2 pack a day guy, to quit right now @ 30 watts. Up your nic, keep a pack around, and see what happens would be my advice for the next month or so. I'd bet you don't smoke much.
If you want to be done tomorrow, more powerful setup, lower ohms, and 12 juice.

Well the store I was at asked what I smoked, and based on pack and a half a day the guy suggested to try a 12 at first, that way I can go up or down as needed.
I was like you. I needed 36 mg at first. Take your time with each puff. It's not like smoking where you can take a one second hit. If the hits are too strong, try "sidestreaming', by taking in some air along with the vapor.

@Warlockez If you are having trouble with the thickness of the vapor, hang in there. Yea, real helpful, right? But it's the best answer I've got. I've been vaping since 2012; honestly it just took some getting used to. The difference in how you hold it, the weight of the device, how the draw feels. These things all add up imo. Play around with new ways of inhaling (mouth to lung vs direct lung.) Also, remember to have fun with it. The more vaping brings you enjoyment, the more likely you are to stick with it. And I agree with what was stated above, you may need more nic and high PG juices at first.

Hello and welcome! For many of us it took some time to get used to vaping. It is different but in a very good way. You've already lowered your cigarette intake considerably and it will only get better. Took me about five months before I totally stopped and I only use to smoke 3-4 cigarettes a day. Hang in there and give it a chance it does work!

The istick + nautilus is a good combo. Even with 'best case scenario' you're not going to get that vaping more than 14-15 watts so I'd be tempted to up your nicotine during your break-in period. I'd expect 18mg to improve things and give you a psychological head start. There's no prizes for using lower strength liquid until the time comes to actually challenge your nicotine usage. :)

You know your juice is strong enough when you can get a nic buzz:) I started @ 18mg on the nautilus mini and sucked on that thing like mothers milk.

Try playing with the air adjustment and lowering the wattage to get it "just right" for you. Opening the air all the way and smaller mouth hits might help reduce vapor density.

To quote other members here - It's the cigs you DIDN'T have that count. You'll get there.
