Just wanted to introduce myself and say Hey. I've been lurking in the shadows for a few months trying to sift through the pages and educate myself on what and where to buy. I've been a LONG time smoker, have quit numerous times, sometimes for years only to fall off the wagon. About two years ago I thought I was coming down with the flu, four days later I was in the hospital with my lungs full of fluid. I was in for a week and it took me three months to be able to walk to the mail box without having to sit down to catch my breath. I was lucky it wasn't cancer, I dodged a big bullet but even after all that I started smoking again. The last six months or so I've been buying the gas station e-cigs, Nicotek. I've managed to stop smoking cigs now but I've been spending a LOT of money on these POS Nicotek e-cigs.
A couple weeks ago I bought a eGo Twist 1100 mAh battery, eGo charger, a couple ViVi Nova "clones" and some juice from goodejuice.com I love the battery, the juice was a good but the Nova clones turned out to be a POS. The coil "heads" or "wicks" are not threaded, they are a push in style so now that the wicks need to be replaced I'll either have to re-wire them or toss them out. I also checked the ohm ratings with my FLUKE Meter, one was 6.8 and the other was 3.7 The pictures on thier website shows them identical to the Vision's with the threaded wick's. I called and left a message, when they finally called me back the next day all I got was "Well that's why they are marked down to $5" "The pics are what the supplier sent us" "Buy the Kanger's from us, they are better" No offer to give me a break or help me out, so I'll be spending my coin else where from now on. I placed order with Rick at vaporalley.com last week, following Rick's advice from his post Something for ew eCig users, my 2c I bought a couple Kanger T2's at 2.5ohm, some spare 2.5ohm wicks and more juice. The shipping was fast, the prices were good and I do like the Kanger's much better then the Nova's. I checked the wicks with my FLUKE and they ranged from 2.3 to 2.5, I'd call that pretty good. Only thing I don't like is the menthol juice but that's just my tastes I'm sure. I tried bumping the voltage up, it did help with the taste but at 4.0 volts I got my first burnt hit so I backed right off and now have stayed with vaping them at 3.7 volts.
At some point I'll be rebuilding my own wicks, once I figure out what I need and where to find the best prices on wire and wicks. Any advice on vendors for good juice at fair prices and supplies for re-building my wicks would be greatly appreciated.
