Hi all. I'm so appreciative of this forum. I still know next to nothing but do enjoy reading daily and picking up snippets that make sense. My quick lil story is probably similar to many. Wanted to try vaping but had no idea what to get. Groupon had South Beach Smokes advertised and I got it because it looked easy enough. Really wanted it for vacation which would put me around kids and it worked well enough but I smoked when not around the kids so didn't use much and it has been sitting on the desk untouched for months.
Went to Siesta Key and was amazed at how many vape shops were in the Sarasota area. Went into many of the shops, loved looking at all the products and even learned a little (very little) but enough to buy an ego starter kit. Again, didn't use it much and continued smoking just because it was familiar. 26 days ago I ran out of cigarettes after I was in my pj's and didn't feel like getting dressed to go to the store. I dug into my bag, pulled out the Ego and haven't smoked once since.
I keep reading about all the cool systems people use but I'm happy with my simple little Ego and have no intention of upgrading. I understand it and it works for me. A vape shop opened here in Sanford, FL that I visited. For the grand opening they were giving a 5ml bottle for visiting. The place was packed so I went back later in the week and a few more times since and the remaining 5ml bottles have been $1 and some of the 20ml bottle have been $5. I'm having a great time with the different flavors and have purchased enough to keep me happy for some time to come and will probably find myself playing with juices more than equipment.
I have some health issues and had blood work right before I last smoked. I can't wait to go back in Oct for a repeat of the blood work. My blood pressure for once is actually in the target zone. After trying cold turkey, patches, Chantix twice, and hypnosis, these last26 days have been quite easy. I started at 18mg. and am now at either 11 or 0. As a pad smoker since 1986, I had resigned myself to never being able to quit (especially when Dad's heart attack didn't wake me up to the need to quit). I love being able to breath when walking up stairs, finding out what foods taste like and not having my car and clothes smell awful.
Even though reading through some of the post feels likes I'm reading a foreign language, again I'm thrilled to have found these forums. It is refreshing to have a place to read about a new hobby that has allowed me to finally become smoke free.
