Hi everyone.

Cherokee here, introducing myself to the forum... it's good to be here, and I am really pleased to read how friendly and helpful everyone on this forum is!

I am quite new to vaping, and have been vaping a Halo G6 manual for about two weeks now. I really enjoy the G6, and chose the G6 starter kit, after doing much research into cig-alike brands, as their quality seems very high (and everything is made in the USA!), and I've read many good things about halo in the Halo sub-forum.

I am one of the seeming minority that picked up vaping without being much of a smoker at all. I used to smoke a little between my teens and into college, but then essentially stopped altogether (asides from a smoke here or there when out having a drink). However, in the past 3 months, I have been going through a REALLY difficult time in my family life:(, and troubles with my wife, and bought a pack of Marlboro Lights for the first time in quite awhile, which I kinda used as a crutch to help distract me from this awful situation. I do not drink, and thought that this might calm my nerves a bit. After smoking about 3 packs, I decided that I really did not like it, and thought it would be smart to look into vaping. The first time I vaped was off of a friend's device about a year ago, and did not particularly like it, as the flavor was quite artificial-tasting, and the battery, for me, was too big. Hence, I chose something rather smaller, and went with the G6 (starter kit - only $45!), which I bought in black batteries with several black mini tanks. The set up looks really classy and unobtrusive, I think. With the mini-tank, the setup looks VERY close to a black gel pen, which I think is really cool, as I can vape at the office without being too in-your-face about it. I have my own office, though, so I am thinking about upgrading soon to a Halo Triton starter kit. I've bought 2 of Halo's sampler e-juice samples, and REALLY love the Tribecca. It is glorious. However, I have been encountering a bit of trouble with the Tribecca (but not other Halo juices) getting a burnt taste from the coil and occasionally the fluid is getting discolored from the excess burning/gurgling, and I am posting a bit here first in order to create a thread in the Halo forum for some guidance.

Well, it is great to be here!

A warm welcome to a fellow 412 vaper!

I'm also a Halo fan and currently, the only device I have is the Triton. I wish I would have taken the advice of others when I first started up, though. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Triton....it got me off of analogs completely and its been a month without one, but people warned me that I'd want to upgrade quickly. With the Triton, because of its unique thread pattern, its not compatible with most other devices and brands that you hear all about on the forum.

Just my two cents, but if you're upgrading from the g6 to a triton quickly, you may want to adventure into other things quickly as well and might be better off skipping the Triton step. Shiny-itis gets ahold of all of us at one point or another.

Oh, and for the record, Tribecca is one of my favorites so far, too!

Welcome from me, too--I live in a small town about 40 min from Pgh. I also started with the Halo G6 after a quick (very) brush with Greensmoke. Great starting point, but if you want to vape more than a little, the short battery life will drive you to something bigger. In the meantime, enjoy and I hope that the family issues resolve soon and in a good way for you.

First, Welcome to ECF! Sorry to hear about the issues you are facing.
I am not familiar with the set up you are using, but the burnt taste generally comes from either a dirty coil (gummed up with juice) or too high a voltage. Hope you find a solution and I am confident that somebody here will have some answers for you.

Again, welcome!

Thank you all very much for your replies, and for your kind words regarding my family situation! I am hoping that things work out in the end, and am glad to have found vaping as a distraction. I also love forums, and this seems like a great one. Oddly enough, the only other forum that I was rather active in was a forum for diamonds and jewelry fanatics, which my wife certainly liked (even with our rather modest budget). Needless to say, although I could tell you most anything about diamonds, my knowledge of vaping is next to none, but this hobby is a vastly cheaper distraction and forum to frequent.:)

Also, it is great to see how many Burghers are on this forum... glad to hear from yinz. I am from Sewickley, and love the Burgh, and look forward to chatting with everyone!

Thank you for your reply and advice, batman. I will heed your advice and wait awhile before committing to buy another Halo starter kit. I am moving up rather quickly in my vaping desire to get a new device, and it would be smarter/more financially intelligent to wait to see the right device that suits me and is compatible with several other tanks/mods before committing. Since the G6 is working just fine for me as of now, and I have plenty of juice, there is no huge rush.

And you are right on that Tribecca is awesome! I just have honestly no freaking clue as to why the Tribecca, but no other Halo juice, is burning on the coil of the mini-tanks. It makes no sense, as many of the Halo afficianodos, and Halo customer service, all state that Tribecca is one of the more "versitile" juices, and is not as prone to burn as some of the darker juices (e.g., Voodo, etc). I hope I figure it out, as it is frustrating the hell out of me. Burnt Tribecca is still not bad, but it certainly is not as good as it could be. And I don't even take enormous pulls - certainly less than the 5-second cutoff on the G6 (probably 4 seconds or so). And the top coil is seeming to get rather hot, even after one pull. This has happened with two tanks now (both of which have been new). I hope that someone on ECF will be able to help me.

Well, thanks again for your advice.

I, too, am logged in from Pittsburgh. My front porch gives a nice view of the city skyline from a mile down the Ohio. In the middle of the Carson St. reconstruction project. :glare:

I started vaping about a month ago. An acquaintance from WV was vaping and I asked about it. He recommended Rocky Top Vapor to me so, I surfed their site and bought my first vaping kit, a Stardust starter kit. It allowed me to upgrade to the 1000mah battery and came with two tanks, two flavored juices (my choice) a carrying case and a charger. I've since bought two more tanks, five different juices and am considering buying the Kanger T3S BCC Clearomizer. And that, my new friends is where I have gotten hung up. I'll be posting a new thread on my hang up but, I wanted to hi to my fellow Western Penna. vapers! SALUTE! :toast:

I'm right up rt.65 from you, in Beaver. Welcome....I'm not familiar with your setup, but I do recommend trying to get down to South Side Vapes on E. Carson St. in pittsburgh. She has a small shop, but is patient and will spend some time showing and answering questions for you. Also, they have their ejuice set up as a tasting bar. It's nice to sample different things before you blow money on a bottle of something you end up not wanting to vape. Anyhow, I know she was very helpful to my brother and a couple other people i've sent in there.
