Hi all,

I'm new here, so I big hello to everybody! So here is my story (sorry if its long!) I have been vaping on and off for the last few years. Been smoking since I was 16 and I'm now 43 and a pack a day smoker and at nearly £12 a packet its an expensive habit! I first started vaping about 6 years ago with a pen stick clearomiser thingy. That lasted about 6 months. I tried a few times after that with a few other pen sticks but wasn't very successful staying away from the cigs.

Then about a year ago I got my first internal battery mod - a Vaporesso tarot nano. Loved its size, it's simplicity, didn't have to faff about with batteries and the fact I could change the wattage to actually taste flavours etc. I lasted about 4 months before going back on the cigs. Towards the end of last year I got another mod as I thought I was ready to quit (plus just wanted something new lol). So I looked about and went for the Vaporesso Tarot baby - yes there is a pattern for internal battery mods lol. Loved that too, however it wasn't my time to quit. I was smoking and vaping and although I was smoking less, I was still smoking lol

Until now.... I went away for a few days by the coast for the New year and the air was so clean and clear that I didn't have the urge to light up a cig as regularly as I would (although I did take a few stigs and a packet of cigs). When I got back home I started researching Nic salts. Now usually I would mix my favourite ejuice (loaded glazed donuts) with normal nicotine to make 6mg, however the liquid would always quickly turn dark once the nicotine was mixed in. I decided to try nicotine salt Nic shots instead....and wow what a difference that has made. No harshness, full flavour and no more dark liquid and I'm only vaping 3mg juice (verified by some kind people on here when asking questions about mixing Nic shots).

My first week I decided to just have a cig in the morning (when you first wake up and have that urge) and one after I had dinner in the evening before bed - so only 2 a day. At work I was on a low nicotine patch). Sometimes I would only have 1 cig a day. This was working very well to the point where I no longer use the patches at work and haven't touched cigarettes in over a week (that's an accomplishment for me lol). I still have the last packet of cigs I bought sitting in a cupboard and I haven't had an urge to have one. The real difference came when I got the Voopoo Drag mini (yes another lipo lol) and the Freemax mesh pro. WOW, why was I smoking stinky nasty tasting cigs? lol

I'm 3 weeks in and something has just clicked in me now and I know its my time to quit....I just need to keep it up!

Although a small accomplishment, wanted to get it off my chest to a community of people who would understand :)

Thanks for reading!

Well done; you should be proud of yourself!!!

Remember, that quitting smoking is a process, and doesn't come with an on/off switch (though; we all wish that it did:rolleyes:). There may be some bumps, and even U-turns, along your journey. But, as long as you never give up your goal; you have NOT failed. Keep up the good work! :D

As for dual using (smoking and vaping); it is not uncommon. Find what works best for you.

My own journey started out similar to yours. I didn't throw out my last half pack of cigs either. I never told myself I "couldn't" smoke. If the urge became to great; I lit one up without guilt (well... maybe a little self disgust:facepalm:). Each time I did, it tasted nastier... and made me quesier, until I had no desire for another one. It took me nearly a year, to get through eight more cigs remaining in the pack, and I threw out the last two. I also found I smoke less of each one, each time I lit one. Of course, I am fairly sure that it didn't hurt, that I was smoking very stale cigs. :D:blink::D

Again; congratulations! And welcome to the community. :thumb:

It's a GREAT accomplishment! Congratulations and welcome. You'll have to teach me some British slang. I like that "faff" about expression.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Hurrah for you! Your glazed donuts e liquid may get overused in the long run. Suggest finding a few more e-liquid flavors you might like and rotate them when you feel like it. The bakery flavors are my favorites too.
examp: Bakery Flavour eLiquids
